when menace gets bigger most of these cards if not all will fall off I feel. only a couple are currently eternally playable, and that is how you continue to get points. since almost all these were standard all-stars and nothing more, I am curious to see how this will change in 2 years time

Menace is my favorite mechanic ever. It is strong while not being overpowered. Also there is so much flavor win around it.

Something off-tangent: the inverse menace mechanic (the one that only allows one opponent's creature to block an attacking creature) should be given a keyword of its own. Since menace is already in existence, do any of you have any good ideas for this one?

Insolent neonate also sees play in bridge from below decks. It has a very strong interaction where the bridge sees the neonate die so you also get a zombie token. Bridge vine is still good right?

I''m sure that Kari Zev will find a home in Modern...probably a speedy, non-tribal Rakdos deck with some kind of decent sac outlet. I've been trying to make her work...but the deck just isn't there yet.

The 2 drop slot is pretty weak for red. As a result kari zev is likely one of the strongest 2 drop red creatures in modern (If not THE strongest, no stronger 2 drop creatures come to mind right now). I'm sure she'll find a competitive home at some point. I've got her in a mono-red deck that runs volcanic fallout and pyrohemia that plans on repeatedly doing 2 damage to all creatures and players and finishing the game with boros reckoner and chandra's spitfire. Kari Zev doesn't do anything synergistic, but she's the only good 3 toughness 2 drop to add pressure and her menace and token tend to get in for damage alot when small opposing creatures die every turn. It's not tier 1, but it is quite good for a fair deck that's mono-color. I feel like kari zev will be a good curve filler in a very specific competitive deck, or a very good card in a deck with a Sac outlet like the one you have (I never thought to use her with a sac outlet, that's really cool).

​@@NizzahonMagic Maybe it's because they have as many 3ccs as 2ccs because of Noble Hierarch and Thalia is the most important 2-drop in the deck. Maybe it's because 5 color humans is both control and aggro...and Kari falls almost entirely into the aggro category without any real value beyond damage. If the hypothetical sac outlet I want was a human...that might change everything.

BrainlessEd Young pyromancer Edilon of the great revel are both way better red decks don’t need that many two drops. She does nothing when you play her and the max she can do is 3 damage total?? She won’t see modern play

@@peewee130946 She generates tokens on her own, without instants/sorceries...like I said, all that needs to happen is a decent sac outlet, then she's good in Modern. She's not quite there yet.

You can always go to EDHREC and look up the stats but I agree it'd be an interesting side analysis for popularity in Commander. Rampaging Ferocidon is only in 1% of 95,806 decks for example. Seems like it'd be more popular for what it does.

He is not a creature a significant chunk of the time, and that effect is pretty crappy on a 4 mana enchantment. That's why he hasn't been played at all at high levels.
