Is there any way to disable Optimus? This is what seems to be holding back this laptop. On laptop forums some people have figured out how but it’s not easy apparently and cannot be done with the MSI Dragon center.

I have this model just with 16Gb of ram and 144hz monitor! It’s solid and the thermals never go over 80 degrees Celsius with under volt I can pretty much run any game I want at ultra settings but I never do because I like to be as close to 144hz as I can depending on the game. Good review!

Im soo looking forward how the performance of 2080 super max p, compared to max q... and see the thermals and wattage at intensive gaming benchmarks.. wish they use the newer designs like g66 raider in a ge 17” models though

@@CETechTips yeah super fast, but just weird how much wattage a max p can generate, my s17 with 2080s max q, giving out 110w consistently while playing and hitting 115 w at times, looks weird isnt it? Supposed to b max q 90 w designed

@@riswanc that’s because it has advanced Optimus. Allows it to reach UPTO 115W. This at 150W is a different beast altogether.

im watching this video while my still boxed GE75 sits on the table in front of me. just picked it up at Costco with 16 Gb or Ram, the RTX 2070, and a 500 gig SSD, plus a 1Tb data drive (5400 rpm boo). $1500 My last new gaming computer was a 2008 Dell M1730 base model (still running with Windows XP with memory maxxed at 4Gb, a 500 Gb Samsung EVO SSD and a 256 Meg Nvidia card). The Dell M1730 weighs twice as much as this GE75

Can you review the asus rog scar 17. I would love to buy a laptop that can be used in a long term scenario. The specs are just perfect. I have few concerns though, does throttling cause damage to the laptop? I heard asus parts are hard to come by if anything happens out of the warranty period. I do have a autherised service center near were I live. Also there is the i7 16gb and i9 32gb available both has 2080 super, with a cost difference of around 50k rs (900 dollar) . Is the i9 worth the investment ?

Throttling will not damage your components. However it has been said that have them run high could impact their longevity. If you have a service center near you, you should likely be okay for access to parts. As for the i7 or i9, really this does make much difference in games. The i9 puts out more heat too. To me 900 for just the i9 and 16GB of memory is far too much. I'll look to bring a Scar17 in. However the Scar 15 I reviewed wasn't great.

@@CETechTips The 2020 zephyrus s15 is also available for 272k, the scar17 i9 is 270k shall I go for that. Same spec and even lighter.

It is decent for that price I would think you should be able to get a 2070 Super though.

Missed one....2080 Super Max P. That is the fastest. However not the whole story either. Some have different wattages as well. The one in this model is the 2080 Super Max P 150Watt. The other variable is how good the cooling is as that could end up throttling the GPU.
