Brill vids taint all about artistry and production! Just good to see how and where other older nutters get to. Lugging a pack of sausages and rolls, a choccy tinned pud and a tin of custard was our first wild meal! It will get easier. Look forward to more. Keep on keeping on.

Yeah I hope so, it's hard going with a full ruck sack, you dont realise how much it makes a difference... A tin of custard, lol... You did good mate. Lessons learnt, the more weight you carry the more you'll enjoy your camping, the less weight the more you'll enjoy your walking. Take what you need not what you think you need. It's all you need to do at our age to still enjoy the hills.

What a stunning place to make camp ! that was a hell of a trip mate. I did Snowdon up and down, took me 7 hours in the pissing rain and I was absolutely hanging after, so I feel for you. This is absolutely epic in the true sense of the word, I know you will remember this adventure for the rest of your life, I cannot get over how bloody good the microphone is in that direct wind! Bet that hot chocolate was bloody nice! Bet the decent was a killer down to the tarn! Looked super cosy in the tent, the video is brilliant! Can’t think of anything better than a assuage butty in the tent! I totally agree that it is amazing! Super proud of you doing this mate! It would have been an epic adventure without the video but the fact you caught it all and documented it! The time lapse was epic! Hahah! Well done for taking away your s**** too 😂😂😂 the morning sun was so lovely! That did look like quite the scramble! Don’t ever worry about the parts you didn’t film! The hard bits always make the memories better! Bet that was the best tasting breakfast you’ve ever had! I’ve Ben to New Dungeon Ghyll! You captured an awesome adventure! No need for placing the tripod shots and walking back! My only regret is that you didn’t take the drone! Do more please! Oh and let me know when you’re up this way next time!

That's an epic comment mate, worth doing just for that... I'm up with the wife in September and again October/November.. Trying for a wild camp on both... I am so unfit mate and it's a bloody struggle to get fit as I work such long hours, but either way I have been bitten by the bug... I need to improve on map reading too, lol.. I have to say I felt really alive, but my inexperience made me rush it as I was worried about the time it was taking me and didn't want to not make the tarn for nightfall... We should meet up, I'll buy you a beer mate and a sausage bap too.. ;)

Great pair of videos of your first wild camp. I too am 60 and planning my first wild camp. Going to go to Dartmoor for a week to visit a number of different wild camping locations. My target is no more than 15kg pack weight. Will be using Osprey Aetha 70 AG pack and Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 tent. ATB Paul.
@MrQuintonia5 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, Thanks for the watch, and that's fantastic to do Dartmoor, and its the only 100% legal place you can wild camp in England... Yes, The Cloud peak II is what I have, great tent, very useful having the two porch's and easy to put up and loads of room and I also have the Osprey Aetha 70, how weird, we both must have done the same research and came to the same conclusion... The bag is great and I love the center opening, never had a sweaty back and I normally do... I will be interested in seeing your video, hope you're doing one, so I'll pop over and sub... Thanks Peter, I'm not sure if it would have been the same with someone else, I watched a lot of solo wild campers and I thought that they all seemed to get more out of it, I know I did... Yes I had a few tricky moments that I thought if I did slip I would be in trouble, but it adds to making it an adventure, I'm not a risk taker normally, but sometimes doing things out of your normal life does help you when you go back to it... Hmmm... 🤔 Anyway, lol, I shall endeavor to improve my filming to show more of where I was... Thanks again Mate appreciate your comment as always...

Well you certainly know how to go for it I will give you that👍 I think you did ok with the filming, it’s not easy with the terrain, weather and physical side of the walks. I am pretty sure you will get that bag weight to a more comfortable weight over time , the first one I did with Keith we took so much stuff we didn’t need and if I remember rightly Kieth even took a cheese board! Great video and it must have been very personality rewarding and that’s what it’s all about, you did it! Keep it up and we will look forward to the next one. Regards James and Kir

Thank you, Yes I didn't really have many options to do it solo, to be honest, no one I know is as mad as me, lol... I really think that your video has helped me before my first wild camp in a fortnight. Pack weight importance and not taking on too much distance and climbs for my first camp. I've been watching plenty of you tube videos to learn and prepare but you've shown me what too heavy a pack can do. Not your intention when you set off I'm sure but useful all the same. You did great to persevere. I'm hoping the end of October weather is kind to me for my first camp . Probably end up a wash out 🤣 thanks for the vid
@MrQuintonia2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to be late coming back... Yes it was a learning curve for me, and I have now bought new kit and reduced my pack weight to 12 kg from over 16kg, still heavy but for the end of October which I had hoped to have done or mid-March, you need kit that can withstand the elements, wind, rain and low temperatures... Unfortunately, I have had some issues health-wise which means I have done nothing since, but I live in hope... Good luck and all the best in your adventure...

NOW THAT's BETTER - I felt that you had taken me along with you - I could see the route - yes a little light on the old video footage, but what you did get was top notch....
