I worked in a fish plant packaging these meals in the summer of 2013, the salt was coarse chunks sprinkled on by who ever was bagging the fillets so it probably isn't actually 5%. Most of the fillets were okay quality, but sometimes the fish could get mushed after cooking by having too many other packs on top of it. The species of salmon was Chinook, which is a pretty good type of salmon. Most people rate the 5 species of pacific salmon as follows; Sockeye,Chinook, Coho, Pink, Chum.

The reason they give you alot of sauce in the the main(salmon) is it allows you to pour some in the secondary bag. Either rice or potatoes. We used to to pour some of the gravy/ sauce into the secondary when I was in.

If you have the luxury of cooking with an actual heat source and not heater bags you can take that bread and slice it down the middle and throw it on a pot lid over the heat and "toast" the cut side. Doing this seems to make the bread soften and taste much better, especially with the PB&J. If you ever get your hands on another IMP give it a try.

I stopped in at a small second hand store that has a small military section in Red Deer, AB. Canada. Lot's of nice stuff. I found a completely sealed Canadian ration pack of the same era as you have in you're video. I paid $5.00. I want to open it, but at the same time, It is sealed and in it's original condition. This one of course is labeled in French and English. Breakfast/lunch-menu no. 6 breakfast sausages " 04 " . The fella at the store said he had another one that he and a friend tried out. According to him, it was all OK and tasted not bad.

OK. You answered my question. Mylar pack for peaches and salmon. Where is the thin dimension aluminum sardine/herring tin that could then be used for additional metal materials, spearheads, fishing spear heads, pull ring (made into "3" fish hooks), pull tin lid made into a rolled edge and long razor-sharp cutting edge knife, cut out tiny needles/pins, ... tin for mirror .... I guess you could use mylar as a reflecting mirror hmmmpppfff! No barter items like chocolate or smokes. Only coffee/tea/sugar/milk substitute, peanut butter/jam, lemon drink(s), spices, sauces, cookie, and chewing gum. Good matches, but no burning fuel, unless you use paper towel -woof! Big flame "woof," no tinder, must gather than to make hot bread, hot salmon, hot peaches. Where was that self-rehydrating fiber dinner plate hidden in the meal packet? Hehehehe.

4:31 Salmon Filet. Ingredients: Salmon and salt. It doesn't get much better than that, as far as getting what you expect. In a salmon MRE, if you can get MREs with salmon, it'd probably have over 10 ingredients, many of which sound like things from the periodic table. I doubt the IMP would last as long as an MRE, but I dare say it'd be tastier and healthier :P As for Bear Paws, apparently they're kind of a big thing in Alberta, but while growing up in Newfoundland, I never even heard of them. Different cultures. 6:11 HAH! Jeff Dunham, I remember when he was big, didn't expect to hear a sound clip of him, especially in a vid made so recently. Glad to hear the Canadian rations are so good! Shame about the coffee, but I love how everything seems more geared towards enjoyability rather than making it last 5+ years.

I've had an IMP before and that bread IS good! I do NOT like U.S. MRE snack breads. They have a funky after taste. The U.S. did produce this bread at one time and put them in a brown foil MRE pack like your accessory packets used to come in and it was a treat when I got it in the field. I got a few packs of it at ROTC summer camp many years ago. I would imagine that this bread probably doesn't last as long in storage as the newer stuff does, but you're right, the IMP bread's flavor leaves OUR MRE bread in the dust.
