Not really. It gives more to the conflict. If you think about it. Mufasa is the adopted child. The adopted child is better than you and he gets te trone while you get nothing. It gives more motivaton for scar to kill mufasa and it will give us the cause of hate. He hates him because he robbed him while he is an outsider and an outsider gets the trone? It will a stab in the back from his parents. It gives more depth to the character.

The summary on the video and clues in this clip should make it pretty obvious that Scar was originally meant to be the king, and by the time the original movie comes around and who knows what will happen in this film, clearly Mufasa gets to be instead. Scar ends up being very resentful and jealous, so the relationship must have soured. People are not static, things can change.
