plague belcher is a house in this deck. I moved the spiders and archfiend to the side, shaved the key. Running suite of abrade ( very important for the monument matchup), fatal push and grasp ( clean answer to glorybringer) as well as a couple tireless trackers for draw and crocs of the crossing to pressure planeswalkers ( mainly Gideon and Chandra which the deck struggles against. Pair of hapatra's mark main. And one driven to dispair as a spice fun of. T2 hapatra, T3 grind hold up hapatra's mark. T4 driven/ dispair ends games

Spencer Moore this standard is so cheap, that's probably just how it is. Some of these cards with -1s are not good in other archetypes, so they are not popular or expensive....yet.

I don't think there's a way to make this deck competitive. It's just extremely slow to start, the cards by themselves don't do much and require synergy. You could say the same about Heart of Kiran who's dead by itself, but it's so easy to enable that the comparison does not quite work. Here, without Hapatra on the board, you can fold since the game will be over very quickly. You can't race anyone and you can't kill big creatures.

Driven / Despair plays very well in this sort of deck to gain card draw / trample and giving your guys menace for just four mana. Also been testing with Mirage Mirror, and this gives some good versatility allowing you to double Haptra, Obelisk Spider, or Archfiend triggers for two mana.

Gah, gonna have a semi for a week. Dev, RB aggro. I know you're excited about it. Do it hombre. I'm really glad you mentioned obelisk spider. Didn't notice the life comment there - switching this out for Baleful Ammit ASAP as possible. I disagree a tad with punisher - lethal sting is immediate removal and that counter just fuels channeler initiate. Archfiend and key to the city seems strange to me as well. I'm currently doing festering mummy, bonepicker, exemplar of strength. On turn 3, if mummy and happatra are out, you can toss out a 4/4, 3/2 flyer with death touch, and 2 sneks if you drop exemplars counters on mummy. Plus mommy's -1 counter might sack a dread wonderer or something

Another amazing deck tech! I really like all the synergies in this deck. Very nice. I think I wouldn't mind getting Black/Red Aggro out of the way before Mono-Green Stompy. I definitely prefer Mono-Green Stompy, but you've been pushing Black/Red Aggro for awhile. You might as well as get it out of the way.

3x Key to the City, 1x Decimator Beetle. Maybe a one-of Anointed Procession somewhere. Exactly the deck I wanna play. I thought hard about Soul-Scar Mage, too. It must be really really cool to Blazing Volley a -1/-1 counter on each of the opponent's creatures for one mana getting all those snakez, but well, to make that happen, you have to have Soul-Scar Mage AND Hapatra on the board. Maybe I'd play Hapatra's Mark mainboard, don't know what to cut for it though, and switch it to Heroic Intervention from the sideboard if opponent's playing mass removal. I think Bontu's Reckoning could be a thing and maybe someone even wants to try out Fumigate again versus decks like Monument ... or Hapatra.

Why no Grasping Dunes in the mana base? Also, I think less cycle lands should be played in favor for basic lands to try to help our chances at the turn 2 hapatra. Or any turn 2 play. Also, thoughts on soul-scar mage, defiant greatmaw, and consuming fervor? Consuming fervor boosts the creature as well as providing a snake every turn (assuming Hapatra is around).

Lol, I made the opposite version of this deck. It's Abzan, and plays all the creatures that have - 1/-1 counters as their "drawback". But then play main deck Solemnity. So you get full value. It makes all the creatures above curve, and randomly hoses some decks... Like this one for instance.

I was surprised not to see Exemplar of Strength in the deck as a source of -1/-1 counter "cure". But in a way, it seems like Ammit Eternal just replaces that slot very well.

If anyone is interested in options, this deck a true tempo deck, I tried this deck out but took out scorpion god, 1 Emmit, and all key to the city in place of a playset of consuming fervor and 3 exemplar of strength and this did better speed wise. Then if you want to change it up a bit you can add a playset of solemnity to get some meaty creatures out for cheap.

If you use Aether Hub and Survivor's Encampment, I think it is a better flow of cards, and less expensive. You are going to have quite a few creatures coming out, for the encampment, so having too many none basics seems a bit over the top. Maybe I am wrong, but if you drop the Scorpion God, you maybe dropping the power a bit, but it makes the deck a lot cheaper..

Hey for everyone i took almost this exact list to scg ATL but it was jund. Ifnir was a 3 of and i found out that it feels so bad when ifnir gets grasped, or when it or scorpion god gets countered because UR control was way, WAY more popular than monument decks and i just got hit hard, i had prowling seperord (sorry i can't remember the name) but then it dies to abrade, revolted push, grasp again, I think think this deck will be much better when this next set comes out and cycles out grasp and delirium. I went 4-4 in the standard classic, lost to 3 delirium decks and 1 UR control deck, i took it to the side events and went 2-2 lost only to delirium, the deck I ran has maindeck sweltering suns and it was able to crush UW monument, i had a soulscar mage and scorpion god out and drew 8 cards from casting suns, felt good but I like this list too, I'll habe to try it out only need to change a few cards

Dispel is a side board card and if you still want counters build sultai. I run blue for counters a lot but you don't want too many or it'll slow you down

Hapatra only makes 1 snake when you put multiple -1/-1 counters down at the same time. Nest of Scarabs makes the same number of tokens as the number of -1/-1 counters. So if you play Channeller Initiate, you would only get 1 snake token from Hapatra. Not 3.

Hi Dev, I like your decks and this looks interesting. Have tried it out at a local gamesday and it has fared really poorly against zombies and gets ripped apart by red aggro. The tapland mana base is not great and you're always 2-3 turns too slow before you go off. If the opponent has 2-3 removals you're finished because they will disrupt your setup. Overall really disappointing and in this environment you just die almost immediately. Nice trying with this deck anyway.

Rulings 4/18/2017If you put any number of -1/-1 counters on more than one creature at once, Hapatra’s last ability triggers once for each of those creatures. Sorry disregard, card is way stronger than I thought.

Very nice deck tech! One thing tho: I think that playing white in here is not really worth it for what you've been playing, I'd rather play a set of Push and Abrade to keep these aggro decks far away, as they are instant speed and way too cheap. Grind/Dust is balls when you got the right setup... but cards that need "the right setup" keep the deck from shining. You have 4 Key to the City and a biiiig amount of creatures on board, which does not depend on what the opponent play so... why not add some Driven/Despair? It can basically wreck ANY deck by giving you big hand advantage while decimating theirs. Overall... I think the deck can have a lot of competitive potential by having the right sideboard. Things like Doomfall, Lay Bare The Heart, Lost Legacy and Heroic Intervention can be huge game changers! Hell, even a couple of Glorybringers on the sideboard as they are great game finishers. Rest of the deck is on point!!

So cards i think should have made it plague Belcher, aether hub maybe as a better fixer, i really think hour of glory needs a spot as instant speed exile with a possible bonus. Torment of venom instead of bonds of agony. And if running aether hub maybe 2 live fast to draw into scorpion god. Maybe cut 2 grind/dust and add 2 driven/despair its on color and i like the idea that mid or late my snake army should be able to get threw and draw me 3 to 4 cards and loot there hand of they are sitting on something. Not sure yet will have to try a few things out when i get home from work. But if you are already fixing for just red black green with aether hub and chaniler i personally am going to throw in a 1 off nicol bolas because i like to have alt closer and it would just be funny. But for sure i think post grasp hour of glory should be and probably will be the auto include removal. Also i want to put push on this i don't know why i kust feel compelled to put at least 2 in anything with black even if it doesn't fit.

Monument has been one of my best matchups! It takes time to start, but it can usually just get slowroll wins if it draws removal. The right play can tough to identify too, so experience really helps. Maybe they just need to get some more reps in

not too far from what I've been testing, modulo Grind // Dust which I never tried. Mardu Ballista is a terrible matchup for this deck also, it's just too damn fast for the answers we have. ZERO Fatal Push anywhere is a mistake in my opinion, or for that matter limiting removal to -1/-1 which is weak. I think this list is geared towards WU Monument since it does not have anything scary, but any deck with vehicles/planeswalkers or even Glorybringer is a nightmare to deal with. My experience is that Hapatra is essential to making this deck work, and far too fragile for being reliable.
