This is a draft taken from the Twitch Rivals team draft tournament I played in. Everyone had to complete 3 traditional drafts in 6 hours and the total score of both players counted. I teamed up with FilthyRobot and we ended in 4th place with a combined 24 wins and 6 losses. Because of the time limit I don't go into as much detail as usual during the draft or gameplay.

Managed to win my first war of the sparks draft, by getting both 1 copy of Bolas and 1 copy of Ashiok. Took me 3 hours + to finish with a 5-0 :). All thanks to you LegenVD, you taught me how to play Magic and be able to make these good decisions especially on drafts, keep up the good work man.

yeah that was a misplay imo

Yep, that was way to greedy for a potential draw (1:16?). Especially when so far behind on board.

It was the only thing he had at the moment that wins games and he could have played around the counterspell, but doesnt for a potential draw. i just dont get it.

After seeing red so cut I'd have probably tried to splash it starting p2p1. Despite the RR casting cost. Probably not though. Need quite a bit of fixing for it. I've done it for p3p1 liliana. Third opponent seemed like a huatli deck that didn't draw huatli. Love the text commentary!

@Kamedemak5 жыл бұрын
Damn, LVD, are you in a game? ARE YOU?? ;) Great gameplay as always, Sarkhan and Ilharg definitely helped make the deck go over the top. Kind of also feel bad for the last opponent: Dreadmalkin is an amazing card and he should have been more aggressive sac'ing his fodder, especially if like in Game3 he didn't have a turn 3 or turn 4 play.

Holy fuck that Nahiri into Sarkhan in the first game! Ouch!
@alfieredrup16365 жыл бұрын
That Ilharg into Crush Dissent was quite poor, you knew about it from a prior game when the opponent binned it. Definitely should have played the land instead of keeping it for discard fodder. Great upload as usual though 👍🏻
@LegenVD5 жыл бұрын
Didn't notice it in the previous game.

Man when you didnt play that land and got counterspelled I was legit screaming internally because you made the right play but ugh
@obesechicken135 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking crush dissent too but he explained why he didn't play around it.
@SirMcAwesome5 жыл бұрын
As soon as he said he would keep the land in hand I thought "he's getting crush dissented for sure". But given that its a fairly bad and not often played counter he was right to not play around it.
@Kamedemak5 жыл бұрын
It was also very suspicious that Ilharg got Totally Lost'ed. It kind of screamed to me that opponent was probably planning to counter it on the way back. I think I would have played the land too, but it's easy to say without the tension of the match I guess.
@benoitdesrosiers84985 жыл бұрын
That what the right play against all colors but blue... It was a big misplay, even more since he was playing around no escape at 3 mana a few turns earlier.
@SirMcAwesome5 жыл бұрын
@@benoitdesrosiers8498 no escape is played a lot more than dissent. Dissent is overall a bad card so most good players will leave it out of their decks unless they dont have enough playables. It wasn't necessarily the wrong play, but hindsight is great.

Ilharg is such a bomb when you have a pollenbright druid. If the creature that ilharg brings into combat is blocked and dies does it still return to your hand?
@LegenVD5 жыл бұрын
It only returns if it's still alive.
@z.s.79925 жыл бұрын
@@LegenVD that's okay I guess. It would be too overpowered if it returned even if it dies

Nice, draft and get game 1 going in about 10 minutes. The 20 minute drafting was wayyyy too long and I'm guessing people would just skip after 10 mins to the first game

I think this draft was quick simply because he was playing in a Twitch Rivals event, rather than people not liking the usual style. You may prefer the quicker draft, and that’s fine, but for me personally, his detailed explanations for why he picks certain cards over others is one of the main reasons I’ve fallen in love with his content. It’s helped me as a relatively new player of Magic (only had a very basic knowledge of the game until I started playing when Arena’s Open Beta went live on GRN’s release) maintain a solid win rate in draft on Arena. I enjoy hearing his insights on the game, and the draft section is one of the best parts of his draft videos, imo
