My Cousin Bubba Bass in Texas had the famous 409 legacy 4 speed Biscuit as he called it. He took me for a ride once in the muscle car. He had a magnet on the passenger side dash board which is all metal those early years and placed a $20.00 bill under it. He said if you can grab that bill you can keep it! He rev up the mighty 409 and drop the clutch my body went back into the seat as it was a bench seat with no head rest at all and I could not grab the bill. The front end came off the ground a slight amount as I could tell from the passenger seat. Wow! True muscle car on a plain Jane design. The ultimate sleeper.

I remember when these cars came out. In 65' our family had a 62' Olds 98. Before that we had a 55' Rocket 88 Olds. My uncles first car was a brand new 57 Chevy.

I feel SO happy, that I was a young child, when these monsters roamed the streets...gas was around 35 CENTS a Gallon, my uncle stored his '65 Iris Mist GTO in our garage, and we use to cruise around the MIDWAY Airport (Southside Chicago), in another uncle's '68 FIREBIRD Convertible, we me sitting on the top of the back seat. Safe ? Heck no...but, fun ? Ohhh yes. This Biscayne is understated and NASTY

Absolute amazing "sleeper". I know a guy in Mississippi who has two 65 Impalas, both 2 door hardtops, both maroon, both with black bench seat and 4 speed, but one is a 409 and the other a 396.

Witnessed from 1967 on in Erie, Pennsylvania, this 409 model driven on the classic nightly cruise in-town 4-lane 'State Street' from Dobbins Landing, 'the public dock,' straight for 2 miles thru the commercial central up to 26th, 38th, or 41rst streets. 'The California Rake' was added in '67 OR '68, driven with the front end slightly raised, driven only by a classic, tall, lithesome, long black haired 20's something married girl, never with a passenger -- al a 'DREAM GIRL' in 'American Graffiti.'

@MSClassicCars2 жыл бұрын
If it is the same car, and if it did sell around that price, it would have needed a restoration. It was at Mecum back in 2008 and the high bid was $58,000. It did not sell. We did not own it back then, we purchased this car earlier this year.
@55chevyjoes122 жыл бұрын
