hah, the seemingly chilled-out conversation is quite a stark contrast to the intense driving!
@DavidMcCoyII5 күн бұрын
That's how you maintain intense driving. If you start getting nervous, you start overthinking and making mistakes. I'll often sing while driving rush hour traffic, makes it so much easier to focus
@alfiehawes24123 күн бұрын
That’s often how you can tell a good driver from someone who just drives fast. A really good driver will always have time to say thank you (like Chris does), for example, and will pretty much always appear to make very slow movements inside the cockpit. You’re right though, it doesn’t look like the two videos should match up 😂

Yes, considerably better than the last video, especially on the roundabouts. I do find this camera makes things look a lot faster with tighter gaps than the dashcams did though, probably a bit misleading, it would be good to have a speed display on it again.

alot of people that see this kind of stuff an then see the sirens and lights cut out seem to assume that they are just avoiding traffic, not realising that dispatch will dispatch multiple units to the same scene an stand down the ones that arrive after other ones

Excelent driving! But I was wondering if you could make a "tips and tricks" type of emergency vehicle driving video? I'm soon going to be finishing my paramedic's degree and I want to be an ambulance driver-paramedic, so any advice from you, who I think are an amazing first responder driver, would be much appreciated!

the camera foreshortening makes some of those overtakes look a bit dodgy, but 'it's all an illusion'. My dad was the station Sarge at Letchworth in the 70's and I did a few ride along's with some of the lads - probably wouldn't get away with that now!

Be interested in knowing if the org Chris works for allows modification of their response vehicles beyond OEM spec? Maybe not deep internals and going into boring the cylinders or turbo swaps, but maybe enhanced brake discs/pads, differing suspension or even a K&N air filter?
@WouterHermans3 күн бұрын
That's all marginal compared to getting an EV. The long windup of the 235ps diesel is tedious if you're used to a recent performant EV. Even the basic Tesla Model Y will easily pull away from this XC90 with room to spare.
@mouldyrx82 күн бұрын
Most police/ambulance vehicles are “authorities spec” some will have upgraded brakes and suspension, but mainly the spec is having additional wiring looms for the emergency warning equipment added to the vehicle after leaving the factory. You can view the changes on most manufacturers website sites. I know Volvo are listed

At 2:26 you’re overtaking approaching a hazard, (junction on the right), van reacts by braking, car in front reacts by braking, car in front has no reaction by the looks of it. Yes, they’re slightly positioned towards the near side, but not enough. You should have probably waited for confirmation that they weren’t going to turn right before committing to the overtake. A lack of indication by them wouldn’t be enough to assume they weren’t turning right. Just my thoughts.
@rustydusty29924 күн бұрын
@cbooqwerty I think as it remained in position 1 in the lane then it was a reasonable assumption that the car opposite the junction was not going to turn right.

Should have shut down lights and sirens when cancelled, not carried on in emergency mode. If he had hit someone or someone hit someone else trying to get out of the way it would all be down to him. Very unprofessional.
