You ended with “The Muppet’s Christmas Carol”, why wasn’t it either on the list or an honorable mention? It’s my favorite version (with apologies to Sir Patrick Stewart). Now as for Christmas in Connecticut”, I’m amazed, it’s always been a favorite of mine since I discovered it in 73 as a teenager. I had no idea it had become so popular!! Yay!
@toddsimpson916421 күн бұрын
Agreed, MUPPETS CHRISTMAS CAROL is probably the most family-friendly CHRISTMAS CAROL out there, with the MUPPETS wit and humor. It is said that Sir Michael Caine LOVED working on the movie, he told the producers/directors he would do it like he was doing Shakespeare.

"It's a Wonderful Life" is the best movie to watch around Christmas. It fills you with appreciation for your life, and while it wasn't a big hit in 1946, repeated airings popularised it.

The remake with David Hartman and Sebastian Cabot is really good too. However, I didn't care for the Richard Attenborough version. The Reginald Owen, Gene Lockhart version of "A Christmas Carol" is good and so are the Mister Magoo and Muppet versions.🤔😊👍 I agree with the top three here!

Alistair Sim is the best Scrooge.
@danmc781517 күн бұрын
Yes, Alistair Sim plays Scrooge about as good as anyone could. He is indifferent in the beginning, not mean or nasty. And then, he is so happy he is giddy at the end, as someone just saved. Awesome movie!
@janflewelling627717 күн бұрын
@@danmc7815 It's not just the giddy happiness, but the clear humility and remorse when he goes to see his nephew and hesitates to enter. Love the sweet encouragement from the servant girl who answered the door. More was said silently in that one exchange than many speeches could say.
@danmc781516 күн бұрын
@janflewelling6277 You are right. Sim sets the right tone again and again in this movie. I would also add the look when he meets the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. He had a look of sheer terror, as if he was soiling, well, himself. And, his gradual change of attitude with each spirit. He is not the same character after Marley leaves and changes with each Ghost. I watch this every year and have for decades, beginning in the 1980s thanks to my father who loves it too.
@janflewelling627716 күн бұрын
@ Sounds like you have it memorized as I do. It’s just not Christmas until I’ve watched it. It’s #1 on my list, followed by Muppets Christmas Carol, and Mr Magoo’s Christmas. None of the other adaptations count.

The video beautifully balances nostalgic storytelling with insightful commentary, making it both entertaining and informative. The ranking includes a wide range of genres, showcasing diverse ways filmmakers celebrate Christmas. I learned how movies from different decades reflect the evolving themes of Christmas, from family chaos in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to the timeless values in It’s a Wonderful Life. The influence of music in holiday films, such as Irving Berlin’s songs in White Christmas, creates enduring memories and emotional connections.
