The intro is indeed Welsh. It roughly translates to: Sickness is my teacher It broke my smile My bones feel old Here lies Ren's body
@sharis9095 Жыл бұрын
Ren said that when his illness was ongoing without diagnosis he looked into everything. Traditional medicine, alternative, holistic, religion, voodoo, satanism, he looked into it all. I think now he considers himself agnostic but he really likes the stories from religion and you can tell he's well read. I like that instead of dumbing it down he puts stuff in his lyrics without worrying if you understand... you can look it up. Thanks for your reaction.. you hear things I miss.
@WitsEndGirl Жыл бұрын
He did say that. Interesting for me is his school experience, like mine, which was very welsh church. What it left me with was religious language as part of my every day speech because that's what I grew up with and that's what gained acceptance in school. It took me years to separate what I believe from what I was told I believe. I think that's what I recognise in Ren's lyrics.

Whenever I watch too many Ren reaction videos and my enthusiasm for his music begins too tire, I stumble across an analysis like yours and I am reinvigorated. Ren is so brilliant and there is such depth to his lyrics that your knowledge was really appreciated, especially about some of the religious references. I had no idea the seraphim had red wings! Ren is agnostic as he said multiple times now. So this is basically where he is coming from with this. Very well versed on the topic but not a believer himself and at the same time not disregarding everything of it. He also mentioned that his parents are agnostic as well.

Great reaction. Ren was undiagnosed/misdiagnosed for about 8 years. The meds he was prescribed during the misdiagnosis (which they told him he was depressed and the pain was all in his head as well as chronic fatigue syndrome) were psychotropics that bent his mind, inflammation from the undiagnosed true illness called Lyme disease, the stress of the pain and stress of the medical gaslighting (because he knew he wasn't depressed but he kept being told he was) caused a psychotic break. The fact that he can look back on this time in his life with such openness and honesty blows my mind away 🤯

Intellectually, this is Ren's finest work Emotionally, it connects through his dynamic presentation even though the facts may escape many. Ren has lost a lot of the sheathing that protects our neural pathways. The pain and agony he goes through is really undescribable unless you have suffered it. I am a believer in creationism not religion, and I think Ren is more than open to that as well. His heart is wide open to the beauty of creation in all forms be it the maker of all things or of man. Science failed him as it often does because it is the product of the human ego. The suffering of man has been inflicted by man on man, not God.
@reqorium8664Ай бұрын

I really think the shift to the subs reverses the violins from the beginning. Clapton, Hendrix, Kendrick. He references his sources, but listen to what these references say when put together as a statement in this context. The statement has its own meaning that then also interplays with the original songs and their message.

Ren is a PHILOSOPHER … from the Greek philo (love) and sophia (wisdom) and so is literally defined as “the love of wisdom”. More broadly understood, it is the study of the most basic and profound matters of human existence. Philosophical schools frequently develop in response to some perceived failure of religion to provide answers to fundamental questions.
