I'm pretty sure that the butter grater thing is supposed to be used with toast. The increased surface area of the butter will make the butter melt and get softer much faster than a pat of butter, making it much easier to spread. After scraping it off, wait a tiny bit to let it soften quickly before trying to spread it.

I rarely use gadgets, but there are two that work so well for specific tasks that I would not be without them. The first is a slap-chop type, which I use to mince large quantities of garlic and ginger. I almost never use it for anything else, but for this it is incredibly fast compared to a knife. The second is an ancient Mouli-Julienne, which is sort of a hand-cranked food processor. I use that to grate cheese quickly. So much quicker and easier than either a box grater or a food processor.

Have just found your channel. I’m disabled following stroke and love that you are trying to include people with disabilities. I used to be right handed, but my stroke has made my right side completely useless, so I am learning to be left-handed and one-handed as my right hand can do very little in the kitchen. I love to cook so any gadget that will make my life easier is a bonus. You make me laugh so I enjoyed watching all your videos. I get a bit bored sitting in a chair all day. I play Sudoku and Solitaire and watch some daytime television and as I live on my own I am constantly looking for things to keep me amused, and you certainly do that all the best to you and your family. Keep up good work and promotion of gadgets for disabled I have gained more from you than the occupational therapist:, 😅

I know this video is super old but i wanted to comment. I actually handle cold butter similar to that "butter knife 2" bit. I scrape a little off the top with the serrated side then spread it. Not nearly as much as you scrape off but i find it spreads easier by scraping a thin layer off the top then, after placing the butter onto the toast, scraping again the same way but spreading it as i do. It spreads really nicely that way.

Butter doesn't need to be cold. It's safe for butter to be room temperature, and that actually helps it get soft. If you used butter straight from the fridge, it'll resolidify immediately. If you waited for room temp, it would have done what you wanted.

Same in some parts of Switzerland. We start to learn it in second grade. But we also have to learn french so some learn that first. But I think because english is practically the world language now everybody learns it. And it is everywhere.

In England we don't tend to learn a second language until we start high school (age 11-12) and that is usually French, although I learnt German! We can then take 2 languages until we are 15 or so when we can drop them, which most people do. I dropped French and carried German through until I was 16. However we learn really pointless things like about drugs and alcohol and we never learn proper language like how to ask for a drink or food! Also, they never make us learn the same thing very much so I've forgotten most of the German I learnt to speak although I can read and translate it fairly well

"Speaking two languages is cool" well don't you guys learn other languages at school in Little Britain? Here in Germany they taught us English and then either French or Latin at our school. So many people know three languages from school and maybe even one or two extra ones depending on what other languages are spoken by their parents at home. So yeah.

lifehacker123 I'm in Britain too, and we do indeed learn two languages, usually at around our 8th year in school, Spanish and French being what we learn~ also, it's nice to have one of my favourite KZbinrs coming from the same country as me~

For even more amazing ice cream sandis, you could use the Wafer Wizard to punch out blocks from a large chocolate chip sheet cookie and use those cut cookies/biscuits (depending on whether you love it soft or crunchy, respectively) in place of the wafers.

With the butter former thingamobob you should toast the bread because it should make the butter a lot warmer and it should kind of melt and then it will be easier to spread......hopefully

In America A second language is an elective. U have 2 want 2 learn it. We don't have any other language that we r required 2 learn. Though it is required that we take English class. Lol See even Americans have 2 "learn" English. I always say we speak American here, because we REALLY actually do not speak proper English. I think it is wonderful 2 learn other languages, so W2G every1 who knows another language not native 2 ur own!

In Sweden the children learn English in school from the age of nine. And a third language at the age of twelve, normally German or French. My self and my husband started learning our children English at the age of three. It's good to know more than one language 😉 Like your channel thanks for all the fun.

Home-made icecream sandwiches? With wafers? And this is popular enough that you can buy both plain wafers and a gadget to make ice cream wafer sandwiches??? In America we just buy them from the store, and the "bread" bit of the sandwich is more like a cookie than a wafer. I don't even think we have unflavored wafers in stores... We have the cream-sandwich wafers (basically wider kit kats without the chocolate coating) in multiple flavors though, just not ice cream.

NothingIsSacred I'll bet you do have unflavored (well, they're made with sugar) wafers in stores, you just don't notice them for reasons of convenience which is absolutely fine. When I started to cook my own food I was somewhat amazed what kind of stuff there is in supermarkets. I'm from Germany tho, but I think it's a thing you will notice it, if you ever need it.

for the butter grater, it would be great on a hot food item, like a baked potato, toast (not just bread) popcorn, mashed potatoes, etc. and the knife said to put the butter on toast, not bread. so maybe it needs the eat of the food item to help it along.
