It’s not the country of manufacture that bothers me, I have a few Far East guitars, myself. It’s the need to have the Gibson name on the headstock. Call it what it is, after all, you Chibson owners say you can have them spec’d anyway you want, put TedPedraza on it, I’d have Chibson on mine, anything but Gibson, because it’s anything but a Gibson.

@@tedpedraza8234 That’s good for you Ted. I got no problem with my little Epiphone, plus a really hated 2015 Special, neither costing that much, about as much as a tricked out Chibson infant. Both great guitars & no defrauding involved. Don’t know where you’d get a 1959 Gibson Les Paul for $10k, unless you time travel back to the 20th century, or a house for that matter… But think of how many times you could have TedPedrazza put on a Chibson if you’d of had the good sense to invest $10k into what a 1959 goes for. Personally, I’m cool with the small tally of Gibson Custom & Fender Custom Shop guitars I’ve managed to work & pay for over the years, and buy a house, raise a family, put back into an honest economy whilst working in the music industry. So I’ll chose to play those hard earned and we’ll deserved guitars, with the three additional Far East guitars I could afford back in the early days of my life, all of them with their own names on the headstock (I don’t think I’m that hot, I have to have my name on a guitar for votes or laughs). You see Ted, it’s cool to party, but if you keep it down to a night or so now & then of juice & toot, you wont be frightened off by guitars that are worth having for life, because you’ll have something left of your money & good sense. Bought the exact same one you got in the video amazing guitar for the money. Apart from the usual finish blemishes and a slight crack in the finish everything else was perfect frets,hardware etc all that was needed was a minor set-up and it plays great. Enjoy it man,, I got a real gibson custom, shes now 24 years old and but has mostly stayed in the case because I was always afraid of breaking the headstock etc.. Second chibber i got last week from ebay honestly plays 99% as good, needs tuners and pickups but it still sounds good and stays in tune.. ( just dont like the inconsistent turns on the tuners).. It looks tits too, burst finish i always wanted! And at $300 ill treat her like a strat :)

First let me say I love your intro, Cold Gin, that band has inspired more people to pick up a guitar than any other, but that's another story. I've been wanting a Gibson Les Paul Custom in alpine white forever, at least over 30 years. But every time I get serious I walk away. I just can't justify the price, now by the time you add tax they're over 6 K! Certainly not in my budget. So I bought a Chibson LP custom in alpine white. It played great right out of the box! I liked it so much I bought another in Cherry Sunburst, and then another in black just like the one you have in this video. All three came from my home state of NJ so it arrived in one day transit time from Fedex. The fit and finish on all 3 is just fabulous! The neck relief and string height was well within specs. Yeah the pick ups and tuners are not the greatest, but for me, my stage days are over, and playing in my music room they are just fine the way they are. At high gain you get some ring from the pick ups but I'm also too close to my amp as well so that may be part of the problem. I never purchased from Ali Express but you got me thinking. I purchased all mine on ebay, so far no disappointments. But like you said, email the seller before you buy. If they don't respond before the sale then forget about any response after they got your money. These Chibsons can get addicting! I've also purchased 2 SG's and a Flying V all in Cream White. I love that color! Only one SG was unplayable out of the box. Truss rod was way too tight. In about an hour I had it set up and playing great. Anyway, I love your honest videos on these guitars and please keep them coming. I plan to watch them all. So, do I still want a Gibson Les Paul Custom in Alpine White? ABSOLUTELY!! Maybe someday. But , for now I'm happy buying all my dream Gibsons at an affordable price. Let the sickness continue....

I had an '86 Custom brown burst waiting for me under the Christmas tree one year when I was a teenager, it was the best guitar I ever had I believe. The music store owner said to me and my Dad before he bought it, "Why do you want a Preacher's guitar?" still remember that and laugh sometimes :) It still had the PAF stickers on the mounting rings and only had minor buckle rash. These Chibby's look cool but I'd feel like I was a bit of a traitor for buying one in a way. Great review and nice looking axe.

Chibson has gotten so good in the last couple of years that they should use their moniker Chibson on their products. I was so impressed in the professionalism of their recent builds, that I had my favourite builder, create a replica of a 2007 Les Paul Supreme. I own no less than 6 Chibsons, and all are comparable to north american guitar builders. The exceptions are the nut, and electronics, that use cheaper products. But remember the price difference from a real Gibson.

I got a blue burst custom for my daughters first guitar, but I was surprised by it. With some work like some fret polishing and a new nut and some plastics swap it would be hard for most Gibson fans to know the difference. The pickups aren’t great but definitely good enough. I see these as a great way to tinker into something pretty cool and not spend a lot. Now I’m looking at a black custom chibson with p90s. Because I need to put an alnico staple neck pickup into the right guitar 😊 I have every other real les paul pickup combination p90s, humbuckers, three humbuckers. But I’m not about to spend 6k on a 54 reissue black beauty!

Loving this channel. I will admit I was a total Gibson/Fender snob until the prices started to get way out of control. You're showing that you can pay $250-350 for a Chibson or that excellent EVH Frankey you bought, and hot rod it to your hearts content. Fabulous,that's what I want to see, I've been wanting for one of these for a long time,maybe 6 months since I got my first chibby, and I kick myself for not getting this one first, but you know how you don't want to spend a lot,when testing the waters for the first time,I didn't expect to even get the cherry burst standard LP that I did get,but it's no where near as nice as this black beauty of yours,I'm going to check with the seller I went with the first time, see if he can get me one, heck mine was $220 so you really got a good deal on that one,can't wait to hear it,couldn't ask for a better review,just at the right time,I was really to order one anyway,now I know I want one,I'm thinking of rigging a brass nut up for under the truss rod cover, ,just fake enough to slide in the hex and stay there,use a little piece of a bolt for the brass nut to screw onto and maybe file the back of it hex shape to slide into the existing hex nut on truss,going to be fun, faking some friends out right, as always thanks for the video, nice to find like minded affectionados,of budget guitars,especially chibsons.

Actually one one of my two Chibsons I swapped out the mini pots for CTS etc I ended up putting the old mini pots nack in as it had a better taper compared to the CTS that was more like a switch. I used A and B pots in all the configurations but no the cheapo minis work perfect !

This video convinced me to try to buy one - again. The first one didn't make it through customs., and ended up getting my money back. But I did my research, and even paid for extra fast shipping - 3 weeks - as I was told that increases the chance of making it through customs. I ordered one just like you are showing in this video, but with chrome hardware. If it's as beautiful as the one you got, I will let you know.

The only thing that most of the manufacturers didn't understood yet is the distance from the logo to the D and G string tuner poles. There is a huge gap. If you look into the real thing, this is not the way. In fact all the 6 tuners should be at least 1cm higher.

They actually do it on purpose. So they do not meet the term "Exact" that is required to be considered a counterfeit. This is why if you really look everything is just a bit off. Taken as a whole its like 80% different. You can find one that's close in one area, but of in another's. Its not because they don't know, Its because they need to change it import them. This one is pushing farther than most, however next to a authentic Gibson the many many differences are obvious. Thanks for watching brother.

I think that they just use the same headstock model for classic and custom models, since the normal gibsons like Slash or a 60/59 etc, they have bigger headstocks with that exact proportions, but the custom has the gibson logo starting closer to the D tuner and the whole headstock is a bit smaller. These variants also are common even in the original production, I think that in 1955 the logo was completely off centered, it started lower like the customs ones but with the headstock of a classic gibson so you basically had a lot of blank space at the top.

@@k2stl that problem is caused by the string coming with an angle from the nut to the tuners, they're not aligned like other headstocks such as PRS ones. Also the tuners are not staggered in height and the curve of the Gibson's headstocks is 17° if I remember correctly and it weakens not only the structure (in fact they brake quite easily on the scarf joint) but also improve tuning instability

Hey thats cool i got a chipson and the bridges most of them and harley bentons im having to move the bridges forward so you can set the intonations right. We’ve had to do two of them so far. In dealing with that with one right now. That the saddles are almost against the side of the bridge. And thats after putting a bone nut and leveling the frets. Its still to that point now.

The only thing that worries me with these, is you don't know how the wood was stored and prepped for moisture before starting the build. I would be interested to see how well they all intonate too. They have come a long way though, I'll give em that!

I picked up an ES-335 and 'sadly' the fit and finish is better than the Gibson's hanging at the authorized dealer. Now I have it and it actually plays well and sounds pretty good. The only downfall is that I can never sell it. If doing this again, I'll request the Gibson label to not be added. I agree with your assessment: some of these are pretty good! Note: when I had my Chibson set up the tech did an amazing job but claimed the intonation is not perfect because of the length from the nut to the bridge. I haven't noticed any issues with the intonation - it sounds perfect all the way up the neck.

Don't know much about Chibsons, but I've read a few places that if you get one with nibs on the frets, you have a good one. It's a lot more work to build the guitar like that, so it's likely more work went into the build and you have a higher quality instrument. Who knows?

I’m still kinda on the fence about using the Gibson logo. But instead of dropping several thousand on a authentic anything only to find out you don’t like it, maybe buy one of these. I did that with the Acoustasonic clone by IYV just to see if I liked it. Turns out I did and picked up a Fender Acoustasonic mim used at a good price. I might try one of these in the near future but doubt I’d buy a Gibson LP just because of the insane price. I did play my friend black beauty, but wasn’t overly impressed to save up and buy one, but to drop $300 on a good clone, yeah I could see that.

I got one last month (WILL COME UP ON MY CHANNEL LATER) with the same markings on the pickguard. It's a tiger maple top in a dark honey color. The fret ends are enclosed in the binding like that one. My first like that. Made it tricky, as it still needed frets leveled. Pups were ok, but I had planned to mod it before it arrived. 5 weeks. Took it 2 weeks to get out of China, which is what I normally see. That's a beauty. I avoid black as best I can cuz of the finger and arm marks. Constant battle to keep clean like black cars.

Very well produced video. I always wondered, if these guitars were labeled Epiphone instead of Gibson, would they be more legitimate to buyers. I bought a Epiphone Classic Custom Pro from Amazon that seems like it may have been an indirect purchase from Ali.

Man, I wish there were a way to get this guitar. Back in 1981/82? My father bought a black Kent LP copy off his friend who was a studio musician, for me for xmas (I cant remember the exact year but it was before 1985. Other than the huge binding and gold plated hardware, this guitar looks almost identical to my Kent. I loved that guitar.. it meant the world to me. Sadly it was stolen from the back of a friend's pickup truck after a show one night as we were packing up. I've never been able to find another or anything close to it. 😞

I have heard of them coming with fret nibs but this is the first one I have seen, I can see them starting to punch the serial number on the back of the headstock instead of CNC cut serial numbers. I wouldn't mind one with a genuine Evertune fitted at manufacture, I would probably have to ship them the part though and getting a well routed and fitted one would be a coin toss. What do you think the purpose of the fake shipping number was?

Happened to me before. I think they want you to believe they shipped immidiately so they can manufacture the guitar and send it out without you canceling the order. I'm dealing with Aliexpress sellers for almost 5 years now and this has happened multiple times to me. It also happened once, when I already bought the guitar but was still in talks with the seller how I wanted it costumized.

@@FultonStreetBeats I have a 335 chibson and it gets way more play time due to it staying in tune more, also a set of Seymour Duncan antiquities combined with that center blocked hollow body sound. I just found a custom chibson for my son the other day in blue and I have to say I'm very jealous and want my own. I did some years ago score a 96' custom all decked out from creamtone parts but I gotta say I hated how it dealt in my hand so I sold it off.
