Beautiful, a craftsman again memories of what I wanted back in the day.

Me too, but in 1973 I got instead, a deal on a new Motobecane Grand Record, full Campagnolo, the toolbox, & a Brooks Swallow saddle. All of which broke me. I rode, the wheels off that bike, for 10 years, & gave the whole shebang over to a friend to whom I owed a big favour, when I returned to Australia. & yes, great restoration, well deserved win.

@@donnovicki9771 I don't need to tell you that you need to look under "every" rock, & if you're very lucky, one day it will just be there. I don't know where you are, but I'm in Western Australia, & our dollar is rubbish. I know a family here, Brit expat, they have a lovely old independent bike shop, the ramshackle kind that is forever stuck in the 60s. Terry is 90 now, Lorretta 84, & their son runs it, but Terry & Lorretta used to work for Motobecane back in the day. I will be seeing them tomorrow because I am giving them an un-used set of Veloflex tyres that came on a never used used set of Mavic rims laced to new uniglide Dura Ace hubs that I bought a while back for the bargain price of AUD$250. The tyres are for Terry's all original 1952 Bianchi (full Stronglite) that he raced in Europe back then. It's now an un-restored display bike, & the only one I've ever seen so. Looks like its been to the moon & back, but very nice. If you like, I could ask, & look around for a frame & fork for you, with our economy the way it is, it might be viable?

@@returnofthenative Appreciate the offer I am in Pennsylvania USA. Tomorrow, we are going to an estate sale, where there is a very nice Colnago (Super I think, can't tell from the one pic.) with any luck I'll be out the door with my dream Italian Bike provided it's the right size. I'll still keep my open for a GR though. Cheers from the U.S.. I always wanted to move to Australia.

Great to see the vintage bikes so lovingly detailed and restored. In the olden days, the toe straps were twisted when laced through the back of the pedals to keep the buckles in place. Two twirls and that’d lock the strap so the buckle never slides around

Very nice work Brett, congratulations & so well deserved. I've been trying to worm a Super frameset out of a huge local Colnago hoarder that I know for the year passed, & he becomes extremely anxious & agitated every time I mention it. He only has about 50 or 60 Colnagos. Is there any technique you think might work? BTW, I have an immaculate & unblemished original condition Flema, (Fritz Fleck, Mannheim, Germany) 1977. He was a mad lad, 1st to produce Titanium, 1969/70 I think, almost killed his test pilot, went back to steel, & he would only build for select National Teams riders, basically they had to win gold first, & only then would they get the bike, if he was in a good mood. If you're unfamiliar, do check him out. Mine is mounted with SR cranks & the drilled chainrings, Sugino Aero Mighty pedals & tit clips. Simplex derailleur, & I recently found it a set of NOS Simplex friction shifters. I also treated it to a full set of NOS Modolo brakes, incuding pads, & a Berthoud tit saddle. I'm in Aust, & I recall you saying that the currency exchange rate was an issue. Well same here. Love your vids.

That's a much nicer super than mine from the early 90s, I believe mine is a c93?, but I also understand it wasn't actually made in the colnago factory. Made from CrMo4 tubing it lacks all the fancy cutouts and details of the earlier models and it seems to be an export model. Only found one photo online which even resembles it....it rides really nice tho and is unbelievably stable on a descent...congrats on the award👍

That’s interesting, I was under the impression that all early Supers were made with Columbus SL or SP tubing and later ones (post 92) were either built using Tange then even later, Brain tubing.

Beautiful BUT why oh why does every restoration have brake cables way too long and not use Alfredo Binda Extra toe straps ? If your gonna have a vintage pro bike know how too set it up like one , its the details that matter. Its not rocket science..............
@BuffsVintageBikes

Thanks for the feedback 👍🏼 Question 1: when you do a bike for a client you set it up the way the client wants it. BTW, there’s nothing wrong with the length of those cables, they’re a perfectly acceptable length. Question 2: Because we live in South Africa and unlike 1st world countries, we unfortunately can’t just walk to the corner bike shop and buy a set of Alfredo Binda toe straps. Not it’s not rocket science, that’s easy, this is vintage bike restoration, it’s a lot more complicated 😉🤪
