I love muay Thai because it really is the brawlers style. Boxing/ kick boxing is very technical and very finesse oriented. Which if it's a kick boxer vs kick boxer then it works. But when you put a technical style against free flowing brawler style then the brawler is most likely gonna win.

Muay thai is like the father of all modern kickboxing today and its officially the strongest stand up style. How was this even fair to put a kickboxing against a Muay thai? I have no idea.

Yeah I had an argument with someone recently cause they said kick boxing was just a dummy version of Muay Thai and while I acknowledged that it was a better fighting style the techniques and kicks require difference stances and comparing the two shouldn’t be fair as when you really look into they are very different(I’ve never practiced Muay Thai myself as I don’t have the drive to make my 8 limbs hard so I went with kick boxing to learn how to deliver more power at the cost of more stamina) first thing they told me in kickboxing class was that if I ever did Muay Thai I would need to somewhat ignore my kickboxing trading.

Funny we had a kickboxer switching to our muay thai gym and he did similar moves with throwing the guard away while kicking or moving with the head rapidly before attacking with the same 1-2 combo all over again. Was pretty funny to fight him cause due to his predictability you could start crazy moves you normaly couldnt throw into normal sparring 😅

Maybe Not crazy for you but i startet to throw some Kind of Spinning heel kick were i jumped in to a Forward roll( i think its called rolling thunder or rolling Tiger or so) try to swing Superman punches and so. Just stuff we normaly dont practice and therefore Not really use in Sparring

I would say kickboxing, because muay thai stance just invite the easy for takedown. Unless muay thai guy learn the Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu then it ok. But if you not ready for ground fight then kickboxing is the only option if you want stand up fight. But to be honest if you want to be better at street fight MMA is no 1 option.

An unpopular opinion? It is not the art and the fighter we consider that is or who is better. (I am a fan of them all Muay Thai, Kyokushin, Boxing, BJJ) but better If we observe the overall environment and fighter population & quality.. Many Nak Muay's start from young age training, and with match records over 100-200 matches fighting against yet a another competitive Nak Muay. This what makes an overall cumulative competitiveness in the art. One Art's champion is a champion to theirs, yes indeed. But what if faced under same rules with similar art? Who is better? What prevails is background experience, and overall training/upbringing what makes the better Fighter.. It is not the the art but the fighter. But in this case, and the usual it is Muay Thai.. What ifs Population What if Muay Thai only had a monk population of fighters to compete with each other? And the latter Kick boxing had a higher fighter base. Quality Quality fighters like Muay Thai And Boxing is sometimes or more often due to poverty.. That muay thai kid with a golden heart from the poor city might be your next champion of the decade. Manny Pacquiao anyone? Anyways, all arts are good! Get the program at your local gym!
