Actually, the idea of jerk Spider-Man in a universe where uncle Ben still lives makes a surprising amount of sense. Peter being a genius isn‘t the result of Ben dying. Neither is him getting bitten by a radioactive spider. It‘s only his sense of responsibility that is linked to Uncle Ben‘s death. So, that works fairly well.
@jessecortez94492 жыл бұрын
It really does. You can see the potential for Peter being a prick when he refuses to stop the robber that ends up killing him. That prick attitude combined with his genius intellect would result in a Spidey Stark.
@rakelodakel2 жыл бұрын
@@jessecortez9449 yeah, I kinda love that version of Spider-Man for this exact reason, he really brings home that central message of great power and responsibility by never learning the responsibility part. I love the contrast of the two alternate realities Spidey visits. In one, Peter Parker has the worst possible luck, goes insane with grief and becomes the murderous Spider-Carnage and in the second he has the best possible luck and becomes an arrogant stuck-up jerk who automatically assumes he will win. Our Spider-Man's reality lies somewhere in between those two extremes, just like our lives. No spoilers for No Way Home but how much of a mind **** would it be if the final villain of the movie was a twisted murderous alternate universe Spider-Man.
@DSan-kl2yc2 жыл бұрын

The 90s cartoons were funny because they would fit in every single possible character from the comics except for one huge exception. The Spider-Man cartoon's was Sandman, but the X-Men creators refused to use Kitty Pryde because they already had Jubilee. So X-men somehow has multiple Mojo and Fabian Cortez appearances but zero Shadowcat!
@einootspork2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperpanFilms X-Men didn't use Kitty Pryde because she was in a poorly received pilot for an X-Men series called "Pryde of the X-Men". They didn't wanna have anything to do with it after that so they left her out. Jubilee was a replacement for her if anything.
@SuperpanFilms2 жыл бұрын
@@einootspork That could have been a part of it but I'm sure the main thrust for picking Jubilee was that she was the current kid sidekick in the comics in 1992 as Kitty had moved on to Excalibur and wasn't emphasized as being an X-Men character. You're right that Jubilee was her replacement though as she got all her storylines so they probably didn't feel they needed her. I'd hope she wasn't blackballed because of PoXM as every other character in that pilot got used. Me and my 9 year old daughter knocked out this entire series in a few weeks before moving onto X men. Loved it 😍

Followed by Batman the Animated Series??? (If you're gonna watch these two classics, then you *must* finish the trifecta of epic animated series!)

Have to do that with my son! I wonder about the order because of the crossovers.

Spider-Man Unlimited was real good. I hope they make the lost season 6 though, that would rock!

Since this and Spectacular never got their last season. I really doubt Unlimited would

Just saw another animated movie that used the "other dimensional loved one talks down the villain" ending the other day and it reminded me of this episode.

I always enjoy when a comic book story arc shows up on Caravan of Garbage. Erik Larsen’s Revenge of the Sinister Six story in Spider-Man #18-#23 is something I would luv to see on here.

You guys neglected to mention how great a job Christopher Daniel Barnes did voicing Peter Parker/Spidey. Terrific voice work throughout all seasons. I think his awesome relatable performance was a key part of why the show was so beloved.

Spider-Carnage pleading for forgiveness and then deciding to disintegrate himself, impacted my childhood. If some how he thought that was his only way to be redeemed then there was still some good left in him.

Would you consider, please, doing an episode on "The Spectacular Spider-Man"? I mean, I'm 35 and I do have very fond memories of this series, but The Spectacular Spider-Man was BY FAR one of the best comic book animations EVAH! I'm talking Batman the Animated Series level here, I'm sure you guys know it. PS: Fuck X-MEN 97, Disney should have brought TSS back since they've been fucking up Spiderman on cartoons ever since.
@Gav_800852 жыл бұрын
Yea bro, Spectacular Spider-man is the tv animated version of Spider-man, for sure. In the other Spider-man cartoon Peter Parker always looks like a 30 year old man. I like high school Peter.

fun fact: spider-man was allowed to punch people but the people working on the show decided he didn't need to be ultra violent or anything to beat the bad guys. this show was not restricted or censored more than any other 90s show at the time and spider-man punches people many times throughout the show

Spider-Man fanboys: “Ugh, Spider-Man is too attached to Iron Man, he’s Iron Boy Jr.” This series: Black Cat admits using Super Soldier serum and Electro is Red Skull’s son.

Who hasn't used the super soldier serum, honestly? But I would like to see them try to figure out Jamie Fox as Red Skull's son.

Recently learned it's a misconception about this show "not being allowed" to have Spider-Man punching. People tend to think this show was overly censored or whatever, but it recieved the same type of censorship as any other cartoon at the time. This comes from the showrunner himself. (In the video it's the guy that talked about season 6 and released the script)
