Just to be clear, we knew about the deck when Kaladesh first came out. The timing for right now is because a few months is what we needed to be sure it was going to be for real, and it is. This is THE BEST budget standard option you have, hands down, not even close.

better idea is not just visions, but splash black so you can gift Midnight Oil to them. And if you're worried about retaliation, just play defensive creatures and bounce spells. Giving never hurt so much!

By “most competitive/successful” I mean that this is the budget deck that has acquired the most high level tournament finishes and consistent Magic Online 5-0 results among any budget archetypes. There is no consistent second option that’s anywhere close. It’s actually quite impressive when you think about it.

I've been playing this deck for the last 2 months, 1 because I just recently started playing magic again and 2 this deck is awesome. I've went 10 and 4 over 3 FNM's getting 1st in one and end in one, getting mana screwed 3 of the 4 games in my 3rd FNM. I LOVE IT!

I remember that one game at my LGS's prerelease... Pummeler+ green gearhulk+6 Energy. Coz my opponent was tapped out, 1 hit win outta nowhere. With a g/u +1/+1 counter and Energy deck btw. Ah, the memories... Also, g/r is another mighty Option.Besides, I would like to see a mono green hydra edh deck tech as i'm currently thinking about building one. Would be nice. As always, keep up the great work!

I bought this deck the moment I got wind of it, Green and red are my favourite colours and i'm always on a budget. Having a deck that I am seeing great success with at FNM for the fist time is truly amazing. I never feel like I can compete with other budget decks but not with this one. I'm surprised you didn't talk more about servant of the conduit, like surprising your opponents by swinging with servant and pummeler after they send their legions after pummeler it feels so great to just pump a servant to ridiculous lengths. I say the mostly because it's how I won the last game of the day at my last FNM. Uncaged Fury + Built to smash, who knew that little thing could swing for double digits?

I've won two FNMs with this deck, even beating out BG Delerium and an Eldrazi combo deck. It's so much fun to see the look on their faces when I swing in for 40 damage on turn 5. The deck I run has 4 Cinder Glade in it as well to help fix mana. I've also taken to running some Arlinn Kord as well for the trample synergies if I go a bit late in the game. By far this is my favourite deck, even beating out Aetherworks Marvel.
@brockpoltercraft7 жыл бұрын
If you think about it a Lathnu Hellion would be a good creature to play along with a Long Tusk cub or just to deal a quick 4 damage at the first play of it. It has haste and gives 2 energy when played. Only downside is 2 energy is needed to keep it alive each turn, but it is a huge power house for cheap.
@gollz3658 жыл бұрын
I run pretty much this build but splashing blue for anticipate and a few counters in the sideboard so I can dig for my combo pieces if they dont show up. Then post board.. depending on the matchup, Board out all my pump spells (I run 11) and pummelers and turn it fully into R/G/U Marvel deck. It works surprisingly well as the core of the two decks are very similar so the marvel build still has the energy and the creature support (with those few counters i mentioned to stop them destroying or countering your marvel) and then you marvel into emrakuls.. ulamogs.. chandras.. whatever you like! In local meta the transformation is expected after one match obviously.. but taking it to a tournament or out of your own meta.. noone expects you to transform so vastly and thus boards against the pummeler combo.. only to find a totally different win condition

I've found that Woodland Wanderer is a lot of fun in this deck too. I cut 2 cubs and 2 hydras. It's almost always a 5/5 for 4 and can often be a 6/6. Also if it goes into late game pummeler in to expedite plus pump spells.

With Aether Revolt replace Longtusk Cub with Aether Chaser and replace Larger than Life with Invigorated Rampage. Aether Chaser is guaranteed energy and first strike. Invigorated Rampage still grants trample but is a +4+0 instead of a +4+4, which I find doesn't really need to have a high toughness if you are trampling over with 24 or 32 power. It is an instant, as opposed to a sorcery, and gives the option of splitting the +4 +0 to one creature OR +2+0 and trample to two creatures.

2 cards that are missing that are huge with this deck are architect of the untamed(especially if you remove game trail for evolving wilds) and magmatic chasm which then forces your opponent to more carefully choose blockers and also makes it almost impossible for them to be able to multiblock being as most players dont run a ton of flying.

i've been running this deck since kaledesh's release. It's SUPER strong. But i run a different list. I foudn built to smash to be a dead card to often UNLESS i had pummler. HEck, i found i end up with to much pump and not enough creatures. My MVP, has been the double nissa vital force. NO ONE sees them coming, and they just close games out. I have NEVER been unhappy to draw one of these. And i found my win rate goes up if i don't get the "combo" but drew a nissa.

@GabrielPapitoOliveira8 жыл бұрын
WB Tokens/Fabricate is not exactly budget on the brew I'm playing, because of Gideon, Courtyard and Abbey (I recently added one copy of the Mini Van since I took it out in a booster, but was running it succesfully without it), but it's really fast and crazy. People are not ready for Abbey flipping turn 6 consistently and are not ready for consistent comebacks after mass turn 3 removals ( kozi's and radiant flames). I'll post the list I'm playing here later.
@RaysRandomWorld8 жыл бұрын
I run x2Arlinn in the side board. Good verses any control, works as either 4 mana create a 2/2 dude or an extra +2/+2 buff that can win you the game. more importantly people don't expect it. instead of uncaged fury I'm using Architect of the untamed basically as a second win con. No one likes a free 6/6 flash.
@zanzaklaus24968 жыл бұрын
If we're taking budget, you need to do a video on Penny Dreadful, the mtgo format where after every standard set all the cards costing .01 tix are enabled and all other cards are banned. It's basically jank builder's paradise and the format's self regulating meaning it's cards will always be cheap.
@Jonasz3148 жыл бұрын
A ton of fun to play, but it can get out of the gate realllly slowly on a bad draw. Don't hesiste to mulligan if you don't have key cards in your hand. GW Energy was played at Pro Tour Kaladesh and did not do much. Against Aetherworks Marvel which drops Emrakul T4/5, it's an incredibly tough matchup. Other creature decks are much more manageable.

Wedge, I built the Mono-green version of this that the Prof' put up when Kaladesh was dropping, and while I like what you're adding with this, I think the only interesting add would be to not even spash white into the sideboard with Consulate Surveillance, it's 4 energy for a 4cc, and if used right acts as a back up stop a win from happening button for two.... I've got two in Sideboard for the mono-green version and it's great for my casual matches against Cheerios. Just a thought, interested in how you would turn this Naya if given a chance....
@BrittishAnger8 жыл бұрын
and I say "not even splash white" because you don't need the lands if you have the fixers in Aetherhub and the Energy ramp elf you mentioned in the video, since it isn't a double white spell, and it's four, it does the trick....

Not quite. In Frontier you've got to assume that they have more removal at their disposal than usual. Plus, the lack of attune turn one decreases the overall energy gains. sure you get him a turn early, but you spent all your mana doing so and then they just decide to molten vortex ability and shock him at your end step. or worse, declaration in stone him. Playing the long game works out better for the build.
