MTA New York City Transit and MTA Bus Company have retired their final Orion Bus Industries Orion VII low-floor transit buses in March 2024. The first Orion VII first- and second-generation low-floor buses were ordered in 2002-2003, and the last ones were built in 2007. New York City Transit operated CNG versions (#7560-7819) and hybrid versions (#6365-6905), while MTA Bus only ordered hybrid versions (#3500-3783). In later years, some NYCT units were transferred to MTA Bus to retire older Orion V and TMC/NovaBUS RTS-06 buses, while NYCT received NovaBUS LFS and New Flyer Xcelsiors.
There are still Orion VII low-floor buses in service, though only the Next-Generation (NG) version and Third Generation (3G aka EPA-2010) units are currently running. This video focuses on the older generation (OG).
