He Shot My Arm Off Interview
bit.ly/2CHLudt
The first thing you'll learn when you take a firearm self-defense course is that situational awareness will put you in a position to win most gun fights.
It wasn't that he was such a fantastic shot that saved him; he had situational awareness and a tool to deal with the information his situational awareness gave him.
A lot of people in California live in a fantasy world.
They think they can virtue signal their way out of problems.
Criminals don't care about your virtue signal; they thrive on it!
They understand how naive it makes you and thus makes their job so much easier. All these virtue signaling policies do is embolden criminals.
Reality also doesn't care about your virtue signal.
You can make all the gun laws you want; criminals will still have guns, and they'll use those guns to victimize you, and the cops won't be able to get there in time to do anything about it.
This means you are the only person responsible for your safety.
That's the reality of using your gun in self-defense.
You carry a gun because you value life so much that you want to protect it; the paradox is that sometimes people will force you to take a life to defend it.
That comes with a massive amount of stress.
That's not even factoring in the added stress and money that comes from situations where you have to go to court to defend yourself if there isn't any video to make it clear that it was justified.

I've had a .270 Remington 700 that my grandfather bought for me since I was 5. I was taught from even before then that guns were never a toy. And even 1 instance of me treating them as such meant a permanent ban until I was deemed old enough to be responsible or I could buy my own.

Back in the 50’s & 60’s we had gun safety classes in school. We had rifle teams and we even carried guns across campus and NO ONE WAS EVER SHOT OR KILLED ! Our Movie Heroes even did gun safety on their shows and gun safety around the country at schools. See if you could get a modern day movie star (who makes millions using guns in their movies) to give a talk to kids about gun safety and responsibility!!

I always hear people talking about how when they were in high school, in the '50s, '60s, or 70s, they had rifle practice during gym or after school or something, and would have rifles in the school, or on a gun rack in their truck, and it blows my mind. Society has been broken over the decades, and it absolutely seems deliberate, planned and orchestrated.

This tired old semantics argument... the AR platform was purposely designed for military use as an assault rifle... the lack of select fire is hardly a game-changer as full-auto isn't typically used, even in combat. I'm pro gun and pro ar, but these silly arguments bug me. Assault Rifles like the AR are designed for military use against armed combatants, which is exactly why we need them to uphold the 2nd amendment. The argument that they are "too deadly" is a circular one--why would you prevent your "well regulated militia" from having an effective weapon?

I am also 80. Eighteen months ago, at night, I was forced within our own home to use my Glock to defend my wife and myself from a violent intruder. The police, when they arrived, were great and they had responded as quickly as humanly possible to our initial 911 call, but in the fourteen minutes before they arrived we were on our own. Through teamwork in fighting off the intruder and wounding him with our firearm, WE WERE ON OUR OWN. They arrested the man, still within our home, and all ended OK, but without the firearm, training to use it, and situational awareness we would have been toast. Everything you talk about is true and so, so important. Thank you.

@Schwarzvogel1
@Schwarzvogel1 Жыл бұрын
@@drtmi8789 That's quite gauche of you to say that he needs more range time just because he didn't kill the intruder. The whole point of self-defence is to *stop* your assailant, not necessarily to kill him. What happens to him after you stop his attack or not is immaterial at the time of the assault. Did Mr. Jenkins manage to stop his assailant before the perp was able to harm him and his wife? Yes. So it sounds like Mr. Jenkins' training and range time paid off pretty damn well... and since the intruder didn't die, he isn't potentially facing a homicide or even murder charge due to overzealous prosecutors who like to hammer innocent, law-abiding people with more fervor than they go after career criminals. Moreover, he doesn't have to live with the fact that he ended another human's life, because unless you are some sort of psychopath, actually killing another human being will change you forever.

Our country has allowed and pushed divorce and rewards single moms as hero’s. When things go bad everyone says where was the dad. The dad was disrespected and made to leave and pay the ex and given a few weeks in the summer and every other weekend in most cases. This is even if the wife cheated found a new boyfriend the dad pays and loses his children. We need at fault divorce where a judge and jury get down to why divorce is the only answer and who is at fault. If a man beats or cheat he goes to jail for 6 months then pays when he gets out. If a woman beats or cheats she gets the same treatment. This will greatly reduce people stepping outside their marriage.

My weapon is my only protection since I’m totally unable to get away. I thank the good Lord for muscle memory. Thank you Colin! Last week my car and I were surrounded by 5 wannabe gang bangers. I had just purchased a little bit of groceries for my homemade dog food for my home K9. They must have seen me go into the store with my cane and my efforts to stay standing as I got my cart to shop and hold on to . When I came outside- there were two next to my drivers door sitting on the curb in my handicap parking spot . I said hello to the two men and waited for them to get up and let me open my drivers door . They wouldn’t, so thinking they were dense I asked them politely if they could scoot over and they laughed at me and then three more showed up on the passenger side of the car / I turned on my car alarm and they laughed at me again! I couldn’t scurry away fast enough and I tried but they followed me. I don’t carry a big purse I only had my debit card - I yelled to them to back off and they wouldn’t. I then drew . Dropped my cane and told them to back off. Thankful that they did. During this whole 3-5 minutes not one human came to help me. Not one

Not surprised no one came to help. Unclear from your story how many others were within range to see or hear, but more importantly people are dense and do not recognize situations unfolding right before their eyes. Example would be my ex wife who almost got us shot during a traffic stop, didn’t know what I was talking about when I aborted getting gas to drive to neighboring gas station (to borrow phone to report assault in progress) and didn’t recognize bodies when two guys came flying off car in next lane on the highway. More commonly now that I live in an open carry state, it is clear most people are utterly unaware of those open carrying right next to them - not talking don’t care, simply don’t see it.

My dad gave me my 1st 22 for my 8th birthday but with the stipulation that I couldn't take it out alone until I had my hunters safety and could prove to him that I knew how to handle it safely and responsibly. He took me to go shooting often and was there with me through the entire hunters safety class. It was instilled into me from the get go that owning a gun was a big responsibility and that I now held the power to take life which I understood the gravity of perfectly even at 8 years old. I am so glad that I have been blessed with such a great family who taught me the right way to conduct myself as a gun owner. Everyone in my hometown had guns and most of them had large arsenals but I think about it now and realize that it was honestly looked at back then as an absolutely necessary part of growing up and just as expected as taking the next breath of air. Whether or not we had a "right" to our guns was never even a question, it was like an innate knowledge. I hope that we Americans can get back to that kind of thinking about having guns

Your mention of kids with guns brought back memories of a dear friend of mine, Arthur Jackson who passed away just a few years ago. He would tell stories of growing up in NYC and traveling to and from smallbore rifle matches with his rifle sling over shoulder, on the New York subway. He went on to shoot on three Olympic Teams, capturing a Bronze Medal in 1951(I believe). He remained active in shooting well into his 80s placing third on the American Palma team tryouts at the age of 75. He was a lifelong defender of our rights, but he never really experienced the internet. Anyway, thank you for your work on behalf of our rights. It's good to finally win a few.

Good. I love the fact that these self-defense situations are shedding a light on the realities of using a gun (in its fullest capacity, both literally and figuratively, pun somewhat intended on the lame-ass magazine capacity limits and bans on certain types of weapons) for protection and why lawful people should have one are becoming so common that the narrative is crumbling before our very eyes. You love to see it.

Time we Simplify our Nations Laws + Penalties based on costs of Damages . Current Expectation for Citizens to know , Information Restricted from Access Causes Malfunctions ! America's Laws Book " Citizens Copy " Listing each Law Prosecuting against Harm + Damages for Compensation ! End Failed Drug War ! No Violence , no Damages , no Theft , no Victims = NO CRIME ! Theft causes Deprivation + Requires Compensation ! Audit + Fix ! Trump / DeSantis Audits for every Agency Tax $ pays . ReVote on ALL laws they want to Harass + attack citizens with ! ReVote on Penalties for Crimes "Citizens" agree on . Reduce + eliminate swollen laws lists used to Attack Citizens UnJustly ! All Agencies need Required Audits ! Restructuring Agencies to Defend our Citizens from Threats ! Example : Internet needs better Safety measures ! CIA + FBI + DOJ + DEA ALL have neglected Responsibilities to Citizens Protection . Corruption + Treasonous Destructive Actions have Occured from each ! Rather than monitor Citizens , Prevent other nations from Monitoring Our Citizens ! Rather than Disarm Citizens , Teach Firearm Safety basics ! Education Mandatory Audits ! Citizens need to Vote on Curriculum taught to America's Citizens ! I do recommend considering Military Service for Career Accreditations + Certifications ! Before graduation all students need basic life information + Skills ! Drivers education + Business Ethics + small Business registration + start ups basics ! Through ROTC or Class of its own , Firearm Safety basics needs to be Required ! More than drivers educations Importance , Teaching Responsible use + Safe handling will Solve most problems ! National Anthem + Pledge of Aliegence "Original" with GOD ! Congress : Mandatory * 1 Issue per bill proposed ! 1 Subject per bill proposed ! Single Budget Amendments per bill . Yes , Mandatory Division of each part sperated + Divided ! Zero ride along attachments on bills proposed ! Tint laws are Petty + need Removed ! Valid Laws = Harm Prevention + Citizen Protection . Crime = Harm to People or Property . Excessive Laws = UnJust Harassment + Petty Attacks . Audit + ReVote on ALL Laws ! Cancel the war on Citizens ! America's Potential Remains Greater than Current Results ! Our citizens need Reminded how Valuable we Each are ! Team Loyalty Vital + Required for OUR United Success ! Global Competition on all subjects + issues ! Education Ranks + National Preparedness Ranks + Global Economy Ranks ! Population Social Interactive Levels * Society Temperament Ranks ! America was Top Shelf + Envied by most every country ! One becomes a criminal when they break the law. Criminals doesn’t respect the law let alone obey them. I think what you meant to say was these criminals will think twice before engaging once they know you have guns and training. You can defend yourself until the authorities arrive to handle the situation, but until then it’s best to have a gun to protect you and those close to you

I'm 72 years old. When I was growing up in the 50s & 60s, we had bullies and the mentally ill. What we didn't have were mass shootings, or kids with no respect for human life. We had prayer in schools, we recited the Pledge of Allegiance every morning at the start of the school day. I remember kids as early as 2nd grade bringing Mauser and Arisaka rifles their fathers brought back from the war, to show and tell. We would just get on the bus and when we got to school we gave it to our teacher and went out to play until first bell. When I was in high school in San Diego county California my sophomore year my buddy and I were chosen to be Sargeants at Arms. "Cool" we said, "What does that mean?" "It means" we were told that we would sit out side the cafeteria and "guard" the door so only the students participating in the political convention, could get in. "Cool" we said and the next day my buddy brought a Japanese Nambu Type 99 machine gun DEWAT, to school and we set it up on a picnic table outside the cafeteria with a belt of M60 blanks laid across it. When the Vice Principal came by and saw us he asked "What are you two fools up to now?" We explained the situation to him and he walked away shaking his head and mumbling to himself. There were no SWAT TEAMS no "counselors" no panic. We truly lived in another world then.
