Interviews like these are why it’s so important that MTV starts interviewing celebrities again. We’re all grateful to have this footage but sadly 20 years from now we won’t have anything to commemorate anyone who is currently at their prime. We still have short interviews but nothing as profound as what MTV used to do when they would follow someone and show their entire day. I agree! I'm a 97 baby but I grew up on so much Aaliyah's music! The fact that she achieved so much in her 7 year career says a lot about her hardwork and dedication! All of her albums went multi platinum! She was only 15 or 16 when Stevie Wonder wanted to met her which he did. The legendary Whitney Houston complimented her voice and was going to work with her in the movie Sparkle but Aaliyah passed away. The audition track "Giving Up" was for the film. Whitney delayed the movie for years because of that unexpected tragedy. Janet Jackson wanted to collaborate with her as well. Not to mention the fact that Whitney and Janet is the most successful black female artists of the 90s! The Isley Bros gave her both of their tracks. At Your Best and Choosey Lover! Her swag, beauty, artistry, and magnificence will always be missed and was honored while she was here! She will always be my Number 1. Long live and prosper Babygirl 💜💜💜💜💜

Yes I think her death really taught me about the reality that anyone can die at anytime. That was traumatizing. I can still remember turning on the tv after my friend told me on the phone and praying she was wrong. I prayed for days they made a mistake

I agree her death signalled the true death of the 90s. Times have never been the same. RIP Aaliyah ❤️🕊

Wow you worded this perfectly. I was 16 at the time & yes it very much seems that the innocence of the times truly did die with her because our world changed forever after this & a little over 2 wks later, 9/11. Nothing quite like the feeling of the 90s, 2000 walking into a record store and being excited about an album or even buying a single! In my head I’m eternally 15 because I was so traumatized by 2001. 😭 Anyway you are so lucky to have met her & to have made her laugh?? That’s awesome!! I wonder how many ppl can say that! Blessings to you ♥️

The great thing is that Aaliyah lived life too the fullest and she was grateful for what she had. It would have been great to watch her grow old, but her work here was complete (even though it seems like it wasn't) and her soul was required elsewhere.

Her death TRAUMATIZED me as a child, and now that I’m 28 going on 29. Seeing her reaction to that young girl wanted to say that she was beautiful left a slight emotional expression on baby girl @9:52 and it lowkey had me tearing up too, when she was describing the little girl. Awwww… I’m still reeling from the affects from her death 20 years later. She was my first crush. In the year 2000 my parents bought me “Now That’s What I Call Music Vol. 4”, just for her hit song from Romeo Must Die film “Try Again!” R.I.P. baby girl. 😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️😢😢😢😢😇😇😇😇😇

20 years have passed and it's surreal. I was 2 when Aaliyah passed but now being 22 years old, she did what she wanted to do and has accomplished so much at the age of 22 but she had so much more to offer. Her beauty, talent, and artistry inspired a new generation. Rest in paradise, Aaliyah, you are forever loved and missed.
