Pho is actually French, the Vietnamese learned some French cooking and learned "pot au feu" and slightly changed the recipe. The name Pho sounds very similar to "Feu"

Great job Uncle Roger! Love your videos! I've seen people freeze the beef chunk a bit before slicing so it's not squirming like jello when being cut. Do you approve of that? You can slice it beforehand anyway and let it rest till room temperature as the hot soup will cook it anyway after you assemble. This is my favorite dish and I absolutely eat it at least once a week to make me go into my happy zone.

This Aussie (nice floor-ceiling!) loves Pho! I quickly developed an appreciation for it (especially Pho Ga) during my travels through Vietnam over a decade ago and was amazed that a staple food would be so darn complicated and time consuming to make. Thankfully we have a lovely Vietnamese community here in my local area and several restaurants that make properly authentic Pho… so don’t have to ;-)
