This discourse in the comment section could be so useful to all without the insults. For some commenters just one point. These gentlemen put themselves out there and offered a peek at their art to everyone for free. Why would anyone feel the need to show any form of disrespect? A reasoned discourse would be fine but this makes us all look bad and dumbs down the conversation. Like a true martial artist, take what you find to be useful and don't utilize what you don't. If you can offer something helpful, do it with respect..... like you probably do at your training facility. Let's see more intelligent discussion and less childish insults. If you can improve upon what is being shown, get your camera out instead of your computer keyboard. Stay Classy fellas and big respect to the guys who put this up and the people who add to the conversation intelligently.

They cannot understand how two fighters of different disciplines can come together and have a healthy and very productive dialog about what each system offers and what can be improved upon by picking up techniques from the other system. This is something that they fear. A positive, peaceful collaboration between systems and black men. The neigh-Sayers can say what they will but we see in the video how effective a combination of 52 Blocks and Muay-Thai could be. Respect to both of these good men and what they are trying to show the world.

I really feel that the strongest starting point on the feet is developing your boxing. And then add 52 and Muay Thai, and to really spice things up for street fighting, throw in Jeet Kune Do, Kali (especially for the weapons), and Savate. I think that these arts were made to eventually find each other and flow! Great videos!

all the haters annoy this Shaolin guy. You don't understand shit... no style has it all. For example, both the kicks and the punches to body can be neutralized with distance, angle changes, mixed timing, and ironbody (just eat the hit to get a headshot). That's not the point. They aren't comparing who's more badass. Their comparing structure and analyzing holes. Thanks for the vid. People are so disrespectful, damn.

ALL MARTIAL ARTS MUST EVOLVE! Every good knowledgeable fighter understands stands this fact. A fighting art can’t survive if it doesn’t adapt and grow. There’s always somebody out there creating something new and better, that’s the reason there are so many different types of martial arts in the world because there is a natural need for humans to always want to do and be better. Martial arts should be treated just like technology, it’s always improving getting better... evolving. Appreciate the video bruh. Keep rocking those knots with the 52Blocks

Im a army veteran but grew up in a urban area (Hood). But what people really fail to realize is when you're in a martial art or self defense system. You get what you put in.. So if you dont train or don't work on your art or craft then you're going to get weak results. You cant cheat yourself because one day your health or life will depend on it. I would love to learn 52 Blocks in Columbia S.C. so I can bridge the gap as the were showing in the video with Krav Maga and Shotokan Karate. Definitely would be great to add in

No teeps? I would have loved to see how 52 counters teeps. For those who don’t know. Teeps can be used offensively or defensively. It’s equivalent to a jab except you’re using your feet. It a whip like motion to establish range. Boxers are dangerous up close because they have many angles. The teeps keeps them back.

52blocksinfo . Do you do any body conditioning? A good part of Thai boxing is body conditioning. Training your body to be able to take punishment. Sometimes you can’t dodge or hide from shots just gots to grit your teeth and defend! Also clinching, you have any scenarios to grab your opponent and take him down?

I noticed that when Nak was throwing his kicks, LB was staying in the arc of the kick. The first kick is avoided @ 1:01 and the second kick connects @ 1:04 not so much because your in kicking range but because your're in that arc. The head kick @ 1:10 do you think you could have bobbed underneath if you recognized it sooner?? Also, the closed door block works wells there. I use a angle sidestep/ quarter turn technique to get out the of the arc of the kick against strong MT fighters

Great vid.Coincidently we were discussing this in training last night fighting off the traditional thai "marching" type footwork rhythm let the opponent get used to that then switch to a cakewalk style of moving,to throw off their timing.also how the bicycle step is similar to the switch kick set up ,so they dont know if you are going to kick off it ,step off and change punches.

or the little draw back with the lead foot then drive back in to throw the right kick that some thai fighters do using that a few times then telegraphing it to draw them into a counter and push off it to angle off and punch,also you have to be careful with the slipping to much off to the side and level changing can get you clinched and kneed.lots more when you start analysing the timing and movement of the two styles LGD

ur absolutely correct it would give 52 B's added practical arsenal and round it out more for sure. Yet, this video is exactly how so many of the traditional arts evolved from multiple arts that had various methods of both training and applications. they combined them to make a new martial art. BRUCE WAS HARDLY the 1st. to do this as widely/falsely touted. This was done far before bruces time. fact as long as folks do this we can find new solutions and different methods that suit us where as others may not be practical for us personally to use. many ways to skin a cat. if your way works it;s best for you and if you test it against others of similar skill level we find out the pros and cons of or respective arts . when can then make adjustments as has been done in MA since forever.

Bruce didn't introduce mix martial arts. Every martial art was already a mix martial art. All evolved from different confrontations. That's why martial art is a living art. The 52 blocks is an American version (I feel still in it's infant stage) of the Filipino dirty boxing Panantukan. The 52 blocks has potential to grow
@CottonBoxer

all u said is true but i said it and u repeated the same in your own way.no comparison between dirty boxing because of all the methods that are used on the regular in dirty boxing. so though 52 is still in a stage of evolvement it's not fair to say it's a young dirty boxing because they are simply not close enough to each other in so many ways as u should know imho. sure everything has the potential to grow and that is why this video and what they were doing is important and must continue as i already stated. peace

handling kicks is a real problem for boxers but can be negated to half strength by stepping into the kick at a crucial point of the kickers release and stepping into it with a jab whether you hit them or not will cause the kicker to pause for a sec and in martial arts that second will gain you the momentum you need to survive that situation. easier said than done but like anything it takes lots of patience and practice

Kicks are always dangerous for arts that mostly use fists, ie boxing. But kicks also leave openings to those who are ready. The question is not what style is better, but how to adapt your style to handle areas of "concerns" that another style might bring. How would a wrestler deal with Muy Thai? How would a boxer deal with a wrestler? Think of answers and you have started your journey.

Secondly, i noticed when you changed the level of attack that you were able to throw body shot with ease but what happens if he starts throwing elbows when you go to that level? For training that I've done as soon as someone drops for body shots I throw out a "tomahawk elbow" ontop of their head. Dont know if youve got a defence against that or not, just found 52 tonight. if you dont might be something you guys would like to incorporate or strategise against. btw so far im loving the videos you guys have!

With my understanding of 52 blocks is that it's a defense system that can be added to mainly strikes of the hands and elbows but also can be useful to get kicks and grappling in too. In 52BLKS also, people must understand it's about deceiving the eyes and with that understanding you can make 52BLKS useful in any Martial Art.

Punching is a very big part of Muay Thai also because they set up the heavier strikes. If you can not change the level of punching, it is not the Muay Thai art, it is the person that does not know how to punch.
@andrewferris1903
@andrewferris1903 6 жыл бұрын
No, they’re not, traditional Muay Thai never even used punch techniques and the scoring system in modern Muay Thai doesn’t favor them. You’ll only see punching heavily incorporated into European styles of “Muay Thai” in K1 which forbids elbow strikes. LB’s 52 is too tied to conventional boxing compared to Diallo Frazier’s 52 or more refined combat systems like Panantukan, the system was never designed to be used with gloves and it’s purpose was to exploit bare hands with a defensive system and then counter with elbows at close quarters so they couldn’t do the same thing to you. This is why you see so much variation on the style between the prison and the street, in the prison there was more Kung Fu influence because people didn’t have the space to box. The premise that 52 is a purely defensive art that can be adapted to any offense is inherently wrong, because no one even considered checking kicks in prison. You can call what you’re doing 52, but the reality is the current application of the art on the street is far removed from the jailhouse rock of the 70s and at some point you will begin to see the techniques thru’ the styles as a martial artist.

Here's the thing I'm NOT seeing in this video but it's being talked about a little. The synergy between boxing and muay thai is incredible and it's a matter of just being comfortable and understanding how closely related the systems are. I'm practiced in both (boxing traditionally and self-taught muay thai) and I can tell you that the movement, the foot work, the shots and timing all work damn near identically plus you get knees and elbows to work the shortest possible ranges; using those specific tools with a boxer's finesse at that range can be devastating to an opponent. Also if a pure boxer comes in at me and tries to go low, he's catching knees everytime.
@52blocksinfo
@52blocksinfo 6 жыл бұрын
SALUTE,like the comment but one question I always have is why do you think you can knee a boxer when he is ducking?
@mr.serious3709
@mr.serious3709 6 жыл бұрын
52blocksinfo good point, let me explain. Depending on the HEIGHT of the duck, the boxer will either catch a knee or a low kick to the thigh/knee area. Not all ducks and feints are exactly uniform so the response to them won't be either. I spoke too generally about the particular situation, I hope this elaboration cleared things up.

Every ART has a weakness someplace in its structure. Especially when the practitioner is lacking knowledge of what his or her own weaknesses are. Moreover = According to how the limbs are generally used when punching everytime one punch is thrown in close quarters a line is open for a counter. However in order to pull it off you must be knowledgeably keen enough as it relates to the action at hand with the understanding of timing an opponent's move upon bridging the gap. This is an ART witin itself and takes years to masters. Now In respect to kicking which is a low base and more powerful selective energetic means of exertion than the hands no matter if you're on the defense or the offense as the aggressor the chances of being telegraphic is likely to occur because the leg tool is a larger object when unleashed depending on how it's used and the range from which it is launched. This is exactly why FOOT WORK is essential and should be thoroughly included in your way of training. When FOOT WORK in any fighting Art is well developed and has reached an advanced stage through frequent dedicated training then your motor skills will become the helm of geographic control which is functioning with ability to offset your opponent's attack no matter what art or style nor system their discipline may consists be. The 52 method of fighting clearly provides the practitioner more advantages along these lines once the distance is closed since it is rooted with the applications of a boxer. Kicking is a great and powerful weapon in fighting but from a tactical perspective hands quite naturally move much faster on every immediate angle and unlike kicking the hands alone doesn't always require the use of real estate in order to subdue an opponent. In this footage I can clearly see that these two BROTHERS have a tremendous amount of respect for each other and are mindful of their position as they demo from one point to the next. Yet in an actual combat situation no one with such abilities will be as passive making this method of teaching just an awareness for beginners to learn how to work on improving their skill level against a different style of fighting!

My question about the skull and crossbones.... Is when you throw the elbow up and the hand comes across. If a person throw a punch. Couldn't it push the fingers back and break em'? Or can you make a fist instead. After all, every block won't be perfect...

No, hands up high like that is very typical of Muay Thai. They use the knee to defend the midsection against kicks, but generally have poor midsection defence against other attacks than a straight kick, as shown here.

The skull nd cross bones block is used in muay thai. It's called a Dracula guard and it's used to transition into punches and elbows. Also muay thai fights transition to the clinch where you can knee, elbow and throw your opponent. changing levels against someone who throws knees and kicks will only get you knocked out. A muay thai guy doesn't care about getting hit with punches to the body. They've been conditioned from knees and kicks to the body already. 52 is a great technique against punchers but you can't block knees and kicks with your forearms for too long

Changing levels in muay thai is dangerous because of the kicks. Muay Thai fighters 'change levels' with their feet. If you change levels on a Muay Thai fighter you are going to eat their kick. While not always true the 'rule of thumb' muay thai is the feet handle striking the armpits and below. Hands are to the head. Yes, MMA gloves were made to protect the hand so that you could hit harder. Without gloves you would change you punch entirely. Look at the way the travelers fight for bare knuckle punching. There are parts of the world that still train bare knuckles.

Everything helps; tailor the martial-art that works for you. Very few martial arts teach offensive attacks for the street. A street-fight is more complex than a game of chest and last only less than 15 seconds. Thai fighters hands also with their kicks go for the knockout . I have seen some good Thai Fighters go into other martial arts and incorporate the new art what they learned into their system. So the question is: What do you want to learn for whats in the street, competition, traditional or MMA? Me - I like the Street because that's something you can take home with you, outside your class. EXAMPLE: You could be going home and someone doesn't like you and wants you beaten-up or wants your money so he can score a fix or a bunch of people wants to play the knockout game and wants to rape your girlfriend -- then what? I think that's what Martial Arts is. Someone correct me if I'm wrong?

I'd love to see 52 get more flashy... Turning away to exit sets up the spinning back elbow or back fist... MMA fighters like Jon Jones use this technique efficiently... I like your 52 techniques. I wonder how you would deal with Muay Thai straight knees off of either leg when you close the distance, especially with how low one gets their head with the bob and weave 52 style?

jesus estrada , from my experience, in tae kwon do many fighters would break their four arms when blocking a powerful kick to the face or body. some would dislocate their wrists. so we would practice blocking with the wooden dummy. the one they use for wing chun. I was able to block kicks from heavy weights, and I'm a welterweight. you can also make your own wooden dumy. I made mine with about 50dlls.
