Yup. "The FNP-45 Tactical was developed to be entered into the Joint Combat Pistol from late 2005 to early 2006 for a new military sidearm to replace the M9 Pistol. The program was started in 2005 and run by USSOCOM which was a merger of two earlier programs, the army's Future Handgun System (FHS) and the Special Operations Forces Combat Pistol." My understanding is that the completion was dropped for whatever reason and FN decided to release a civilian version of it. I owned one for a couple of years and still miss it. Great gun.

The problem is both of those guns are hard no for people with small to medium sized hands. I’m thinking.45 platforms are naturally going to be thicker platforms, that having been said you can get fine alternatives from Smith & Wesson, like the XD in .45 or the original 1911 frame. My FNX45 Tac is hands down my favorite gun of all time… that single action trigger pull is sooooo light and amazing
@papak84432 ай бұрын
Got the FNX 45 Tactical a few years ago, and it's my favorite 45. Very good accuracy, especially with a red dot. I'm left handed, and this thing is fully ambidextrous. Fifteen rounds of .45 ACP is a big selling point. It is a large pistol. I'm 6'3" with XL hands. My wife is 5"1" with small hands. She has a hard time shooting this. My only complaint would be the trigger. Overall, there's a good bit of creep, and the double action trigger pull is terrible IMO. The single action trigger is very shoot-able after getting accustomed to it. Manually pulling the hammer back for the first shot is SOP for me with this one. With a lot of guns, I change out some parts immediately, but I've left this one standard. All I did was buy extra mags, a light (that's normally not on the pistol), and add a Holosun HS507C-X2 red dot with ACSS Vulcan Reticle from Primary Arms (my preferred handgun red dot for now). Now that I mention it, I might have to see if there's a good replacement trigger for the FNX 45 Tactical. I gave up on that initially after coming up empty. As far as comparing the two, the FN 545 Tactical wasn't available when I bought the FNX 45 Tactical. The FNX 45 Tactical comes with hammer-fired nostalgia, and the ambidextrous external safety - with de-cocker. It also has a longer barrel. I'm not saying it's better, but I don't feel "the need" for the FN 545 Tactical... at least not yet.
@hobbstactv25715 ай бұрын
I bought the FNP-45T when it first came out. It was great. When the FNX came out, I switched over because the magazines weren't going to be the same and FN said they weren't supporting the older mags anymore. The FNX was also great, EXCEPT it did not like to feed my preferred carry ammo. So when the FN545 came out, I upgraded again, and I gotta say it was worth the wait. Better trigger, more capacity, better recoil. Literally everything is better.

better trigger than fnx or better than previous 509?
@hobbstactv25715 ай бұрын
@@bradleyheaton9871 I haven't shot a 509 so I have no frame of reference to that, but better than the FNX by a mile, even the FNX single action. It's mostly subjective, your opinion may differ from mine, but the "sproingy" feel of the FNX always grated on my nerves. The thing about the 545 that could use some improvement is the hinged trigger though, it adds a bit of mush that I feel a solid trigger with a Glock-style dingus wouldn't. But on the whole, having a single, repeatable trigger pull in the striker fired is preferable to the DA/SA of the hammer.

I ALWAYS go to Colion Noir video before I make a firearm purchase - I was stuck on these two but am going to go get the 545

I own a 510 and with a light and optic she’s looking pretty sweet. Later on I’m gonna get the 545.

I’ve only ever met 1 person who really did not care of looks. He always bought cheaper systems and still only will because to him they all shoot the same round and do the same thing. To me it’s got to look good enough to give you confidence. Like a car. What I enjoy about this video is that these 2 systems are very close. But I’ve also already got the FNX tac and a 509c. I absolutely love both and wanted a 45 in the frame of the 509 and I still wish they would come out with a 545c. I love the FNX which it is butter to shoot and I prefer it to be my home defense go to at the moment. Night sights. Sights are right on. I can stack shots. It’s big and heavy though. Press checking is a hassle too because of the hammer. The muzzle rise is from the fact that all of the weight is in the slide and magazine so as you shoot it becomes too heavy. I plan on getting the 545 next year and the 510. I love FN and have a hard time shopping outside of them lol

Great guns but huge! These are away/go to war guns for the 5%. My pony .44 is the xds mod2 and the Glock 36. Love them, carry spare mag or 2. Tucker gun leather makes a great holster for the xds with my laser/light … Great video as always

Love my FNX-45 tactical, in a vertical shoulder harness it isn't bad at all. Just too hot in TX July and August.

I own both. I love the carry of the 545 in hot months. And the FNX during cold. But shooting. I’m better with the FNX. It feels slower. The 545 is a little more snappy. Which increases my follow up shot time when trying to be precise.

I literally called Exile Armory(best price for this gun nationally) this morning FN 545 Tactical. I already on the FNX 45 Tactical. Since they don't have it in stock I'm buying a CMMG Banshee 45. I will get the 545 when Exile Armory has it back in stock.

FNX 45 is seated in my thigh holster. 100% the best 45 platform in my humble opinion. Smooth operation end to end. Surprisingly low recoil. Lightweight. Nothing about it that I don't like. I also have 4x8 hands, so the fit is perfect. We all use what works best for us individually.

I would personally go with the 545 for ergonomics. I do love hammer fired triggers though. Might go to the SAR K2 for a hammer fired 45.

I was expecting to see the HK45 Tactical if you were talking about the best 45ACP handguns, but I suppose that since HK doesn't offer one that's optic-ready, it's probably not tacticool enough for some folks.

Magazine only holds 10 rounds? I would rather get a 1911 with such a low round count.

I’ve been so torn and one of these guns will be in my safe this week. Last October I saved pics of the FNX 45T, the Steiner MPS FDE and the Osprey FDE. Osprey in hand now actually approved in 2 days. My take on the pistols. FNX feels better in my hand. 545 slide shape and fwd serrations feel better to me. FNX trigger better, 545 price better, FNX has been on my list for a while. FNX may go away and be harder to obtain later. I’m so torn

I once had the FNX .45 stainless steel. Great piece. But now, I rock with the HK USP .45, HK 45, and HK 45c. The best set of .45s out there today.

Well now this is a interesting video and a interesting comparison. I am definitely not qualified to comment on the 5:45 FN but I do own the fnx45 tactical in fde and couldn't be happier. Myself, I prefer the smoothness of a hammer fire and I like the decocker. Definitely looks makes a huge difference to me and that is why I do not own a Hi-Point or a Glock. We all know that high points and Glocks go bang every time so if that's all you care about then they are for you.

I own both and agree with you.

In MOP, if looks mattered I would never buy an FN. As a combat veteran of the US Army, performance matters most. The truth is it performs incredibly well according to top KZbin content providers. So, I want to give an FN 545 Tactical a try.
