I made a set for myself in 1974 while I was in the service. A piece of flat bar and 2 pieces of angle iron sized to fit. Not as pretty as those, but it definitely does the job. I've got a 12, 24 and 36 inch length, and when you get to a 2 inch jic fitting the 36 almost isn't enough. I'm now a trash truck mechanic and I do a lot of hydraulics. I think the tapered flare on a JIC fitting is why they get so tight. Snug up a fitting and come back in a week and you need the cheeter.

I use my butterfly sockets and my long half inch ratchet to break jam nuts loose, works great. Unfortunately, finding butterfly sockets nowadays is like finding a needle in a haystack. Nobody makes them anymore and the guys that have them aren't letting them go without a fight

They look ok, but why not use a crowsfoot on a long rachet?
@JeffCdeBaca3 жыл бұрын
Well if that’s all you got you do what ya gotta do, but I think you risk damage as there’s not that much metal on that crowsfoot. Could end up breaking it or deforming it.
