I'm Mexican, Id just replace my front worn out tier and design my own sole from that and probably remove some Naugahyde from the back of my couch while the wife is not looking. Man the shoes look so good! It makes me want to try I love the way you broke the old clogs down for us. Kudos to you You are always so pleasant to watch, I do a lot of projects on metal wood plastics but very little leather. Nice to have these insights even before touching leather. I cant wait to watch the rest.

When I have my sole material glued in place, I use a belt sander (or an edge sander) for removing the excess. It makes that task so much easier and gives you a nice even finished edge.

Those shoes look really well made,.........will you put your embossed stamp on the midsole and perhaps add a coating?

The original Crepe rubber is meant to be good cleaning powered sanding grit. removes clogged partials.

Nice work Harry! Just a suggestion usually the back height of the upper will be around 2.5 inches or 2 3/4 some where around there. Nice work though the upper work looks nice

Hi Alan I think it would leave a ragged edge, a laminate trimmer did when I tried it on another project...the knife is good for a smooth edge.

OLD LEATHER SMITH here, Hi Harry, when U finish this pair U will B a REAL CORDWAINER, I myself prefer, Bees Wax 2 the wax U R using, please remember UR 91/2 R inside measurements, when I purchased my outsoles I bought size 12s that I cut down, but I did have 2 purchase some size 16s 4 a special client, I didn't have 2 cut them down he had a 14,1/2 foot, my moccasins have 3 soles, insole, outsole, and street sole, everything is sewn except street sole which I glue on so a cobbler can glue on when worn out, sorry 4 looooong winded, GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃

Hi You need some strong thread...like 1mm plus ...I already had some but there should be similar on Ebay.

Man go down to your Hardware Store and by a Thick Rubber Mat, you know the One's used to Cushion Long Standing by Machinery. Here in the USA We have TSC or Tractor Supply Center. They Sell a Rubber Mat that's 1 Thick, 3 Foot Wide. And UP TO 6 FOOT LONG. You then just lay your Shoe down and mark from Toe to Heal and "Wala" Shoe Sole. Maybe this will help you. Thanks for the up load. PS Try Braking a piece of Sheet Glass and use that to Scrape instead of the Iron Rasp. You'll get better Results Mate. You need a Cobbler Shoe Stand bad. This way you could Mount your Shoe on it and then use the Hammer and Pound down for Glue Attachment. Check out Bedo's Leatherworks on KZbin. See how He Works on Shoe's.

I got my last from Spring Line today, a rather quick delivery. The last looks a bit flat after the toe area (instep?) so hurry and let me know how your boots feel on the foot :)

They fit very well...quite long in the toe area, but I think that's because they are more formal style lasts. I have just ordered their military boot lasts!
