Here's the opening of the case and first look:
• MRE Unboxing: XMRE 24-...
And here's the review of the first meal made from this menu:
• MRE Review: XMRE 3000X...
Here's a look at the second of two meals I made from Menu No.1 of XMRE's latest 24-Hour Rations. This one has Beef Brisket as the main course. Being a 24-hour ration, this could have been broken up in any way that someone wants/needs for a full day. It could be three meals, or a series of small meals/snacks eaten on the run. I decided to make two meals out of it to make it easier to review in two rather than three videos. As a meal, this one worked out pretty well.

gshultz9 - you are SO professional when doing these rations reviews, and yet we all LOVE your personality at the same time! That brisket looked so good! Wow, XMRE sure makes the standard, US Military MRE look wanting.

They weren't joking about the chocolate chip cookies being mini. I kinda like that they come in the smaller size. The beef surprisingly looks like beef. And looks pretty good. Great review as usual! Can't wait for the next one.

I'm so glad someone has gone into the details. for my assessment I was considering using one of these , or the first strike OR standard British 2hr ration . as I didn't want to carry 6 mres or one large heavy box I ended up with alot more space using two of the xmre. There is definitely a use for them. All thanks to your review . (from the UK)

We can expect to get "fresher entrees". Really? I seem to have noticed that they put old stuff in their single meals as well.

I understand why they made the "snack bread" smaller than the loaf that was originally made for the MREs but this is another one of those times where the the loaf works better than what's made now IMHO.

Is the snack bread sweet? I was wondering because it might have been good to use for a hot beef sandwich to soak up the gravy. Now I'm hungry. Thank you for the videos.

You should have crumbled some of the plain snack bread or crackers into the beef gravy or just put the bread on the plate before put out the beef and gravy. A field open face beef sandwich.

OK one question about heating, that xmre card says boil in water for 3-5min. I see xmre main entree are mre like and on mreinfo people say if they boil they do it for 10-15min. I'm from Europe so we don't have many of this stuff available here beside US mre packs... I wonder how long would you boil main dish in water if ration heater is not usable?
@gschultz9
@gschultz9 8 жыл бұрын
+A. Croatoan The thing to remember about these (and genuine MREs) is that the food is all completely cooked and "ready to eat". It doesn't NEED to be heated to be eaten. If you WANT to heat it then you can use an FRH or put it in hot or boiling water. How long you leave it in is just a matter of how hot you want it to be.

Just for Canadians to enjoy this product (now mind you, I live accross the River from Detroit) it costs $144.95USD to ship to Canada. That works out to$235.00 USD for four meals. Way too expensive!

Fail! I just opened my first of these and wanted to get back to you with the dates, as I promised. 2013 brisket and snack breads, and early 2014 cocoa and southwest beef. So much for freshness for the regular consumers. I might Che k the others as well. Hmmmmm...
@gschultz9
@gschultz9 8 жыл бұрын
+Andovarius Very disappointing to hear. As bad as it was to see the dates of the entrees in mine, at least most of the other components seemed to be very fresh. It's unfortunate to hear that so many of your components seem to be on the older side.

Is all that sodium intake good for a soldier while during battle?
@RJM1011
@RJM1011 8 жыл бұрын
+kennethsTutorials Yes.
@Whoozerdaddy
@Whoozerdaddy 8 жыл бұрын
+kennethsTutorials Absolutely. As with any strenuous physical activity, the big enemy (in this case, aside from the one shooting at you) is dehydration. Arguably even more so in a combat situation, given there is not only physical but extreme mental and emotional stress as well, making it more critical that hydration be maintained. A higher sodium level means more water is retained in the blood and tissues, helping to maintain muscle and brain function.
@gschultz9
@gschultz9 8 жыл бұрын
+Whoozerdaddy Thank you for the great answer Whoozerdaddy. About the only thing I'd add is that, yes, the sodium is perfect for a soldier in a stressful field environment, but possibly not such a great idea for civilian users. They're tempting to use in many outdoor activities (like camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking...), but not all of those situations would call for the greatly increased sodium intake needs that these were designed for. So people need to pay attention to the ingredients and be careful. I know at least one company (Sopakco?) sells a line of low-sodium MREs that I'm guessing is specifically for this reason.

I find it hilarious that they have those obscure date codes on commercial MREs as if the date of manufacture is some big secret. I guess it all goes along with the survivalist mindset, along with the Kool-aid and the nappies.
@gschultz9
@gschultz9 6 жыл бұрын
It does seem a bit unnecessary to do that for commercial ones, now that you mention it. But I suppose the first commercial rations were made by the same companies that military ones, so it was probably just natural (and cheaper) to date them the same way. And then the independent companies like Meal Kit Supply and XMRE must have just followed suit.

Seeing an MRE this neatly assembled is fucking with my mind. The years of memories engrained into my mind of cold lumpy garlic mash and frozen gelatinous blobs of fat clinging to pork rib patties does not fit the picture I'm seeing on my screen. Its like gustatory motion-sickness
