Mr Cool are actually made by Gree. Midea and Gree make almost all the mini splits. Except for Daikin, Fujitsu, and Mitsubishi they make their own.

Honestly, Mr Cool has a pretty good product line. Homeowners usually mess up the small things on the DIY ones, but they aren’t bad when the homeowner gets the units mounted level and actually follows the directions. The non-diy Mr. Cool universal split ducted systems are legit.

I'm a commercial tech, so I will not be seeing a "Mr Cool" unit, but I also would not recommend minis, because of the high price of proprietary OEM replacement parts. Each unit is different, and you can't buy a cheap board or compressor online. They know that they have you over a barrel, unlike with a conventional split system, where compressors, boards, and fan motors are available everywhere, and at a lower price. You have been warned.

In Florida tons of carrier parts. Most of the hvac guys want you to get a carrier because other systems hard to get parts for.

Garbage units compared to Mitsubishi, but I can definitely see the business case for being a Mr. Cool dealer since I have so many nut sack home owners aaking me about them. There probably is some money to cash in on there.

The only thing that stops me from getting a mr cool system for me to install myself is: Useless extra long lineset due to length needed specialty linesets when installed cause every HVAC tech to not want to work on it, thinking junk is going to end up in the lines/compressor/evaporator/condensor/valves and not wanting to deal with that headache having to deal with idiots installing improperly and having to correct their mistakes (some HVAC people don't want stacks from hacks) Having to spend more than needed for a heat pump system, just so it's End User install friendly

samsung needs to stick to TV's. Just pulled out a 6 year old unit leaking from the evaporator. it's a crap shoot

@@F12255 Just replaced my Samsung 8,000 btu window unit a week ago. It just couldn't keep up any more. I bought it in 94. 17 years for a 170 sqft second-floor bedroom at old house, and 13 years in my 400 sqft garage at this house. Replaced it with a Richmond 10,000 btu window inverter unit (no heat). We'll see about longevity.

Been doing this trade for about 28 years not big into residential but know how to do it . but would love to do a job with you and not even looking to get paid. Just the experience in the fun times doing a well done craftsmanship job.

Worked on plenty of them. They're essentially the same all around. There are a couple of manufactures and the swap the sticker on the front. The major difference in a lot of these is the warranty that they carry. Most HVAC guys where I'm at won't touch anything customer installed.

No, but if the compressor uses mineral oil, it can take R422B, and if the compressor has POE oil, then it can use R407C. But no, not R410a. An R22 compressor and coils are not designed for the system pressures of R410a. You would kill an R22 compressor with R410a.

Yes, if you replace the indoor coil, TXV, out door coil, compressor, fan, filter drier and line-set. We do it all the time. For Contractors, they come in sets to work with to make it easier. An Outdoor set and an Indoor set. Usually you have to buy the connecting piping separately, but it can be done.
