Fabulous video! I think it’s all very dependent on price. If I’m spending a lot then I will expect it to last. But it’s not something I tend to get hung up over. I have to say I am loving how laid back this video is! I hope you’ll keep that up in the future and I would love to see you do a q&a 💜

Thank you lovely Felicity, I totally understand where your coming from. When shelling out hard earned money I definitely expect a fragrance to last a decent amount of time, but yes best not to get too hung up on it! It’s just scented water! Thank you I really feel relaxed doing these types of sit down videos and they’re always so enjoyable to film. I’ll definitely do a Q/A very soon perhaps once I hit 1K 😊❤️❤️❤️.

It's always a fine balance between performance and intrusiveness. A friend once said to me, "when it comes to perfume, daring is not caring." 😊 Although I can't quite agree with that at as generalization, I certainly agree that being considerate is very important. In most cases, spraying under the clothing is a good compromise.

Good way to put it, a little bit of restraint is always wise. That’s a great quote I might steal it! 😆 Considering the environment is very wise as you said. Thank you for your input as always! 😉

Wonderful video! And let’s also keep in mind some people spray a fragrance once and expect it to last 3 days lol. Having realistic expectations on fragrances can help with disappointment. Eventually, you will shower it away 🤷🏾♂️. As long as it smells good and I like it, I don’t need it to last 23 hours. Great video! Thanks for sharing 😊

So true J, I agree, I definitely think many of us have unrealistic expectations! I personally feel we also smell things differently on us to how others do, and yes we’ll definitely eventually wash it away! Look forward to catching up on your videos! Happy Sunday friend ❤️🫶🏽

It’s fascinating. I get huge performance with Coromandel. It’s very clear and airy but super present. I can smell it on me for hours and even when I can’t smell it other people still tell me it smells amazing. I’m a moderate sprayer (5-6 sprays) and carry a wee decant of some. It’s easy to forget that our noses actually turn off but other people can clearly smell us. I prefer a more intimate bubble and moderate sillage personally.
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
This is exactly my experience and I couldn’t agree more, we all perceive smell so differently. I think I also get the perfect amount of sillage depth yet freshness from Coromandel due to the slight citrus opening it really is so special. So interesting hearing everyone share their thoughts. Thanks for sharing yours 😊🤍

Longevity is important to me in a fragrance but it depends on many factors. Fresh fragrances don't last longer and need to be refreshed throughout the day, while amber and woody fragrances generally get the job done all day. We must also take into account how it's stored, the batch, the concentration, reformulations, where you spray it (clothing or skin), the amount of sprays, the weather, the ingredients, etc. Most people don't consider, in my opinion, the most important of all; olfactory fatigue. You will go noseblind to the scent after a while. Just because you can't smell it or no one says anything about it doesn't mean it's not present and that others can't detect it. Fragrances that don't last as long get sprayed on skin, clothing, accessories, and I refresh throughout the day. I keep a 5ml decant of all of my scents and carry them with me. At this point, I know how long each one will last and when it's time to reapply. I enjoy getting that new, fresh burst of goodness halfway through the day.
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
Such great points and yes your absolutely right so many factors to consider. Understandably longevity is fairly important to most of us fragrance lovers but as you rightly pointed out where and how fragrance is applied makes a big difference, seasonal changes etc. I’ve also found some days the same fragrance I’ve worn previously lasts longer and projects more, even though I’ve not done anything particularly different. For myself I’ve identified temperature affects how each fragrance performs on me massively, during Summer months I prefer lighter fresher scents and am happy to reapply every few hours. Thank your for sharing your thoughts…. 😊
@diegovillavicencio3172 Жыл бұрын
I don't mind a short longevity, what I do mind is a poor projection/sillage. I honestly hate perfumes that literally no one can smell me, sometimes I can't smell myself either even though I'm the one wearing it. My absolute favorite perfume ever is Fresh Cream Cashmere by Philosophy and the sillage is so pooooooor. I don't know why I keep purchasing it LOL the scent itself is just delicious :(
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
That’s very interesting, we all keep going back to particular scents we love even thought the performance may be terrible. Do you ever find with certain perfumes are hard to smell after wearing them constantly? I can always detect even the faintest perfume on others but on myself I do sometimes struggle. Fresh cream sounds amazing I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for your comment. Have a wonderful day 😊🫶🏽

For me it also depends on the price. If I have to keep on spraying a Chanel Exclusiv several times a day, it's breaking my bank.

Resounding 'YES', it's mportant. My conclusion: Avoid the Designers. They're ripping their customers off. Maybe because fragrance is a side schtick for them. Stick with the niche Houses that do fragrance and ONLY frangrance. I've got over five hundred bucks sunk into a Tom Ford and a Chanel that are both little better than scented water. I've been toying with the thought of picking up a YSL Vestiare, but after my Chanel/TF experiences, I'm scared to pull the trigger. Samples will only tell you so much.
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I do think it does depend on the fragrance in question, some niche brands also don’t deliver when it comes to performance but are excellent at executing beautiful smelling fragrances. Luckily the Chanel fragrances I own last well at least 5-8 hours. TF has also let me down, I stopped at Tobacco Vanille as that doesn’t last more than a few hours on me. A friend however wears it and it lasts a long time on them…. Who knows? Thanks for commenting 😊

Coromandel is super long lasting on me & people at work kept complimenting me and asking what i was wearing! How many times are we going to explain that Perfumes performs differently on different people, skin chemistry, shower routine even diet contributes to how a fragrance performs on a person, everyone's experience will not always be the same
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
Yes such a good point, they do perform so differently on everyone dependent of so many factors. Better to not get too hung up about it, it’s all so subjective and takes away from the enjoyment of the fragrance. Appreciate you sis ❤️❤️❤️🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

It depends on which batch you own. I have 4 different batches, 2 are EDT from when it first came out and that last quite a long time. The other 2 are EDP, one from 2016 and one from 2023. I can safely say that the one from 2023 is no where near the performer as the one from 2016, let alone the EDT's
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
That’s very interesting, I’ve heard that the EDT’s were next level sadly I never got to try them. I need to revisit the most recent formulations, I’m intrigued to know how it performs…. I’ll investigate…. 🔍📝

Longevity for cromondel is very bad , u can smell ot first 30 min if u have a dog nose one hour after its gone

Oh dear, I’m sorry to hear it, yes I can smell it for at least 7 hours, I’ll revisit in the coming weeks, did you buy it directly from Chanel? 🤔

People that exercise patience and common sense tend to get the most out of a scent. The rest seem a gloomy superficial bunch
@I_am_gids Жыл бұрын
Great points, I definitely agree. I think managing your expectations is also very important. I suppose the question then becomes because a scent doesn’t last does it mean it’s necessarily bad? Surely so many wonderful colognes would be deemed redundant if that was the case. Food for thought 💭 thank you for commenting! 😊
