Wow just fu@/!$g wow.
The town and the trails.. we absolutely loved every moment in Queenstown, Tasmania.
THE TOWN:
What a friendly community Queenstown has. From the welcoming, friendly staff at the local coffee shop (JJs coffee) to the awesome hosts at the caravan park. Some towns we visited during our Tassie trip didn’t have that friendly vibe. We found the rad people of Queenstown to be extra welcoming and happy towards people that have traveled to the town to experience the new mountain bike trails. Every time I would come down from a ride there were multiple town folk asking how it was, and they were stoked to hear I was loving it.
THE TRAILS:
Scary…………
But so sick, it’s just totally different from anything I have experienced on two wheels. The epic views would take over my whole vision and I would find it hard to concentrate on the trail in front of me. After a couple of days I started to get over that overwhelming sensation and got into more of a groove. The terrain is super skatey and you can actually feel all the rocks sliding around under your tyres. The trail makes some crazy sounds as random rocks would roll down the mountain next to you as your trying to slide your bike into a less deadly situation.
Then there’s Natural Selection. The new double black diamond trail that takes off from close to the top of Mount Owen. I think this was the funnest and scariest trail I have ever ridden. Steep, loose and technical. It’s a must do for anyone looking to test themselves on a trail that is totally unique to any other.
Cheers Queenstown!!!!!

Queenstown is chasing Derby for the MTB dollar. I drove through Queenstown a few weeks ago, still a ghost town. I expected more MTB based shops and people riding bikes. I think I saw one bike on a roof rack. I hope Queenstown takes off because it needs a draw card. For Tasmanians it’s too far away, they don’t like to travel more than an hour or so. They’ve built it but It’ll be interesting to see if tourists come.

I look forward to a future where folks cease adding music to vids, especially ones in nature, or any real world experiences. 1. I prefer to listen to the sounds accompanying the visuals. 2. Not interested in being forced to listen to other's playlists. 3. If I wanna listen to music, logically, I'll listen to my playlists, and not watch YT vids for my music consumption. 4. Imagine the time saved during vid editing of not looking for music or adding it in.
