I remember watching this as a kid. I had to sneak out of my room, turn on the TV, and set the volume as low as possible but still hear it so I didn't wake up my parents whose bedroom was right next to the TV. When Joel said, "LET ME OUTTA HERE!" I cracked up laughing, woke up my parents, got yelled at and was sent back to bed.

Little known fact: "Johnny" is played by Charles Pachter, who grew up to be a renowned Canadian painter, sculptor, designer and historian/lecturer whose works have garnered him an order of Canada. His web site is cpachter . com . One of his most famous works is Noblesse Oblige, 1972, which depicts Queen Elizabeth riding a Canadian moose. ;) Pachter recently mentioned his role in this film during an interview on CBC radio.

I'd call it charming if not for the fact that not one adult in that fair (aside from a policeman) thinks to ask where his parents are. Hell, my little brother pulled a Johnny at a rodeo in the early 80's and my parents panicked for the half hour it took to get him back. While I love this short, I can't help but find it bizarre how they downplay the parent's concern - and the total lack of concern by the adults he encounters.

+Shannon Ongley Totally. This whole short is based on a scenario that any parent worth his/her salt lives in fear of. Imagine losing your kid in a crowd of 250,000 ppl. Speaking of which, I was with my son at the local mall's food court and we found another little boy who had lost his dad. We kept him with us until we found a security guard and turned him over, and I saw a little later that the guard found the kid's dad. Before we left, I walked past the dad and saw him absorbed in his personal device, totally not watching his kid again. Idiot.
