As has been pointed out, from 10-7 the number of Top 8s is missing. Woops! The total score for all of them is accurate, at least.

I started playing in in Khans of Tarkir. I remember Butcher of the Horde was my first draft pick ever. I thought it was super cool but I remember losing a game or two because I kept greedily saccing creatures to it.

Standard during Tarkir was bonkers. I still get flashbacks to "Jeskai Black" decks and whatever four color monstrositieswere kicking around back then.

Mardu has had it a little rough over the years. Its hard to balance the 3 colors removals with each other without feeling superfluous. Since something like vindicate already kills anything. They have really cool creatures tho so I hope they find a power balance with them.
@TheMightyBattleSquid2 жыл бұрын
Nah nah nah it's red black and white so OBVIOUSLY you just add damage, draining, and/or lifegain to the vindicate effects! This design stuff is ez, wotc HIRE ME!
@TempestDacine2 жыл бұрын
@@TheMightyBattleSquid haha yeah they do that alot though I think even they know people feel its tacked on to justify it being red.
@kokusho12 жыл бұрын
Crackling Doom felt like the perfect design in those colors. 2 damage (red) sacs a creature (black) of the highest power (white)
@TheMightyBattleSquid2 жыл бұрын
@@kokusho1 I like how black and red give benefits while white is just drawback. Classic riot design for white lmao
@kokusho12 жыл бұрын
@@TheMightyBattleSquid idk that I would necessarily call it a drawback. Usually the highest power creature is the best creature on the board. Not always, of course, but typically.

I didn't start playing until long after Tarkir so the clans never meant much to me, much like the Ravnica guilds. But what I can appreciate is a list with so few points. Sometimes it's nice to see a card that got played in like five decks be number 3 on a list. Perhaps one day, some secret niche will make one of these wannabe stars even make it onto "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!

Mardu Charm and Crackling Doom also played a big role in why Seige Rhino was so good, as it was one if the few low cost creatures who could survive the charm, and it traded efficiently with crackling doom.

Ruinous ultimatum brings so much joy to my heart. The flavor is so raw and it’s a big stupid and good boardwipe. Mardu got an excellent overall Ultimatum even if it’s not quite as inherently broken as Genesis and emergent Ultimatum

The other big reason dredge sometimes runs Smiting Helix/Creeping Chill is because they let you resurrect any copies of Silversmote Ghoul that have found their way into your graveyard (the condition for that being gaining 3 or more life)

5:44 how is it I've NEVER heard of Mardu charm before? I assumed it was one of those really garbage ones since it never shows up on edhrec and the like. 3 mana for 2 tokens or to deal 4 isn't nearly as niche as most underplayed charms and I can see situations where someone tutors/returns a card and you'd want to use the 3rd effect to rip it back out of their hand.

Knew it was Crackling Doom at #1. It wasn't just Jeskai decks splashing it either; there was always the dreaded Five-Color Rhino deck, which could use it as a board stall breaker.

@@NizzahonMagic in 2 or 3 years, when you revisit this list, if Hordechief has gained points and is higher on the list, then you should give me a shout out. If it hasn't or if it has dropped off the list entirely, I will send you a really sweet MtG Mystery Booster. Basically I'll just throw a bunch of random packs from some of the best sets and throw them into a box for you. Maybe you could even do an Unboxing / Pack Crack video or something

Well, specifically -- the Hordechief has to see play with Isshin for your prediction to be true! While I'm reasonably confident the Hordechief won't gain points at all, I'm VERY confident that there won't be an Isshin deck featuring the Hordechief in any format.
