I like the deck. I would personally include Forgotten Creation(bet you forgot about that card). It's a creature that basically uses chandra's 0 ability each upkeep and comes down 2 turns earlier.

+TheWonderdoc I have actually been testing Standard Tutelage in SOI for a couple of days so far and have figured out that even having one Tutelage with even just 2 forgotten creations is just ridiculous, four of hands down. With my deck list you can win turn 6 or 7 pretty consistently if you know how the deck works. I have the deck on TappedOut.net and my username is TheyCallMeGhoul if you want to find the deck list.

This is a great mechanic for a deck so great that I have my mono blue commander deck based off Sphinx's Tutelage. In addition to a few other cards you mentioned. I also run Dictate of Kruphix, and Well of Ideas for my other enchantments to stop speed up the mill each turn. Tramatize is a must for an early lead and with Mystical Tutor to help bring it to to the top of your library, why not? lol For Artifacts I run Teferi's Puzzle Box. It just is a mind freak to your opponent and speeds up the milling even more. I also added, just in case they play from their graveyard, Tormod's Crypt. Easy to play with having no mana cost and helps make sure they can't pull any fast ones by bringing out a strong creature they were forced to discard for less lol.

If you add Thing in the Ice and Fevered Visions you have damage as an alternate win con without diluting the main mill engine.

I have a modern deck similar to this one. Holy butts, do not underestimate Sphinxes Tutelage! I have won countless games with said card. Just last week I was done to 1 life and milled out my opponent who was at 40. So great, especially when they stack on each other. Nice deck tech! I decided to pick up a Chandra Flamecaller for my deck because of this video. Thanks guys!

adding black to get access to Languish, Radiant Flames, and Ob Nixilis seems worth it. Also Blighted Cataract. I am also really drawn to some of the Surge cards such as Grip of the Roil and Jori En, Ruin Diver.

A few "budget" options here for the walkers: forgotten creation is nuts with tutelage in play, manic scribe is great once you get delirium oine, startled awake because milling 13 cards is great, and being able to get it back from the graveyard is fantastic.

My sweetheart is playing a very similar deck. He's running a list closer to UR Goggles; Fall of the Titans (Instead of Kozilek's return and because Surge is pretty powerful, epecially with Goggles), two-of Pyromancer's Goggles in the mainboard, one-of Jori En for a little more draw power. Sideboard includes Thing in the Ice as an alternate win-con, Send to Sleep and a few Just the Wind for that sweet Madness ability.

if you want a bit of budget for modern, you could use Memory adept instead of Vryn's Prodigy as the +1 is mill 1 cantrip, which will trigger tutelage, and the 0 just mills 10.

I had biult one, but jeskay so i could run narset, declaration in stone, nahiri and planar outburst, both planiswalkers also trigger tutelage and work well with the spells in the deck, Nahiri also removes enchantments (Boros exiling enchantments??), and declaration in stone is one of the best removals ever madee. It's hard to justify NOT running white in current standard...

Why not startled awake in the main board? It Mills 13 and you can bounce it back from the graveyard.

I run something very similar to this. The only difference is that I don't run 4 of JVP, due to the high cost. Instead, I run 4 of Jace, Unraveler of Secrets. I also run 4 of Fevered Visions in my mainboard, and my only mainboard creatures are 4 of Forgotten Creation. Turn 4 Chandra, Flamecaller deck filter? With Tutelage on the field? _Nasty_! I also replaced Oath of Jace with Catalog due to the ability to cast it on my opponent's upkeep. I also run 4 of Negate to slow down company decks.

I would add reckless cohort and mad prohets to this deck to speed up draw and mil. Then add place sets of just the wind and fiery tempers for madness. And one welcome to the fold just to steal a creature for blockage

There is this pauper deck called what's yours is mine where you use spells like act of treason to gain control of their creatures then use cards like bone splinters or altars reap to sac it, then use something that gets bigger when creatures die or a lot of tokens

Use Pyromancer ' goggles to draw more and do more damage. Use Forgotten Creation for draw. Use a couple of Startled awake for faster mill. Some cards if you don't have Jace. You could use Talent of the telepath for burn and removal decks. Very close to my deck.

I've been messing around with a version of this. I have 1-2 days undoing because with one tutelage that's a mill 14 minimum with hand refill. I don't know if it works because I'm playing casual and my deck has ghostly prison and propaganda.

Days Undoing Kinda shuffles your Opponents Graveyard into their deck... Which Kinda makes a MILL deck lose

+Tappingplayer true, I've had good moves with it, usually when I have a grip of a couple of lands and 1-2 tutelage out which add up quickly. Because they draw 7 you draw 7 then they mill anywhere between 14-28 cards that's near half their deck. That's why I consider it a 1 or 2 of.

My modern sphinx tutelage homebrew relies mostly on creating a defence no one wants to attack and millling from behind my battlements. I use hover barrier, sphinx of magosi (because why tf not) and a bunch of card draw accelerant permanents. the Deck grinds and just won't go away and then I play a windreader sphinx with two tutelages and a jace erasure out and swing with my faerie miscreants, phantasms, magosi's etc. I wish i could put a playset of consecrated sphinx in there because getting to six mana consistently and naturally is this deck's secret weapon. often i will be below ten life when the deck kicks into high gear and then will win with barely a life left and have to do some creative chump blocking but with the addition of kraken's eye and staff of the mind magus that problem has vastly reduced. thought reflection, mind unbound, magosi, miscreant, blighted cataract, the jace's (two memory adept, one vryn's prodigy and one unraveller of secrets) all provide my win con and if things get too hairy i can boost up my magosi peeps and swing for lethal. still milling all the way. i kill and mill simultaneously in multiplayer on a regular basis with this deck.

Spash black for Grixis tutelage instead. Since Grixis colours share an ally in black the mana base is still pretty good and you get access to great sweepers like Languish, Virulent plague and radiant flames which absolutely hoses the "go wide" meta we find ourselves in and also gives us access to painful truths which you get to keep your cards from at the cost of life. As for creature sideboard tech, while Thing in the Ice is obviously good, a hidden gem might be Forgotten creation which on your upkeep you get to cycle through your entire hand, but importantly just like Chandra, those count as draw triggers. It doesn't normally see play as three toughness is awkward with so much deal three damage removal but like Wedge says game 2 they will have almost certainly sided that out. Finally if you made it down this far in my comment I hope you don't mind janky combos. Instead of fiery temper, run geistblast and try to make room in your deck for persistent nightmare. Mill 26 cards for 7 mana (pn's casting cost + geistblast copy) sounds like a lot of what we want to be doing and 26 lands will get you there. Is this janky and dumb, yes, but the value of pulling it off and seeing your opponents face is hopefully the payoff for a slightly worse build overall. Love the channel Wedge.

Oh and black mana also gives you access to planeswalker removal (silumgar's command, ruinous path) and hand hate (duress, transgress the mind) which is very important to stop enchantment hate which obviously hoses us.

+OodustwindoO I've been using Manic Scribe instead of Jace in this deck and I actually like it better. It provides more reliable mill since delerium is pretty easy to enable with all your discard outlets. And if you really need that spell recursion on his flip side, try working Giestblast and Pyromancer's Gogglers into your burn package.

Ugh, this deck is right up my alley, but I am flat out not dropping $360 for a playset of Jaces, especially considering his inevitable rotation in the fall. I'm sure I can scrape a budget version of this deck together using some workarounds, but holy crap do I hate Vrynn's Prodigy. U/R spells is my favorite archetype in the format right now and it sucks getting slammed because I was on break during Origins and can't afford to drop that much on a playset of one card.

I am constructing a blue/white Geistmill deck for the next GameDay, the idea is to generate clues from Bygone Bishops and draw cards with them, enjoying combo with Fleeting Memories and Sphinx's Tutelage. I still need to add a lot of cards, but it is WAY cheaper than this deck :p The card list I was thinking about is: Lands (20, as all my spells are below or equal to 3 mana): 4x Evolving Wilds 4x Port Town 6x Plains 6x Islands Creatures (20): 4x Topplegeist 4x Spectral Shepherd 4x Rattlechains 4x Bygone Bishop 4x Erdwal Illuminator Enchantments (12): 4x Vessel of Paramnesia 4x Sphinx's Tutelage 4x Fleeting Memories Sorceries (4): 4x Not Forgotten Instants (4): 2x Eerie Interlude 2x Essence Flux Except for the Port Town, the deck is super cheap (and if you have Meandering Rivers, just put those in instead of Port Towns).
