Highlights from the 1964 title bout between Muhammad Ali (known then as Cassius Clay) and Sonny Liston. Ali became heavyweight champion upsetting Liston by tiring him out and causing him to quit on his stool at the start of the seventh round. Ali's defensive skills and head movement were unbelievable in this fight as he dodged almost everything Liston threw at him.
“He wanted to go to heaven, so I took him in seven”

I listened to this fight on the radio with my dad when I was 8 years old. My pops was a huge fight fan. Man, seems like yesterday a lil wide eyed kid heard Clay screaming. Then I grew to love him, we went to close circuit fights vs Frazier One and Foreman. Probably the best bonding moments I ever had with the old man. RIP Muhammad and Pops.

This is the prophecy about the second coming of Jesus Zechariah 13:7 “Awake, sword, against my shepherd, against the man who is close to me!” declares the LORD Almighty. “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered, and I will turn my hand against the little ones. The Shepherd here is Jesus. John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. This is the fulfillment of the prophecy. Matthew 26:31 Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: “’I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’ This happened near 30 AD. Hosea 6:1-2 Come, let us return to the LORD. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence. In prophecies 1day is equal to 1000 years. Which means after two thousand years Jesus will return again. And on the third day which is the 3rd millennium, we will live in his sight. We all know we cannot see God's face and live on Earth. So it's the second coming of Jesus. Luke 21:11 ► There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven. Matthew 24:6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. We are the witnesses of all these things. From the death of Jesus to 2030 there are 2000 years. Jesus is coming soon. Let's all repent and turn from our old ways and turn to the Lord. Praise the Lord. Peace and Love to you all Easter is pagan, the resurrection day of the Lord is correct and please stop taking the Lord's name in vain like saying omg or using it with a bad word or taking it in anyway that is in vain. Even the devil trembles in his name and we shouldn't use the powerful name like that. For the people who says Jesus is not God here's a verse. Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. God bless you all. Please spread this message to the ends of the world

@@markedwards7721 Right on the mark [no pun intended vis-a-vis your name]! It's been said that in every sports, combat or otherwise, an excellent defense always wins out over very good offence. Ali's lightweight-like hand speed distracted all and sundry from noticing the best defensive tactics [anchored on very strong legs gained by tedious and unending jumping of the ropes] the game of boxing has ever seen. Those legs enabled him to dance out of troubles leaving his opponents punching and grasping at shadows. 'nuff said.

Out of desperation, Liston's corner put some kind of irritant on his gloves before the 5th round, and it got in Ali's eyes and temporarily blinded him. But Liston was carrying injury in his shoulder, which we could see with his movement. He was at least 34 or 36 years old at the time, which is certainly not a prime age for any athlete; and especially against the best HW Boxer, Ali. But I feel that a younger and injury free Liston, might have won.

@@tigertruthAgreed, this is all speculation. Actually, my assessment based on a few things. First the advanced age of Liston, secondly the fact that he was carrying injury. But one important thing is that the great Manny Steward felt that a younger and injury free Liston would have won against Ali. Of course, one can't be fully sure. I just felt that the resume of Liston, the intimidation, his reach advantage, size of his fists combined with the assessment of Manny Steward, might mean that Liston would have won. But most of the greats of Boxing feel that Ali was the best. So, it's all hypothetical.

Ali had the best ever chin in boxing history, and because of that chin he suffered from Parkinson’s in his 30’s. He is the most confident boxer to have ever lived. I believe you put any boxer in the ring with Ali, and they fight until one falls down, Ali beats every boxer in history and is always the one to remain standing. @@RD-kh3xt You are a student of the game, unlike amateurish observer @john harris who simply wears his emotions on his sleeve shirt -- he never gets tired of singing his recurrent refrain of "5 losses". Ali's "losses" included the close but unanimous decision by Frazier that wasn't decided until the 15th round left hook knockdown. Then followed the split decision wins by Ken Norton and Leon Spinks. Then the ill-advised comeback challenge, at 38, versus heavyweight champion, all-time great and prime Larry Holmes. Then the swang song versus journeyman Trevor Berbick at almost the age of 40. A little correction, however. Officially Ali suffered a technical knockout loss as he quit on his stool against Holmes in 1980. But you are right, he was never really knocked OUT throughout his career courtesy of a chin of steel God endowed him with. No amount of training can make a difference to any fighter's jaw because either you are born with it or you don't have it, period. 'nuff said.

Just in his video you can count how many left hooks Liston threw at his head and Ali just pulled back in time. The power behind those punches, if landed, would have brought Ali to the canvas....but they never hit the mark. Frazier 7 years later managed to knock Ali down in the 15th round with his famous left hook and won unanimously. That's the difference between being in your prime at 22 and rusty from not fighting at 29.

What absolutely amazes me is that I heard a few prominent boxing enthusiasts who think that the first Liston - Clay fight was close (some even say “pretty even”) before Sonny quit on his stool in round seven. Makes me truly wonder what fight they actually watched. Liston arguably only won one round (round five when Clay was near-blind, and even THEN it was still MAYBE a 10-9 round for Sonny). Clay really beat Sonny like he stole something.

Prime Tyson destroys Ali. Just like Frazier did. This fight, Sonny 44 years old.
@emekaezeokoli1287
@emekaezeokoli1287 Жыл бұрын
@@TTundragrizzlySo you're implying that Frazier "destroyed Ali"?! You cannot lie to an astute watcher of the game like yours truly. In their first fight in 1971 after years of forced layoff on account of refusal to be drafted for the Vietnam War, a rusty Ali went toe to toe against prime, reigning champion [by default] Joe Frazier. The fight was decided by Frazier's famous left hook that briefly dropped Ali in round 15. In their second fight, with each not being a reigning champion, Ali had Frazier in trouble late in the 2nd round when referee Tony Perez inexplicably intervened claiming that he thought the bell rang. This man seemed to have a personal beef with Ali who called him "a Puerto Rican thinking he was White" when he failed to penalize Chuck Wepner for his several rabbit punches in his title fight with Ali in 1975. Everybody knows what happened in the 3rd of the trilogy in the "Thrilla in Manilla" when Frazier, despite being ready to die to regain his title with both eyes shut, was forced to quit on his stool by his corner men -- a TKO in round 14. So how and where did Frazier "destroy Ali"? As for prime Tyson, Ali would whether the early storm and fury a la journeyman Buster Douglas, take him deep into rounds 8 to 10 and get him out of there by exhaustion. TKO round 10. 'nuff said.
