What do we think about this butter situation?

I have a butter bomb which is unscented for those who are super sensitive to fragrances and colours. But I put in 150g of butters (shea and cocoa) into 2kg batch. I add ps80, I do add Kaolin Clay too. I use my 70% RA (Which ofcourse has 30% water in) to use as a binder that adds a crust. And for me in my humidity it doesn't dent. It's nice and moisturising in the bath but not greasy and doesn't do the oil slick down the bath. 💛

I like the idea of adding more oils/butters, thinking that the bomb would stick together better, also for the winter dry skin problems, might be a plus/ BUT- perhaps not as much and with the additives of starches, clays, powdered milks, poly 80… etc to tone down the oil slick? I think it’s worth looking into for sure! I have high humidity here most of the year, and then it’s frozen- so dry for winter, so making bath bombs are a test for me! Love your ideas and look forward to more thoughts on these!

I don’t know how I feel about it. I think I like it because I’m obsessed with shea butter, body butters, any butter really. But wow, emulsifier to the rescue for sure.

I have to say... Yes its oily and I would prefer an emulsifier, but taking a bath with her bath bomb left my skin feeling really really good. Remember, we're in NM, land of the dry ass skin, and it's hard to stay moisturized. 10/10 will get another one

I LOVE a nice amount of butters in my bombs and I also add a cocoa butter drizzle to the top...but I always use poly 80 to avoid the oil slick :)

I often wondered about having too much butters/oils in a bath bomb, especially when you have a sceptic tank. Oils grease and fats aren't good for them and a recipe like this one would be a hard no for me.

Colorado Girl here. I am really intrigued by a “buttery” bomb because it’s just soooo dry here. On the other hand, I don’t like the idea of taking a relaxing bath and then having to clean out my tub afterward. I’m curious how this would perform with some PS80. Would adding a bit of surfactant, like SLSA help? Keep exploring this idea! I’m dying to find out where you land on the perfect, buttery, bath bomb. Can it even be a thing?

I'm so torn. I see the benefits and bet it feels amazing especially with winter coming. But the oil slick...safety is absolutely a priority. I can't wait to see the next video and what you will do.

I’ve been painting the ceiling all morning and am looking forward to sinking into a bath tonight to test this on the skin, because all that butter is gonna be amazing after I manage to get all this paint off. That said, I fully plan on sliding around and am prepared. 😂

My mother would love this because she’s always had dry skin, but she’s also slipped in the tub before and broke teeth, sliced her chin open (I could see her jaw bone), and that happened on Thanksgiving (after festivities) about 22-23 years ago. She still has teeth and jaw issues. Me… I’ve got pretty oily skin for the most part. Although, it’s getting drier as years go on. It would not be for me. I like using rose-hip or jojoba as my oil in my bbs. But I don’t use a ton. I do my own plumbing. All I’m gonna say about that. 😂

My first formulation did not require water but it did require SLSA in powder form. *I* added caprylyl glycoside instead so that gave my bombs the “water wetness” I’ve heard you discuss in other videos. It got rock hard and kerplunked when I dropped it into the tub but it also floated. After watching this video I’m conflicted about which method is best for me.

Honestly, bath bomb formulations are highly individual, so if you’ve found a method that works for you, stick with it!

Having broken a kneecap on an oil and water mixture situation (not from this type of thing) I’m gonna hard pass. That looks like a plumbers wet dream situation if you do that often enough and a lawsuit for a maker when someone slips, falls, and cracks their head open or lands face first in the toilet and breaks a tooth 🤣🤣

Ok so what exactly would an emulsifier do in this instance?
@MrsSoapAndClay
@MrsSoapAndClay Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it would just bind it to the water better and make it less gross on the side of the tub.

I always assumed that bath bombs were made with oils and butters. I've always made mine this way! I am even working to make some that are nut butter free for nut allergy folks.

Oils and butters certainly are included in bomb recipes, but this amount has me big shooketh.

Whoa! I missed the half cup part. That would not be good for the slippy slip portion of the show. 😮 That's what happens when the fur kids start demanding my attention, I guess. 😆

Hmm I wonder if it's the butters that helped with the molding.
