@Strictly Better Mtg Hey Dev, I played a few games with this deck at my local shop. Game 1: I lost 1-2 to a Scarab god deck that sideboarded in a playset of hostage taker and just stole my Lord of the Accursed and gave all his own Zombies menace. Game 2: I played to a draw against Abzan Tokens. We didn't even get through the first round lol. This match up is where I would have liked to have a sweeper in the deck but I really noticed the impact that Dread Wanderer and Plague Belcher had. Those 2 cards are very much responsible for keeping me in the game, MVPs for sure. Game 3: 2-0 win against a Simic Merfolk deck. Wasn't a challenge. The binding mummy coming down just made his board slow to a crawl and he couldn't really do anything to stop me from getting in for huge chunks of damage even when he had available blockers because of Lord of the Accursed. ( I also had the extreme pleasure of playing 2 Liliana's Mastery back to back with a lord out and swung in for 10 damage with menace on a couple tokens haha) Game 4: We only had time for 2 rounds. He was running Mono Red Burn. We each won a round. There wasn't really any stand out plays or anything unexpected but it was pretty clear throughout both rounds that I was able to keep up a decent pace. I'm pretty confident that I would have won the 3rd round. I think my favorite part of this deck is it's consistent snowball effect. Every round I played, if they didn't have a board wipe and a follow up, it just got out of control very fast. I'm definitely going to keep playing this deck. Some thoughts on this list. I currently run a strictly worse version of this deck (I made it because Orzhov is one of my favorite color combos and Zombies is my favorite tribe, but I didn't want to bother with buying the pricey zombies that made the deck pro level, as they were going out of standard), but I think it has some advantages. You need to run probably 2 Unraveling mummies in the Midrange and Aggro Matchups (probably in the sideboard). The lifelink really helps you beat the Aggro match-up in the race against life totals, and the deathtouch is very useful pressure. Additionally, although Fan-Bearer is a good one drop, I would suggest to replace it with Time to Reflect. In this deck, it's the best removal spell. Sure, an opponent that knows you have it will work around it, but most creatures people are running don't want to not block or attack. It works very well against Hazoret and The Scarab God, two hard to deal with creatures that are ridiculously popular in this format and it's one mana. It was probably overlooked on account that it is pretty much garbage anywhere else, but it is incredibly budget (it goes for a dollar for a playset) and is strictly better than Walk the Plank and is better than Push sometimes too. I would run 1 Walk the plank, and one less Fan-Bearer just to use a playset of these in the deck. Also I'm glad you're using Binding Mummy, It's honestly stupidly good in this deck. Often times you are tapping down 2 with just one out and even in the first match against an aggro player, it's still a bear that can tap down their blockers when they need it in the late game. One card I have been running that is a great finisher, though I'm not sure you need it is Unconventional tactics. It can be used repeatedly and it's three mana to pump a guy 3/3 and basically give him unblockable in most matches. The biggest flaw of course is that it can't be used against fliers to block, as it's a sorcery. I would run two instead of keeping the Fan-Bearers in, as I think you are probably overrating their usefulness here, especially when you have the much better Binding Mummy (imo). Most of the time you are spending the same amount of mana to tap down a guy and you aren't tapping Binding Mummy, meaning that when you bring in a Liliana's Mastery, you are tapping down two guys and pumping your whole team, including the binding mummy.

Hi, I've actually been brewing this deck for a bit now and I have some cards that I'm thinking about putting in the deck. Please tell me how you feel about these cards. Unravelling Zombie: Seems like a solid card overall, pretty good many sink and provides some quality abilities. Metallic Mimic: Mostly because I brought up a playset before they spiked, but I do think it can snowball quite fast. Skysouvreign Consul Flagship: Provides reach in the end game, it effectively translates to a bolt every turn as long as you topdeck a creature. Unclaimed Territory: Most of the deck is zombie creatures? Why isn't this an auto include? I also managed to get my hands on a Scarab God from a good trade, so I'm also thinking about splashing blue. Blue will also give me access to Spell Pierce and Opt, which are both good pieces in my opinion, please tell me what you feel, thanks.

Why no Time to Reflect? In a zombie deck it's basically Path to Exile. Probably over Walk the Plank, or maybe just a zombie. Also, In Oketra's Name is bonkers. Not sure what to go down, though. ALSO, some ther synergies that could be in there are Liliana against control, Dunes of the Dead in the manabase to sac to Ifnir and get FREE ZAMBIES, and maybe unraveling mummy?

My guess would be that without Concealed Courtyard in the manabase, he avoided the colorless mana. In Oketra's Name seems too redundant with Lord of the Accursed and Liliana's Mastery and it doesn't add bodies to the ground, surely it can steal games but it feels like Christmas land (I could be very wrong). Time to reflect is surely great and I'd test it. Liliana probably not in there due to budget but should be great too. Unraveling mummy is quite decent but we are already playing 10 arguably better 3-drops.

I've been running some variations on this deck for a while now (won a standard showdaown with one of them too!), and some other stuff to play around with is: - Unconventional Tactics makes Plague Belcher into an 8/7 flyer (even the "puny" dread wanderer becomes a large threat with it), and comes back for 1 white mana whenever you cast another creature. The ability to bring it back from the graveyard is excelent for use against milling or control decks. - Mummy Paramount can also be surprisingly powerful in this deck; if you resolve a Liliana's mastery with this thing on the ground it becomes a 5/5 that you cast for 2, and it will easily be a 3/3 or 4/4 a lot of times. I love seeing people throw their fatal pushes at it instead of my bigger dudes because how easily this thing puffs up... and if they propritize the big stuff this guy can be really annoying. At worst, in the late game you won't miss this guy and can use it as a chump blocker. -Solemnity can be good as a sideboard card to mess around with energy decks and ruin Ballistas, but it also eliminates the downsides of both plague belcher and ammit eternal, keeping them at 5 power (or more) all the time, regardless of the state of your board. Fitting them into the curve can be tricky, but it can do surprising amounts of work. Yes, In Oketra's Name and Time to reflect are good cards to consider as well. Unraveling mummy is simply too expensive for too little payoff, and I've found it to be way too awkward to be viable. if you want to add more desers I'd recommend both desert of the glorified and desert of the true instead of the colorless ones. Yes, they enter the battlefield tapped, but they provide colored mana, the cycling can be very useful when flodded and, if you didn't draw Dread Wanderer in your starting hand, they are fine as your turn 1 land drop.

I just cannot figure out why Ixalan's Binding is only 22 cents and doesn't get more play. You might consider a couple of Bone Pickers in the sideboard against Red or Vampire aggro and flyers... real easy to chump block with a Dread Wanderer and then bring out a 1-mana flying deathtouch beater.

Sure... but casting one Ixalan's Binding = nerfing *every copy* of Hazoret or Scarab God in their deck, and it's not always advisable to keep 4 mana open after your turn on the off chance they will cast the creature you want to exile... and that's for every copy of Cast Out you need to cast, as opposed to casting Ixalan's Binding *once.*

very interesting deck, I'd like to see what your opinion on sideboarding is on the decks you make. Sometimes its hard to think of what to take out in certain match ups. A lot of other deck techs i've read will go over it as well and its very important in certain matchups and can take a few games to get down. Just a thought for your future videos.

I played this deck with couple of edits in WNM at my local shop. Went 1w 2l. Didn’t get run over at all on any of the matchups and had terrible draw on the first matchup. I have decided to improve it a bit by adding Panharminicon to the deck and swapping a few things to make it sync more with that. Enjoying playing b/w zombie thanks for setting me on this path.

Justine Ayers what is your list? I’m running solemnity, no mimics, with the big zombies and doing alright. I feel that panharmonicon is just too big in a deck with such a high curve. Unless I take out the lilianas and sub in pans, not too sure.

Deck looks like it would love a little lifelink. One or two Unraveling Mummy? Mana sink, decent size, synergizes well with all the tapping and menace effects to gain you free life. Killing the occasional Hydra or Cub that's gotten out of hand isn't half bad either.

Is Stir The Sands a possibility for the sideboard? I doubt it'd ever be used for the regular effect, although it would help against a large board state if you already have something to buff your Zombies out, but having the ability to pay four for an uncounterable creature and draw a card sounds nice.

I built a surprisingly good deck that works well at my lgs. You may be interested. It's a dimir artifact deck. It runs Tezzeret's Touch, Opt, Servo Schematic, Dire Fleet Hoarder, Deadeye Plunderer as my top end, Syndicate Trafficker, Weaponcraft Enthusiast, Ornithopter, a pair of Supernatural Stamina for surprise damage and for reusing Weapocraft Enthusiast's etb trigger and a one of Throne of the God Pharoah. It's not an exact decklist but that's the engine I use.

I replaced walk the plank with never//return and the evolving wilds with Liliana, death's majesty but that trade out doesn't seem to fit the style of the deck as making tokens and discarding two cards can get rid of well needed spells but discarding creatures doesn't matter with the other Planeswalker abilities.

I just got back in after rotation and I have been playing this and it is tooo fun and I have had some decent success. I use metallic mimic as well as festering mummy which can be an annoying one drop against aggro . Unconventional tactics is good too to get a little evasion. Wayward servant is a solid choice vs red. I also play unclaimed territory as a tribal land and it's not very expensive.

I just made this same deck. I played differnt removal and had more of a life drain theme. Played it at a lower curve also didnt have plaugue belcher i had deserts too in my lands for desert's hold

I love this deck because its the closest thing to my favorite deck playstyle ever which was drain gain with black/white allys. Ive been trying to find something similar with vampires but nothing that feels right. but just from the look of this it really feels like my playstyle the only other decks I have enjoyed playing were green white good stuff and green white tokens which were variations of the same thing.

props for giving Ixalan's Binding its proper respect. Lets face it; if cast out was worth that 4; we wouldn't need it to cycle. When you cycle you are paying to replace your wasted turn. I love Gideons intervention too, but not nearly as good as Ixalan's Binding.

I played Mono Black Zombies last night, because Hallowe’en... wanted Wayward Servant, but didn’t have the mana base. Ran: Wretched Camel Doomed Dissenter Festering Mummy Into Plague Belcher Instead... did so much better than i thought it would. People either HATE or love losing to janky commons like this.

This isn’t far off from what a lot of pros are/were testing against. If you watch Gerry T’s little video that came out on the MtG channel around the time of Nationals, B/W zombies is on a whiteboard in the background as a “tier 2” deck. Also what I play, and it’s done well consistently for me, even when it doesn’t go off with Anointed Procession and Liliana’s Mastery. 4x Wayward Servant 4x Lord of the Accursed 4x Metallic Mimic 4x Festering Mummy 2x Ammit Eternal 2x Plague Belcher 1x Skysovereign, Consul Flagship 1x Lost Legacy 2x Fatal Push 1x Vraska’s Contempt 1x Walk the Plank 3x Supernatural Stamina 2x Sheltering Light 1x Essence Extraction

Elijah Kleinman mainly just a flyer that’s relatively easy to crew. Where it would usually be a sideboard card, if included at all, I main one. It seems to go unanswered when I play it, and I’m usually crewing it with a token so the utility zombies can do their thing. I think there are better decks out there with zombies. There are multiple ways to build it but not a lot of playtest results to go off of to keep up with the meta

I think Cast Out is better than Forsake as a "catch all". Definitely need Cast Out, Bone Picker, Concealed Courtyard and Fatal Push if you wanna win games. I think Binding Mummy is enough of a tap down, so I would replace the Fan Bearers with Bone Pickers.
