We are covering A LOT of interior design and renovation in today's full home makeover episode. We're completely gutting and rebuilding our house and there is so many important steps and potential pitfalls (which we've unfortunately experienced). We have a VERY serious guest today. It's inspection day and that means we have to put all of our hard work and DIY to the test and see if we pass or fail. We are also jumping into making those giant beams beautiful in our living room and we head to our favorite salvage yard to do a little decor treasure hunting. It's an episode full of DIY, thrifting and big stakes! Plus we wrap it all up with an updated house tour with our beautiful new walls and ceiling. It's really an inspiring and beautiful before and and after for this stage of the project!

I love the salvage tile but remember to be very careful about where you use certain tiles! Not all tile is waterproof and the same goes for grout. There’s also ceramic vs porcelain tile and that makes a big difference when it comes to where you are putting it!

In the original OMG we bought a house they encountered that problem and Kate ended up waterproofing the tiles so they could use them in wet areas

Everything is looking spectacular, as always. One idea you may want to consider, before you get too far along, is to put speakers in the ceilings of each room with a volume control (on the wall), so that you can pipe music throughout the house. We have done that with our last 2 builds & absolutely love it. If you go in your studio & need quite, just turn the volume control all the way down. We even have the ability to listen to it outside 💜🦋

I had to laugh, when we were choosing the stain for our hardwood floors we went with Jacobean... and I pronounced it like Kate but my fiancé he pronounced it just like Joey, omg! LOL

Good question! No you can paint flat with rollers. You just have to use a roller made for smooth finish.

paint the beams so they are all one color, THEN stain them and use a wood grain tool while their wet..

I remember hearing frills and drills talk about orange peel verses level 5 and being stunned. It’s opposite in the Midwest and where we live now in North Carolina. A level 5 is standard! If you want orange peel you will actually pay more 😳
