daredeviler there was. He had a Finale of Revelation which would allow him to shuffle his hand and grave into the deck, allowing him to live, probably not for long since he hard over extended with the Ancients, but nonetheless, entertaining, and this is why I watch

Mirari's Wake brings me back to the Tier 0 deck I made based on it back during Judgement. They printed a creature cycle of phantoms that had a mechanic that was fundamentally broken when combined with anthem effects (in that deck it was Mirari's Wake and Coat of Arms). These creatures read "If damage would be dealt to Phantom XXXXX, prevent that damage. Remove a +1/+1 counter from Phantom XXXXX," so you could use anthems and flat buffs to make them completely immune to damage. WOTC only realized their mistake after the fact and that phantoms could be buffed with non-counter effects and they would keep neutralizing all damage, even when out of counters. This was before there was easy access to exile removal and wrath effects were far less common, so the deck could just stack up a virtually unkillable board that would gradually overwhelm the opponent. After the debacle that was Judgement, WOTC fixed this mechanic for future sets to read "If damage would be dealt to XXXXX while it has a +1/+1 counter on it, prevent that damage and remove a +1/+1 counter from XXXXX" so that it wouldn't break the game again.
