Knowing your homocysteine levels is essential before starting to fix methylation.
Homocysteine levels should be approximately 7umol/L.
In this video I discuss the reasons for high homocysteine and the reasons for low homocysteine.

Fantastic info! You are the first resources I have found that actually understands this stuff. I recently learned I have the MTHFR C677T homozygous mutation. But, I also feel as though I tend to have high inflammation. So, now I know to get my homosistine levels (and maybe methalfolate, B6 and Choline levels...I'll look into wether that is helpful and doable) checked before taking action. Other doctors just say take this or eat that. They don't seem to understand the complexities that you understand. I also saw in a comment that you see patients globally. I will hang onto that info too. Thanks!

Hello Joanne! Thank you so much for this video.... I was wondering if you could help me see what I should do.. I am a 32 year old woman. Homozygous MTHFR, a lot of gut issues (strongly feel it might be Sibo), skin issues (acne), long history of health issues. Right now I am having to start B12 supplementation for low B12 (also I am fut2 non secretor meaning I can’t use all of the B12 in my blood?) and I have high homocysteine (43.6 umol/l). I think this correlates with what you are saying... My need for eating a lot of folate, B12 supplementation and then hopefully B12 will go up, and homocystein down? I have to avoid gluten and dairy and too much sugar, and that helps my gut usually as well. If I don’t (like the last week) it gets bad fast. I hope you can shine a light on this for me! I am terrified of B12 because it gives me horrible cystic acne, but I understand health comes first. Thank you and greetings from Europe! 🌼

Great info! But where do I go from there? I don’t know what my homocysteine level is but I have SIbo, dysbiosis, Lyme, MTHFR. I do not respond well to methylated b vitamins and majority of supplements that are pathogen killing. My suspicion is inability to detox. Not a single doc was able to help me get my health on track and the ones I saw are well known and highly regarded.

So please suggest how to help treat low homocysteine? I’m reading conflicting info stating too much b vitamins can drive homoscyteine down? So is taking B6 recommended for Low HMCYN? Then I hear about b6 toxicity. So complicated

Thank you for your video. What would happen if someone with MTHFR mutations supplemented with high levels of methyfolate, b12 and b6. Could that possibly use up too much homocysteine and make them low?

Please can you give me some tips to help me to raise my homocystein levels. Ive tried SAMe supplements and my body respond very good. Im not on SAMe now. Kind regards from sweden

Having low homocysteine is not a good thing at all. It means that you have a lot of inflammation and oxidative stress that needs to be treated. I see patients globally via Zoom. If you would like to make an appointment you can do so via my online booking system on my website. www.joannekennedy.com.au

@@JoanneKennedy Do you see any relation with Homocysteine and high ferritin levels?
@JoanneKennedy

@@toneman8478 Yes. If your homocysteine is low this can be due to gut inflammation which reduces iron absorption

I'm homozygous mthfr and homozygous comt so i need more methylfolate but too much methyl and It effects comt anxiety ect. You could try b12(adenosylcobalamin) and b9 as (folinic acid) not folic or methyl.
@RG-yz8ov

Also tmg brings down reduces homocysteine. If going methylfolate then try lower 400 micrograms every 2nd day 🤷‍♂️

Do not buy multi B. He needs methyl-B12, methyl-Folate, and B6 (P5P). These are special highly absorbable forms. As far as doses you have to look them up.

Methyl donors so tmg would also help. Yarro do a b-right supplement where multi b are in there basic forms many others do too. If he has mthfr snips then there is also facebook groups you can join that have some info.
