@Kel'Thuzad 'Bomb' means it will turn the game and mean a win unless you deal with it immediately. She fits that definition. I had her in two separate sealed decks and she is massive but not unstoppable. Like you said, if the opponent is wide she does not help. The Wanderer/Wanderer Strike removes her. Damage her back into the deck, etc.

The non-amass zombie tokens are both on mythics, so you will probably never have both, but either is great with amass ability granters are suddenly more valuable if you get either.

From experience on arena, sarkhan wins games by himself with ease. Especially when you play him on turn 3 on the play lol.... I’m so sorry to the guy I did that to.

@Kel'Thuzad well, I had an Oketra in my sealed pool ( which was actually absurdly good, two gideons!) and one of my opponents continually used some blue enchantment that turned it into a 1/1 with no abilities, meaning even if it died, it wouldn't go back in my library. such a god-slayer card, so its not quite an auto win. pretty close though.

Gods are why Kasmina's Transmutation is a top 3 if not the best creature "removal" of the set !

+1/+1 counters are why it isn't as good as you think it is! It is good, but certainly not a bomb.

Nonetheless, being able to cancel the ability of the gods to go back in the librairy as well as the situational one on some of them (well all of them except Bontu i guess) can't be ignore. It's related to the fact that if you got a God in seal or draft, it's not an auto win, but you start way ahead of players who don't. And so little deal with them. Some counterspell, yes, but what else ?

Decided to do one more sealed event on Magic Arena last night, cracked Gideon and Okeira. My first 7 wins!

One I found to be particularly good (albeit expensive to cast at 6WW) is Parhelion II. If your opponent cant deal with it, then they just die to it. It creates two 4/4 vigilant angel tokens every time it attacks, which can also then be used to crew it again so you have a bigger blocker on your opponents turn.

You're totally right about the number of bombs, the whole list I was wondering how you were gonna narrow down the number of cards that would make the biggest impact. Finale of Devastation is nuts, God Eternal Rhonas is insane, Narset is wicked, Teferi looks so gross, even the new Karn is worth mentioning. This set is just packed with dynamite, and I'm especially glad to see Roalesk and Nissa made your list! I'd love to play something around those two!

@@NizzahonMagic New Karn can be ridiculous if you end up with a lot of the vehicles, especially Parhelion II (which he can crew and pump at the same time). Even better is that you don't have to maindeck the vehicles if you do, you can bring them in with his -2. I do agree that he's horrible 99% of the time though.

In my prerelease kit I somehow managed to pull 2 gideons, 2 gideon's triumphs, and an Oketra! I also had a huatli, which made Oketra even more ludicrously strong! best prerelease deck I've ever had!

Put Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God in my Sisay, Weatherlight Captain deck. Just an awesome way to access him more easily and vomit planeswalkers in general. Then use Sarkhan, The Masterless to turn all your planeswalkers into dragons and crack for massive damage

Black as a whole is so strong now, that alone makes Lili 10xs more of a threat, the cards have synergies with her make her the number 1 bomb of spark.

You know, as good as these cards are, I just wish that they'd put Rock Lobster back in power so that it would be a limited bomb. Although, the biggest bomb is the "Request Top 10 Vintage Cards" card. I think it's really good!

Nicol yes hard to cast in Standard but in Modern/Legacy no problem. I think without looking it up we couldn't name all mana creation or mana reduction (like medallions) Cards, from the obscure (Kamigawa's got some fun lands) to power nine to Mox Amber (which everyone said sucked 60 days ago).

Ashiok really should have been on this list. If they can't do anything about her she eats through half their deck in five turns without being able to bring any of it back. All for three mana, either black or blue. Mill in limited is almost always broken, especially if you can do it multiple times in a game.

The problem is that Ashiok is nearly the only way to mill. With no other support, you'll never get through the whole deck. Not good enough.

I think I'd rather have any of the gods, Massacre Girl, Finale of Glory and Finale of Eternity over Nissa. By the time Nissa comes down, there's not much you're ramping into or many forests left in your deck if you do manage her ultimate. For our purposes, she's pretty comparable to Arlinn, except you lose less if they kill Arlinn's 3/3's.

The vigilance seems like the most oppressive part of her ability because unless you have a couple flyers and can kill her right away it's hard to get through the ever mounting wall of lands

Don´t forget Nissas Ult can bring all your Forests in your Deck into play. So you have a higher chance to draw what you need, especially all your lands are forestst. This also is a great combo with every creature who gets +1+1 for every forest you controll.

I just did an arena omniscience draft. Being the genious I am, I let several bombs go, because it didn’t fit my colors. I submitted the deck all happy. Then I remembered its omniscience... smh

I had an ugin and Nissa in my first pre-released online. For some reason ugin Was really good but not a complete bomb like I thought it would be. I know This is not going to happen real often but I had Nissa and ugin out At the same time taking them both up and I thought for sure I had that game but then my opponent played the elder spell with an ob nixilis out and they basically took over the game. Obviously this is a very rare thing to happen and normally those two together would definitely take over but there is a lot of removal for these cards in this says though I felt like they never lasted long. Nissa was great because I had those creatures and if they had a good blocker or something I still was able to have add that extra manner and there were many games where I took it over with land creatures. Ugin I did like making the spirit but it seemed like every time I played him I could never successfully use his minus without him being killed immediately but sometimes you just have to take out the big threat and hope they don’t have more. I definitely agree with your number one that was the one I was expecting to be there just because it is so powerful. Played against a couple Liliana‘s and she also seems to be pretty dang good if not taken care of. All of the guards I can see being really annoying because even if you have multiple removal spells you’re going to see them multiple times so you have to hope you can win before they are cast again.

I think a lot of it has to do with flavor, but yeah there are also a few things that the damage part gives him protection from.

He stays a planeswalker and damage to a planeswalker removes loyalty counters. The indestructible protects him from destroy effects. Prevent all damage preserves his loyalty.

I definately disagree with the other two gods not being on the list. The fact that it is literally impossible to permanently get rid of them is huge. Especially Kefnet, being evasive in a planeswalker-filled set is insanely good. The two gods missing are definately better than Bolas or Nissa.

You can get rid of the god creatures by countering or milling them. They only come back if they are buried or exiled from the battlefield.

Pretty sure if you check gatherer that works since it technically is no longer the object that left the battlefield meaning there is nothing for the trigger to target.

Ramos is a good superfriends commander if you want to actually cast your commander. He helps ramp and synergies with proliferate.

You could also do Sliver Queen because her tokens synergize with doubling season and parallel lives (a good include if you run token generating walkers for frontline protection) , you wont want to cast her often but with the right setup she becomes an alternate wincon that you always have in the back pocket

@@NizzahonMagic Hasn't been my experience thus far. Even if there is one dead walker in your yard (or pref your opponents) by the time you get to 6 mana, it's going to have value. At best it completely reshapes the board. Just my 2cp.

@@NizzahonMagic That isn't what I said and you know it. 6 mana to get back the best creature or walker in either yard is the floor of its utility, and (IMHO) getting even two puts this in bomb territory. I've only played in 4 sealed tournaments on Arena so far, but I've gotten this in my pool twice and has won me the game every time I've landed it.

I did not "know it." I legit misread your comment, but my point remains, most bombs don't need help to take a game over - if the fail case is getting back one walker, it isnt a bomb. I like the card, I gave it a B in my set review. But I don't think it is on the same level as cards on this list.

Oketra is complete trash dude, i can hammer that card with decks from the last set which are far less powerful, decks are so full of decent removal and or counter spells in standard it's nothing to just remove or counter Oketra 3 times and any top meta deck will have ways to find that removal or counter by 5, trash card, any card that makes you want to instantly remove it because it's there only win condition is BAD (with the exception of Teferi which can protect itself with a counter spell), because you can so easily just do that.
