Super well done Mr Q - I absolutely enjoyed your company there. Your honesty and your appraisal of the ascent was refreshing. I could see you were clearly stoaked although you said you were nervous when you began. This means one thing - you relaxed and it showed. All the very best. Mark

WOW that was very optimistic, especially with a camping pack on your back and sods law with the walking pole, killer that mind. I always go up to Stickle Tarn from Grasmere and walking up the Easdale Road is a nice introduction before it gets steep. You could tell it was rea windy but the sound quality was still good and the picture quality was very good. Interesting to see if you make Sergeant Man and High Raise before camping at Stickle Tarn. Cheers Alan

Cheers mate, I was pretty much thinking of turning back, but once you get so far you tend to have to keep going... Losing the trails from time to time and doubling back didn't help me, but inexperienced was always going to make it harder... Unfortunately, as it really pushed me I'm afraid that filming took a very backseat and in many cases, I forgot to or couldn't be arsed to film important goals, or I just was not sure of myself so left it... The picture and sound quality is great by the way👍 really looking forward to part 2. Regards James and Kir
@MrQuintonia5 жыл бұрын
Thanks James, I surprised myself to be honest, but it was a hard slog... Missed the bloody trig points but saw them, but was getting worried that I would not make it to Stickle before dark... It's quite scary up them fells on your own when you don't know what your doing... Yes shoulders not happy, it was nearer 16kg to be honest... But what an experience and already trying to sort out another two... ;)
@MybitofHistory5 жыл бұрын
Well I enjoyed that Chris - loved the scenic views, but i got the impression you were in a race to get somewhere, instead of out to enjoy the WHOLE experience. Also, I know why you want to get some footage of your wild-camp out as soon as possible - but I've no graphics to tell me where you are or a narrative to the story explaining your journey from concept to your current position and ultimate goals / expectations. Hmmmmmm.... I'm sounding too critical, but I would hate for you to pass a great experience to tell and portray a personal challenge & story which you and we can gleen enjoyment for a few years to come ;)
@MrQuintonia5 жыл бұрын
It's quite raw this video I know, the problem Mike is I didn't know what I was really letting myself into as this particular plan of trying to hit these peaks sort of came to me as the weather turned out so good. I wasn't rushing as it was more having to make up for lost time as it took me so long to climb up some of the really steep parts and with the weight of nearly 16KG on my back, a mistake I won't make again I found it harder going than I imagined... Then I got slightly lost and spent some time retracing to get back on track as simply cutting across areas proved impossible as the land was just to craggy in places to get over... Phew, thinking now I should have gone for an easier hike and wild camp area for my first go, filming was not turning out to be the pleasure it normally is for me but became a pain, and the second part I'd given up pretty much so this is the best part as will be seen... I am returning in September with the wife and I will attempt another one then, and hopefully film a better video... I appreciate your comments and agree with you, but I am really an old townie and a southern soft one as well who needs to get fitter too... Are you still in the Market for a drone? I hope so, you would blow everyone away I know, with all the videos I watch on YT, your old ones have an atmosphere that you can almost touch! Cheers, Mike...

@@MrQuintonia - Were there any prospect of my health taking a dramatic reversal in fortune, I would go for a drone - However, even I have to face up to reality - my days of getting out filming on my moors are now over - it's now a challenge to walk 50 yards on flat ground.
