If I'm not mistaken, I think Rafiki is telling the story to Simba's daughter Kiara and not Simba himself. To me, that lion looks like a female cub, and she was born at the end of the first movie, so it would make sense if it was her, with Pumba and Timone being there also.

We finally get an original story tied to a classic rather than just another live action remake on a classic with the EXACT SAME STORY. A few things to point out, it’s mufasa that is the lost cub, scar (real name Taka) was the actual royal blood. I can only assume that one of the reasons scar becomes so bitter is that mufasa ends up taking the spot that rightfully belongs to him since he is royal blood.

They start the movie in the plains, not at Pride Rock. I think Scar's pride will be destroyed and Mufasa makes his pride and brings Scar into his new pride that will be at Pride Rock.

This is the origin story for the 2019 live action version, not the original 1994 movie so it's only canon to the live action one not the original version. In the original, Mufasa and Taka (Scar) are of royal blood.

@leek.6500 in the Lion Guard TV show it is stated that they are of royal blood and that Scar is the younger brother and thus held the title of Leader of the Lion Guard and the power of the Roar of the Elder, making him the most powerful being in the Pridelands. Scar protected the Pridelands from threats. But one day, patrolling on his own, he encountered a rogue Lion who tricked him into an ambush and was attacked by the rogue lion's cobra companion and given his scar. It is stated that cobra venom is quite potent, and if left, untreat can make the victim aggressive and later evil. The rogue Lion offered to give him the antidote, but only after Scar helped them take over the Pridelands. Enraged Scar used the roar on the rogue Lion and cobra, sending them into a volcano, killing them. When he returned to tell Mufasa the news, Mufasa simply brushed it off and nicknamed him Scar. Angry and with the cobra's venom taking hold, Scar grew resentful towards his brother, plotting to overthrow him with his own Lion Guard. But when his guard refused, Scar killed them. Having used the raor for evil, the Kings of the Past took back the power as punishment, leaving Scar powerless. Then, the events of the original movie occurred. That is Disney's canon origin story to Scar and Mufasa.

Mufasa is a LOST cub! TAKA (Scar’s real name) who is automatically of royal blood and is a Prince! TAKA (scar) was always be physically weaker than Mufasa, but he has BRAINS! He always wanted a brother and going by the different challenges (physically) Mufasa outshined Taka. Taka will soon grow bitter towards Mufasa and Mufasa later on having SIMBA (a son) made it worse! Cause Simba is now next in line to become King. Rafiki is telling the story to Kiara (Simba’s daughter). So this is right after Scar’s reign ended and Simba became King! This is probably right before the timeline of Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride.

If anyone's confused. Basically Mufasa got flown down river away from his home, Taka (scar) found him and brought him to his family. Scar's father wants only scar to rule in their pride, but now Mufasa would be helping them. The white lions showed up, their leader is a Dictator who wants to rule everywhere and Mufasa and Scar run away to find their home which will be pride rock. That's the Gist of the story from these trailers.

I saw a breakdown theory I guess which actually made me even happier because it made more intriguing sense. Scar is the prince...But not of Pride Rock. Scars family is a different "Royal bloodline" Mufasa is from another Royal bloodline of his own. The white lions basically want to kill off the other prides and create "One Lion King" So.. these two become brothers in arms so to speak with Mufasa eventually being King of all lions. But scar holds the grudge because he grew up in his own family being "next in line" and as a prince. Baaaasically... creating a Goku and Vegeta dynamic where one is the prince and feels entitled to being the strongest of all saiyans while Goku naturally is just the strongest of all saiyans creating the jealousy.

I really can’t wait to see the origin of Mufasa and Scar!!! After the release of the original animated film, there were comics that showed the origin of Scar at the time. His original name was Taka and he received his scar from a cape buffalo. However in The Lion Guard, they changed his original name to Askari and changed his origin as well in which case he gets it from being bitten by a cobra while being tricked by an evil lion. I wonder if the idea of the white lion, Kiros, and his pride fighting Mufasa and Scar might’ve been inspired on the controversy of Kimba The White Lion vs The Lion King. 🦁😆🖤💛🧡❤️

I don't know the texts inside out, but my little theory is that Mufasa was actually the one to give Taka his scar through many tests of leadership, and also Sarabi. In the first movie, Scar references the fact that Sarabi chose Mufasa over him which probably would have been the cherry on top of many tiers of cake. It will be interesting to see what the movie brings us!

Personally, I don't like having to reevaluate a classic movie from my childhood this way. This is the same thing as telling a life-long Star Wars fan..."You know Luke Skywalker? He actually was a mass murderer when he was a kid...out in the deserts of Tatooine. He killed Jawas and Sand People. Theres a very known characteristic about Scar on this trailer tho, Mufasa is like "we fight together" as he should. And Scar says "if we fight we die". He's always been known as a "coward" a strategist Lion that was never a good fighter. And what was Scars plan? To run away, jump on this water and we see what happens, but ain no way we're throwing hands with them. You can see he grabs Mufasa and forces him to jump, its not a thing they both want to do. So yeah you can see Scar in there even tho nothing bad has happened to him yet. Im open minded to this, it might work. And them not being blood brothers its weird but it makes sense.
