I watched the director's interview. He was a korean immigrant in the usa and wanted to create a story reflecting his struggles. I like how the fire community is separated and struggled to fit in with their unique culture. It isnt an exciting film but still heartwarming.

It’s actually such a shame how poorly the actual trailer represented this movie. The actual trailer honestly made it seem like it would suck. Not a representation of how good the movie really is at all this is genuinely way better than the professionally made multi million dollar trailer they came up with just bc you actually understand the story and don’t think the movie is all just “pretty elements oooo”

I think once you watch it, it’s easy to pick up that it’s a POC/interracial story. But if you base it entirely on the media marketing for the movie (trailers/commercials), you would never know because they didn’t market the movie as such.

I HATED elemental primarily for the shipping of the fire girl and the water boy(forgot their bitch ass names) because like why can’t they boys and girls just stay friends I feel like In every Disney/Pixar animation it ends up in love with a boy x girl like I’m so tired of it and obviously the blunt discrimination like zootopia was way better at showing discrimination than elemental was

I think elemental showed discrimination of immigrants just fine. Its blunt too. And subtle too like the place not being accommodating to immigrants. And the struggle to keep your culture alive in a foreign land. Trying to make a foreign land your home. Its a masterpiece.

The romance aspect is actually more well done, i hate unnecessary romance too but i can feel the natural chemistry (lol) between the two of them.
