Thanks for the anatomy lesson. I just bought a ford 101 for the family farm. It has a broken shin. I also had to grind the draw bar to make it fit the kubota three point. I’m excited to give it a go on a pumpkin patch.

I just picked up the same as this one. Love it. Cuts deep and pulls strait.

Looking at a 2 bottom plow tomorrow. $425 for an old Oliver 3240. Thanks for sharing what to look for. If this doesn’t work out, I located a couple more brands in my area.

I think everyone has there own way of things . I like my tiller hit it twice and done . I thank you can add microbes back in the soil with compost tea .

Yes I don't think there is wrong or right in tillage as long as the soil is not damaged. It all depends on what the soil you're farming responds to. Thanks for watching

A tiller will not get down deep enough past hard pan. That is the purpose of using a ripper or a bottom plow to break that hard pan and allow water to travel deeper into the soil 4 better root establishment.

I have a 2 disc plow, have you ever used one? it will cut roots and rocks. not many videos about them. was just wondering.

My thought is to plow then run tiller over it since I don’t have a disc. Any thoughts on that idea?

I seen that done and it seems to work pretty good depending on soil type

I do that every year, I will say this, It does work, but can be hard on the tiller sometimes. especially if you happen to get into wet or loamy soil that is hard to dry. but again it does work. I have also Moldboard Plow then 9 shank rip then till. extra step but seems to be easier on the tiller.

New subscriber. I'll be getting a blue set of these plows soon, are the wear parts available new still?
@Mtnfarmer

Yes they're a little harder to find now than they used to be

Is it possible to adjust the depth on this type of plow, like a tiller, or does it have to be at a specific or minimum depth to work? I ask because I'd like to get a single or double but I have relatively shallow top soil before I hit clay or even shale. Perhaps they make these with smaller moldboards to address my issue? Thanks.

The are designed to run half the depth of the width. For example 14" plows should plow 7" deep

I inherited a set of these And they have been sitting for decades. I see yours are red. Were they originally red or Ford blue?

Shouldn’t that plow be setting up on wood or something so it isn’t sinking into the dirt
