I just finished making and consuming a batch of these. Absolutely the best recipe I’ve ever found for homemade crumpets. Thank you so much Mr. Paul. I’ve tried others from the internet, from other “famous” bakers from the UK, but these turned out on my first try and without a lot of pfaffing about.

Thank you very much Mr. Paul. Your recipe is perfect. Since I lived in London, many years ago I didn’t have crumpets. I made them six times already. From Spain thank you, thank you.(Excuse my English)

Just now I did it! I followed your recipe and got real crumpets. The recipe I had before was too dry or something and I got more like thick pancakes or pikelets. I did the stand mixer method and my stand mixer died when 2 minutes were left. So I whisked it by hand the rest, added the yeast-water and baking powder, let it proof 20 min and cooked them. Your explanations were all very helpful. Thank you. We lived in Scotland for 6 years and have been back in the US for 9 months. I always wanted to make crumpets, now I know how.

Hello Mr. Paul, When grocery shopping last Tuesday, I was looking at the packages of crumpets. Six of the most pathetic, limp things you’ve ever seen. Time to make your crumpet recipe, and I made 16 today! They are so good! I like to eat mine with butter and Golden Syrup. That’s the way my Grandmother liked them. My next project will be making your golden syrup recipe! Do take care! ❤️🙏🏻😊

They look beautiful! They’d be delicious with good European butter and homemade blackberry jam. I no longer see a reason to buy the commercially produced crumpets we have here in the U.S. You made it look so easy, Mr. Paul - AGAIN! Thank you. 🥰
@MrPaulsPantry4 жыл бұрын
I totally agree Max. Not sure what you mean by European butter because almost all Butter with just the odd exception is what we in the bakery trade call Fermented Butter which means it has a Lactobacillus added similar to that in Yogurt. What we call natural butter I think if I'm not mistaken in the US it's called Sweet Butter which is ONLY fresh cream with a little salt. If you can purchase NON-Pasteurised cream you can make your own delicious butter. I have that on my Video to-do-list
@ib9rt Жыл бұрын
@@MrPaulsPantry Nearly all butter on the grocery shelves in the USA is "sweet cream butter". It is very difficult in the USA to find cultured butter, with Kerrygold being one of the most available options.

Great Video Mr. Paul, I'm a retired Aussie living in Thailand and love to cook. I have made many hundreds of Crumpets but your recipe is the easiest I have seen and the results were perfect in my opinion. I will give your recipe and method a try in the next few days. I was looking for an English Muffin recipe to make Eggs Benedict with my home made Cold Smoked Atlantic Salmon when I came across your Crumpet Video. I bought 4 English Muffins 2 days ago at a local Supermarket that caters for Expats I almost had Kittens when I checked the price the cost was 5.73 GBP I could buy almost 6 kg of Bread Flour for the same price. I'm going to see if you have an English Muffin recipe on your web page.

Yes I made these this morning and they are the first recipe of Mr. Paul I have attempted! I have made crumpets some many years ago and to tell you the truth I wasn't that impressed - they lacked flavour and bubbles. For the life of me I don't remember whose recipe I used. I therefore considered that I wouldn't bother making these again after all Warburtons here in the (UK) make perfectly edible crumpets to buy. this recipe was easy to follow and would you believe it the recipe stated you would get 6 crumpets out of the mixture and, I got 6 crumpets - spot on. There was no denying it they looked every bit as good as Warburtons but the flavour, texture and lightness was like something else! These were the most fantastic scrumptious crumpets I have ever eaten! I cannot thank you enough Mr. Paul for something so delicious I didn't think was possible! Mr. P's English Custard Tart tomorrow - my wife insists! I might leave her a very, very small piece!

Still making my weekly batch of your English crumpets but although they have tasted great I have had the issue of the crumpets sticking to the rings. With this batch I proved the mix on our defrost setting which is 30c for 30 minutes . The crumpets fell out of the rings and seem so much lighter and tasted delicious. My next baking step will be your Bakewell Slice recipe. Thank you once again. Ps. I brought a digital thermometer and it’s proved invaluable for getting my water and hob settings correct. 😊

I love double toasting crumpets so they have a crisp mouth feel then have the knife preloaded with butter to apply as soon at they hit the plate, cover one and while you butter the second one start eating the first....delicious! Looking forward to using yeast for the first time ever to have a go at these. Those look easy enough. I have a recipe that takes longer to rise and I have to make it into individual muffins and then let them rise again. Then cook them 10 min. on a side at 190 ° on my griddle. It feels like an all day affair but they are very good. This is more like a batter and is much quicker. I will definitely be trying this recipe. Thank you so much!! I had bought some from an Amish store and they were 3 inches thick. But the flavor was not like a crumpet more like bread so they were disappointing.

Yes give it a good stir before putting in the rings. TRy cooking one first and if the bubbles don't appear correctly you can try thinning the batter a little, but it should not need it.

@MrPaulsPantry3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, as I explained in the video it's important to cook them slowly, otherwise the bottom will burn before the inside is cooked. They will always be a little doughy on the inside after cooking, then you should toast them on both sides before buttering and eating them. Cook until all the bubbles have birst and the surface looks DULL not wet an shiny. I've had many people who have tried this recipe for the first time and had success.
