My college basically shut down the day after the election. I was taking gen eds at a small community college and half the student body just stopped going for the semester. The professor that taught english literally just sat at her desk and cried. All our tests were cancled for the rest of the semester and clases just turned into discussion sessions. Looking back now it almost doesnt seem real at how fucking insane the whole thing was 😂😂😂😂😂

I was still a teen. My Dad was a huge Trump guy. I remember walking into the living room and being like "hows the election" and he said with slight amazement "he actually might win". Felt happy for my old man to be honest. He hadnt had a win like that in a long time politically. I remember the night Trump won so vividly. I saw the announcement and just BUSTED out laughing. This was before I saw anyone else's reaction. We were living in Hawaii, and my wife was at work. All the nurses at her job were crying like the world was ending lol. My wife was crying too, so they tried to console her. She played along, but they were tears of joy lol. Turns out my reaction was a common reaction. Seeing the corporate media reactions were so classic. Every now and then I go and watch those compilations 🤣😂🤣😂

I was at a pretty decent expensive college at the time and for the whole election me and my roommate were all about how gay voting is and how both parties sucked but as soon as Trump was swinging ahead and we saw all the Clintonites getting upset... I was at my liberal arts alma mater when he won. Whatever you’re imagining the reaction was, I promise you that’s exactly what it was. I wasn’t exactly hyped that he won just cause I knew he was mostly running for president out of spite. But this college’s reaction was so dumb and over the top bad I had to call my friends who voted for him just to talk to people who were in a good mood. I look back on that night and laugh now. I watched about 1200 people lose their minds. They have never gotten them back.

I’ve often heard my boys say I don’t vote, why should I care when the Prez is just gonna be some rich guy. What I remind them is this: the Prez gets to pick the judges for the Supreme Court. And you would rather have that packed with our players, dude. It matters greatly. One great example of a case our side won is Ricci v. DeStefano. It was a case where the question at the centre of it was whether it’s okay to discriminate against white people, especially for employment and promotions. All Republican-chosen judges felt it is not okay. And all Democrat-chosen judges, including Bader-Ginsburg, felt that it is okay to discriminate whites. Thank God for right wing judges.
