MSFS Aerosoft CRJ TUTORIAL | Cold and Dark to Engine Start!

By now you have likely got your hands on the new Aerosoft CRJ 550/700 for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and with a new aircraft comes new systems, buttons and a whole new workflow!
I'll explain and take you through all of the steps I take before departing on a flight using the CRJ 700. We'll begin parked at the Macco Simulations Birmingham Airport (EGBB) and I'll go through planning an entire flight to Hamburg (EDDH).
We'll take a look at the refuelling panel, performance, the EFB and setting the entire route using Airways and Simbrief.
Naturally the aircraft state keeps reverting to almost Ready to Taxi in the EFB for me currently (which is why the switches are on some positions). I'm hoping in a few flights time the EFB will save and remember the setting! So there may be a few differences from this video to your experience but it shouldn't be too many other steps.

I noticed that you mention a few times how you were surprised that some things in the plane were already switched to an AUTO state. The answer is on the EFB. The default state of your plane is "Ready for Taxi" which means some steps have already happened when the plane loads. If you click that button a few times, it will cycle through to the "Cold and Dark" state and you'll have to go through and flip some extra switches like the hydraulics and the DC power switch next to the Battery. You may have already discovered this by now but thought I'd mention it!

@@BritishAvgeek Oh yes, even when i have done as required, have made CRJ profile in the throttle menu, still it does not calibrate, have a funny feeling that before there comes a update with Fs2020, it will causing issues!! Have the full package from Thrustmasters Airbus, work fine on all other planes in FS2020.

Great tutorial, learnt a lot. I couldn't help but notice that even though you set a cold dark state the the engine gauges show that engines look to be running before you started them. I am experiencing the same issue and wondered how you get around this issue?

Hi! It's in the description I think - there was a button in the EFB that I had accidentally clicked making the default state change to "ready to taxi" or something... Change that to Cold and Dark :)

You can indeed, but some like to know how to insert the flight plan properly for added immersion (especially as the crj tends to fly shorter routes so it doesn't take as long)

You need to select cold and dark from the efb, the airplane loads in a config close to ready for taxi.

For some reason the ignition continues button is not turning on for me any idea why. My throttle also isn’t moving with it

Throttle stays locked until N1 is up to the level where you can unlock it and move it to idle to actually start the engines. If still nothing, it's because you haven't followed my Throttle setup tutorial so take a look at that. Have you got anything switched off anywhere? Continuous ignition should come on at the push of the button but you need fuel boost on etc too and Apu on and avail I believe

Just tried to follow you through this walkthrough and for some reason when I try and input Ell on the Flight Computer it tells me NOT FOUND? ..I have tried to input the other waypoints from ELL but they all say NOT FOUND ...Can you check if it's the same on your system ... I am using Navigrapgh with Airac 2110

Did you set your vPilot up properly? If it kicks you off it'll be an error with your setup

if in doubt, press the Ready to Taxi aircraft state button, let everything else start automatically and set itself ready and then add the route etc into the FMS :)

Not sure if you got an answer elsewhere but let my try: If i get your question correctly you are asking that specifically in regards to Multiplayer. And in MSFS you can always see all other Players DLC/COmmunity/whatever planes as long as you yourself have them installed aswell. Example: The H135 Helicopter Free-Fandmade-Addon. If a random person in the lobby is flying this and i have it in my community folder, i can see him flying around in this very helicopter. Same for every other plane (e.g. PMP A330 or this CRJ). If you DONT have it/others dont have it i THINK your Model just gets replaced by a basic Cessna, at least that is what i have seen once. Not sure here tho. Hope this helped and i hope i got your question right.

@@ianashton8082 that's correct - you have to have the model installed for it to display in Vatsim (or even in just MSFS multiplayer)

Hey man I’m crying here…do you have any video tutorial showing how to upload a simbrief flight plan to the crj fmc? I saw one on KZbin but when I try to load it I get a “load error”

How big is the route? A lot of the crj routes are very short so don't really need importing but if not you have to add it to the work folder and type it in to the CDU

But how come I haven’t seen you doing any flights with the CS777? I know maybe the controls are messed up but I gotta be honest she’s a beauty. The triple 7 is actually my favorite aircraft. I’m a Boeing fan!

Hey I have a question…is it me or does the dev and experimental version of the flybywire have a rudder issue? Because I’ve noticed whatever direction I turn to, it turns to the opposite direction first then it locks to the direction I intend to turn too. I may have to switch back to the stable version cause I never had that problem on the stable.

I have also been told that even though the FMS doesn't say the most current version is being used it isn't true. the screen just doesn't update the info yet

I just reinstalled so maybe that fixes it, however I have been having lots of issues. for example I'd say 90% of the internal light knobs only will decrease, and the aircraft refuses to pull up, especially on takeoff, etc. hope this fixes it but if not, any ideas? also when clicking things like "ready to taxi" and other presets, usually after a few seconds, everything turns off.... also reverse thrust wont work... anyway if anyone has any ideas, please lmk

Yea, some of the knobs only decrease when there are like multiple settings, you have to use the scroll whell for those.

there's certainly a LOT more to do with this, it's very hands on compared to the flybywire A32NX but it's still VERY enjoyable!

Usually by spawning on the runway instead of at a gate. Then you will begin with engines running etc.

@@GrandMasterWu777 apologies I've only just seen this! In the EFB there is a button that says Ready to Taxi - if you click that, it will power everything up and get the engines running for you... All you'll need to do is add the flight data into the CDU
