Agreed - I'll take a Tweed Pro Junior IV with the stock Jensen P10R alnico over a Blues Junior any day. Even the Tweed Blues Junior with the 12" P12N speaker didn't sound as good to me at any volume. Putting a combo amp close to the back wall as shown in this video can help accentuate the bass, producing a warmer tone if desired. For the opposite effect, put it on a stand and tilt it back - you'll be amazed! ☮

Thanks for the review ! Does it hum and can you also get beautiful clean tube tones at low practice volume?
@MrBossei10 ай бұрын
Thank you! 🙏 Didn’t have any hum on my Pro junior. The cleans were wonderful but it was a bit too loud for apartment at low volume. You have to dial it up to 2,5 - 3 to get the clear clean tones. It’s 15 watts with only one volume control. I have switched to a Tone King Gremlin. It has 5 watts and really good attenuator built in. It’s expensive but I found a used one. It has great, warm blackface clean at bedroom level. But the Pro junior is a really great amp. Only a bit too loud for me.

It's great to see you again! I love the sound and simplicity of Pro Junior IV. Could you do a demo with humbucker guitar if you have some spare time? Thank you 😃

Very informative review, thank you. So this would work as a bedroom amp?
@MrBossei2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙏 Yes, absolutely. But you need pedals to get overdrive. Like a Boss BD-2 which is very transparent, natural and keeps the core tone from the amplifier.

For playing pink floyd and jimi hendrix this amp or vox AC10C1 please ?
@MrBossei Жыл бұрын
That was a tough question. Two very different sounds. David Gilmours sound is very clean and big and Hendrix is rough. I think you should buy a Boss Katana. It definitely works for a wide palette of tones including Hendrix and Gilmour. AC10 and Pro junior are not the best choices for your wishes.
@VintageRadius7 ай бұрын
But of the two I would go Pro Junior for sure if you want more flexibility and to get Gilmour and Hendrix tones. Agree you’re going to want to start adding pedals. For Hendrix you might get a lower gain plexi-style pedal and set it very clean or a bit dirty depending on song, and run a fuzz face in front of it. That exact setup would sound good for Gilmour, but you start thinking about modulation pedals soon (why not?). Katana will do all that in one box but id prefer the Pro Junior and to start a pedal collection

Hej Bosse, what a simple yet great review of the Pro Junior! It gave me the push to buy this amp. And I totally agree: it’s a great little amp and I like it very much. Tack så mycket!

@@MrBosseiYou are totally right about that. Could you maybe do a demo with some of your pedals?
@MrBossei Жыл бұрын
@@joeyjojo8200 That´s a good idea. I´ve found out that at high volumes the Pro junior does not need pedals. It has a nice breakup and saturation without pedals. At low volume, for me, a transparent overdrive with good dynamics sounds best. The amp already has midrange so for instance a tubescreamer that cuts bass and pushes mids just makes it sound boxy and kills dynamics. My Wampler Pantheon bluesbreaker type overdrive works best for me because it only adds natural, tube like overdrive at low volume without changing the eq. Another great transparent amp-like pedal is MXR Timmy. 🙂 And at low volumes the amp really benefits from a good reverb pedal. I have a Prussian blue overdrive and like it very much but I suspect a TC HOF can do a good job as well.
@joeyjojo8200 Жыл бұрын
@@MrBossei Thank you, Bosse, for sharing this information! I am very interested in the sound with your Pantheon. Maybe a boost pedal with bass/treble knobs would also work well?
@MrBossei Жыл бұрын
@@joeyjojo8200 But a boost pedal is for pushing the amp and I think the Pro junior is already extremely loud. You can never add overdrive at low volume with a typical boost pedal. Ok - it works with a TC Spark booster but that overdrive is not so pleasing at low volume.. I think you should go for a natural sounding overdrive, not a boost pedal. Something that doesn´t cut bass.

When bought mine, had the chance to compare this to Blues Junior,meven connecting them to the same speaker. Pro Jr sounds waaaay better (for me, at least). Also, it is biased a little too hot, had problems because of that - one final tube failed. Better check Bias!
@MrBossei Жыл бұрын
I agree. Had three Blues juniors but prefer Pro junior. Clearer and more dynamic. (Yes. Heard they should be a little hot on the bias even in the version IV - maybe it helps that mine is mostly used at low volume)
@PeterSchuett4 ай бұрын
Pro Jr IV comes with a new circuit design and now uses a cathode bias solution. This way it is not too hot any more and one does not have to exchange a resistor any more to be save.
