Tammas Dexter it's just a casual, graveyard buff deck. For example, I tend to bestow a night howler on a creature, then languishing, and getting a huge night howler left over

Still dealing with a bit of a sinus situation, so apologies if I still sound weird. I appreciate all of the support and all of the love on a lot of our latest videos! Glad you're all still here ;) Also, this deck was marked as budget because based on the average cost of a deck in modern? This is budget.

It's like you're reading my mind Wedge, every video for the past few weeks has been on a topic I've wanted to learn more about, I was just looking into this deck the other night as a way to hop back into modern (although last I played my meta is Abzan heavy, which might not work great with this deck)
@justjoe83978 жыл бұрын
Great tech Wedge! It makes me happy to see Monastery Swiftspear getting some attention. I'm trying out a R/W prowess deck atm, a t2 Titan's Strength on a Swiftspear is fantastic, all off a single Battlefield Forge. Also got Seeker of the Way and Lighting Helix for lifegain and Boros charm for it's amazing utility. Lighting Bolt's there too but honestly has the least impact.
@TheArborphiliac7 жыл бұрын
I just beat Eldrazi Tron with this deck, thank you for the list! I'd seen Suicide Bloo builds but the mana base you use really keeps the price down and I rarely run into losses based on the life drain. After the bannings I've tried running Peek and Gut Shot in the Gitaxian Probe slot, and I'm also trying 3 Distortion Strike in the deck, maybe in place of Vapor Snag, Apostle's Blessing depending on the matchup, and a Sleight of Hand or Manamorphose.

This deck is great! I was thinking about getting into modern with Thing Ascension, but its too expensive for me right now. This is an excellent alternative for that deck, and if I have the money for it I can upgrade it as well. This is awesome! Thank you Wedge and thank you TheManaSource!!
@moebiuseight79777 жыл бұрын
You might also look at the vivid creek and vivid crag as replacements for the duals they come in untapped and can be tapped for 1 mana of any color twice as well as their normal mana base. since we are looking for a turn 4 win here that should be plenty to start the engine. this deck is gonna be hurting though if it misses a land drop. (the loss of probe really does slow down the deck by at least a turn.)

I love this deck! its a great update to my existing lower tier modern deck, izzet blitz w/nivix cyclops. To upgrade to this version I only have to buy like 16 cards, FeelsGreatMan

Other cards to consider for this deck: Stormchaser Mage: Flying with prowess for BR? Sure, I'll take it. Day's Undoing: Gives you a nice reset button for those longer, more arduous games. Probably more of a sideboard option. Delver of Secrets: Because you have so many instants and sorceries, he will flip easily. I think this deck was also known as iGrow for a while and had the inclusion of Tarmogoyf in some listings. This is honestly one of my favorite decks to play! It's so explosive and crazy, just like the izzet archetype. Nice follow up to the Izzet Philosophy video, btw. :D Thanks Wedge!

When you play the Fiend on T2 and you'll have a T3 like you say in your example, it has to be 12 DMG x 2: Manamorphose: Fiend +3 = 4/2 Mutagenic: Fiend +3 = 7/2 AND +2 = 9/2 Battle Rage: Fiend +3 = 12/2 WITH Double Strike = 24

@ErrantScholar8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'd be playing Temur Battle Rage. It's great to have Slip Through Space and the similar cards, but at the end of the day it's better to have the two effects of extra damage and evasion that Battle Rage gives.

Slip through space, has some usefulness in a prowess deck it has a low cmc, and works well with Thing and Kiln, and draws a card.

This is rather close to what I have been running now for a few months. I don't run Fiend or Growth but do run Pyromancers Attention and Become Immense with some counter magic in the side to protect my win cons. Temur Battlerage is an awesome card - it's one of the lynchpins of my pauper infect deck. ... but this strategy of throwing fast-growing creatures at opponent's faces is hilarious fun to pilot. The one addition I would offer would be Slip Through Space - it might be marginally too slow, but it's a one mana spell that triggers the prowess effects and makes the target unblockable. Then you draw a card. For budget reasons I might switch out Mutagenic Growth for Built To Smash.
@JohnQueSacc8 жыл бұрын

My version of this deck is slightly different. But it's of my own making, I did not netdeck it. I focus more on attacking and combat spells rather than playing just a ton of spells. Instead of free spells like Gitaxian Probe and Manamorphose, I have Titan's Strength to work with Temur Battle Rage, and then my way of casting spells for "free" is with Pyretic Ritual, so I can keep on playing cards to trigger prowess. Definitely thinking of putting in Mutagenic Growth though.. Also since it is easy to just chump block against this deck if there is no Temur Battle Rage, I also put in a set of Slip Through Space. It's a cheap cantrip and guarantees you will get through blockers. And then one Past in Flames if the game goes long and we need to play all our cheap spells again. I have also been experimenting with white for Lightning Helix, and to forego the Phyrexian mana on Apostle's Blessing.
@cheapskate42738 жыл бұрын
Kid you are amazing. An even more budget version with almost same results *claps*
@MasonzeroDigitalWorks8 жыл бұрын
I mean, Wedge's list is probably better than mine. I just like the spells that *do* something other than just contribute to the storm count
@Bladius_8 жыл бұрын
Apostle's blessing in this deck can sometimes just read "make target creature unblockable". You'll need that over helix to push that last attack through sometimes in a clogged board state. And life gain isn't that important to you really. "Built to smash" is also probably worth looking into either with or instead of titan's strength Since it's +3/+3 over titan's +3/+1, but I do like the scry personally. I love slip through space, used it in my UR Prowess aggro deck in Khans/Zendikar standard and it just stole games, also consider distortion strike since it pumps and you get to recast it next turn for free.

Don't forget it's cousin, the Swiftspear Rush deck, which is "mono" red and even more of a glass cannon, but can win on turn 2 if you have a god hand. Basically, you swap the blue cards and cantrips for giant strength and titanic strength, (or whatever the names of the 1 red, boost a creature +3/+something cards are) only have between two and a playset of gitax probe, playsets of desperate and pyretic rituals, and blistercoil weird instead of thing in the ice for a backup swiftspear, then a full set of the blessing for protection. I haven't run it in modern yet, but I do have that deck, and it is sooo funny how it either wrecks really quickly (usually by turn 4 if it works but is slow, but it can win turn 2, which is hilarious---ritual, ritual, buff, buff, battle rage on a swiftspear)

Just shows how powerful pauper is, this is basically my "UR Prowess" pauper deck with better lands. Then again that deck gets to play with pyroblast, ponder and preordain so it balances out. I think this deck can get hated out too easily by cards most decks are already running in modern though but as with all fast decks, you can kill them before they can get a footing with the right opener.

For anyone looking for an even more budget version of this deck I recommend this list. 4x Apostle's Blessing 4x Gut Shot 4x Lightning Bolt 4x Mutagenic Growth 4x Temur Battle Rage 4x Titan's Strength Creature (12) 4x Kiln Fiend 4x Monastery Swiftspear 4x Stormchaser Mage Sorcery (8) 4x Distortion Strike 4x Gitaxian Probe Land (16) 5x Island 7x Mountain 4x Shivan Reef It's not as good and doesn't have things like manamorphose but it does consistently win turn 3. I find that gut shot helps as for 2 life we can deal 4 damage if we have a kiln fiend on the battlefield. Distortion Strike is a weird one but for those situations where you can't quite finish them off turn 3 the rebound will definetly help you win the next turn.a Titan's Strength is great in this deck as it pumps your kiln fiends by 6 power for 1 red and allows you to scry (Which is much less useful)
