I'm a long time Mardu Pyromancer player, and the one plains is a trap. It doesn't help cast anything except for the front half of lingering souls (which you discard most of the time anyways) and 2 1 of cards. I also don't really agree with Monastery Mentor but that's another thing. If you ever have the one plains in your opening hand it usually feels awful. Usually when Blood Moon is good you side out some of the white cards anyways.
@Zarik15
@Zarik15 5 жыл бұрын
Owl Man in this version of the deck I believe you do want the basic plains. With the 3 blood moons in the side and the amount of land destruction floating around now and paths, I think it’s fine to add a single plains. I’m also a Mardu pyromancer player, but this deck is slightly different and should hit its white source from time to time. I think mentor is a good one of and can be a nice unearth target to cheat it out after discarding it.

Yeah, I think traditionally a basic Plains isn't that important since Lingering Souls is usually the only main-deck white card and you can always just discard it and flash it back, but in this build we have more white cards which probably means we need a basic Plains.

@@MTGGoldfish Also, after many months playing the older version, I added a Plains. People know that mardu usually dont play plains, so they agresively destroy your white sources with their field of ruines and other stuff. Being able to get a plains sometimes surprises them

If we get bannings TBH I think one of the cards they should target is faithless looting, and at that point this deck almost dies, sure it could still work, but looting is the card that holds this deck together

I think hurting decks like this is the one reason to worry about Faithless Looting. I think we want more fair decks in the format, but Faithless Looting allows for some pretty broken things from unfair decks, so it is probably worth considering for banning even if an unfortunate side effect is it hurts some fair decks.
