This young man is one of Master Sken`s greatest representatives and highest Instructors in the art of Muay Thai. Boxing or Muay-Thai show respect. 99.9% of the posters here could not live for 10 seconds in or outside the ring with Kru Paul!! ;)

this was probably one of the best tutorials i've seen yet.....problem is that its hard to find a training partner...quite difficult to do this with a new person each time....some people hold pads differently and the vibe rhythm is off with each new-person--and worse yet.. some people don't even show up meanwhile i'm there almost everyday.....i'm installing a heavy bag in my apartment, any ideas for things that I can do alone?
@warriorcollective9 жыл бұрын
+Jeff - Mci Hey, glad you enjoyed the tutorial. It really is an excellent one from Paul. This kind of work would be difficult to replicate as you see it here on a heavy bag, the whole point is to chain combinations with speed on the pads. I would suggest checking out some of the other videos (how to develop devastating knees by Master A) on this channel to get some stuff to work on the bag. The other option is to write down all the combinations from this video and then break them up into very small chunks. Work them progressively i.e. one technique at a time and you will find that even relatively inexperienced pad holders will eventually find the flow to at least get parts of it working for you in training. I hope this helps, let me know how you get on!
@bucktip9 жыл бұрын
+Stuart Tomlinson Thanks for the reply--much appreciated. i've been working on your advise and it has been working out fairly well, thanks again.-----however I have another question.--I think that sparring with advanced fighters is key to getting better..however when the camp doesn't allow knees during sparring...how can one learn proper rhythme for Muay-thai??.... not to toot my own horn.. , but i’m one of the advanced students there and have great rhythm and technique, however..it was AMAZING how off-balanced i was when knees were involved ( I sparred with a new guy who showed up one day)..….and it thew my whole game off course… which i loved because it gave me something else that was challenging to get better at…unfortunately , that student ( who has years of experience) is now gone, so i’m pretty much stuck..-..i love the camp im at and dont want to leave,---any advise?

Hi thanks for the video. I like rolling it is very effective. However some people say it is not safe to roll and slip in Muay Thai. What is your opinion ?
@warriorcollective9 жыл бұрын
UNCLEBOB It is essentially a case of horses for courses. Rolling against punches is a solid and effective defensive option. If however you overuse it when fighting in Muay Thai, you are at risk of eating a knee as your opponent begins to see the patten in your head movement. Paul is a great example of an elite Nak Muay who uses it effectively through timing without it being a weakness!

I trained MT for 18 year so find a lot of these tutorial videos a bit pointless. They're not bad, or wrong, just a bit meh. This entire series of tutorials though, from paul, really do give you something to think about. Or maybe it's his enthusiasm, either way, it inspires me to hot stuff again. Stuart Tomlinson Hello and good day. Just wanted to ask a question. How do you seamlessly apply these drills and techniques in actual fighting or sparring? I'm currently training Muay Thai, few months in but I'm having trouble advancing and applying techniques and drills that I learned into sparring. Would be happy to hear your thoughts and advise. Thanks.
@warriorcollective9 жыл бұрын
Saiful Yamin With regards to this particular video, it is not really aimed at a direct application straight into sparring. The pad work combinations are designed to create flow, synaptic responses and set pieces to transfer into your sparring but they need to be seen in a slightly different light in order to make them 'work'. You have to realise that pad work should be utilised in order to put the fighter through different scenarios, ranges and situations in sparring. Attacking, defending, countering, movement and footwork are being worked through all the time. I would suggest breaking these drills down further and isolating them as simple give and take drills into sparring before working them with increased resistance and non compliance. This video has a huge amount of things going on, that is what makes it great of course, but also what you must realise, is the culmination of a long time training. I hope this helps, please let me know what you think and how you get on!

He has had a fight or two since his big injury from facing Keith last year but is not currently as active on the competition scene. I know that he has been concentrating on coaching recently with lots of his fighters taking part in bouts all across the UK. I am sure we have not seen the last of him in the ring as of yet though!

The problem with this is finding a pad holder to work with. The average person at class is going to mess it up as many people are inexperienced and people hold differently from person to person. This is why you PAY for privates with the coach. If your are serious, you should be already, or at least on a “program” that he/she works with you regularly to develop this kind of padwork.

@warriorcollective9 жыл бұрын
Christophe Clugston Sometimes coaches and instructors utilise repetition and choreography to build the necessary skills needed to react with great technique and effectiveness! Glad you enjoyed watching!
@christopheclugston9 жыл бұрын
You have empirical evidence to support your assertion? In contrast, the Cubans and Soviets who structured their programs (in the past) on empirical results didn't use what was shown here.
@warriorcollective9 жыл бұрын
Christophe Clugston I think it would be hard to say that the development of any fighter does not start with some element of choreographed repetition. Surely talent is just the repeated drilling of particular skills until they are internalised and thus then of use in a more free flowing way. I would agree that it is fundamental that fighters and martial artists should also utilise systems that are more random/chaotic to ensure ownership of the aforementioned skill set and that is not just reliant on memory/sequencing. I am not saying that either is better, just that there is a place for both!
@christopheclugston9 жыл бұрын
Combinations are not choreography. Trying to apply a pattern is a mistake in unarmed or armed. It sells because you can get people to do something about doing something but it's not reality. reaction drills are far more important.
